CJ's got it! I'm still gonna call you that, by the way. ![]() African Leopards The zoo's family of leopards have a large, hilly, forested exhibit to themselves, near the indoor section of the lion exhibit. They can be hard to see at times, due to both the dense vegetation of the exhibit and their cryptic coloration, but with a careful eye and extreme patience you may catch a glimpse of the male, female, and baby leopards. The leopards have already raised a litter of cubs, which have been released, and are currently raising a second litter. ![]()

Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.![]() If you want a banner like mine, then click on the banner to visit my graphics thread. | |

Thanks, all! I have to say, the leopard exhibit is one of my favorites. And thanks for all the welcoming words. I've missed you guys! ![]() Anyway, who's ready for another update? ![]() Spotted Hyenas and Meerkats The zoo's spotted hyenas, three of them, are all females. They were rescued from a run-down inner city zoo and relocated to the Lion Preserve to be rehabilitated. So far, they've all made a healthy recovery. We're hoping to find a male from a neighboring zoo and have them mate. The meerkat clan consists of three males and three females. They're busy little animals; you can see them playing with their toys among the tall grasses of their exhibit. Banded mongooses may be added to their exhibit in the future, once enough research is conducted. Overview (hyenas on right, meerkats on left) ![]() Meerkats ![]() Hyenas

Thanks! Here's another update for my ever-so-loyal fans. ![]() African Wild Dogs African wild dogs go by many different names. Some call them cape dogs, others call them painted dogs, and some call them hunting dogs. No matter what you call them, there's no doubt that they are one of Africa's most interesting, powerful, and amazing predators. The zoo started out with two male and two female wild dogs. At least one of the females has given birth; the young will be released to the wild upon maturity. Their exhibit is less forested than that of other animals in the park, to replicate their natural grassland environment. A sheltered observation deck, similar to that near the lion exhibit, is available for protected viewing of these mysterious carnivores. ![]()
