The world's islands are in danger. Encroaching humans, introduced pests, and deforestation threaten the most unique and amazing animals the world has known. Animals are disappearing at an alarming rate. From the Philippines to Hawaii, from Madagascar to New Zealand, animals are threatened with extinction. However, not all hope is lost. In the American Midwest, a small area of land has been set aside for a sole purpose: to breed and release these disappearing species to their endemic habitats. First pics soon! EDIT: No, I will not stop updating the Lion Preserve or any other zoos I may post because of this.

Since I've been working more on the Lion Preserve, I don't have too many exhibits for this park yet, but trust me, there will be more. Who's ready for an update? ![]() Visayan Spotted Deer and Tamaraw On the Philippines, overpopulation and habitat destruction have led to the downfall of some of southeast Asia's unique island ungulate fauna. In this exhibit, two of those creatures, the timid Visayan spotted deer and the robust tamaraw, can be seen living side by side as they would in the wild. Native foliage, such as the lovely samaguita flower, has been planted in the exhibit to give the animals a sense of home and make them more comfortable. So far, both species have reproduced, but none of the young have matured yet. Upon maturity, the young will be released. ![]()

Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.![]() If you want a banner like mine, then click on the banner to visit my graphics thread. | |

Thanks for the comments, everyone! ![]() Sri Lankan Axis Deer Axis, also known as spotted, deer can be found throughout India, with a subspecies living on the small Indian island of Sri Lanka. The zoo was fortunate enough to get a hold of a herd of these majestic deer. Besides the local flora, gooseberries, teak, and tea bushes have also been planted in the exhibit, to make the deer feel more at home. ![]()

Here's the most recently-completed exhibit. It's also one of my favorites I've made.Visayan Warty Pigs Warty pigs, not to be confused with Africa's warthog, are found throughout southeast Asian islands. However, the Visayan warty pig from the Philippines is the rarest of them all. The zoo has a male and female pair of warty pigs, with the female expecting to give birth sometime soon. Their exhibit is quite large for such small animals: amble vegetation and lots of room to grow ensure the pig's happiness in their exhibit. A small wooden shelter has also been constructed for the pigs to seek refuge in. ![]()
