That's what I said, that Giraffatitan would have a more pronounced crest when looking at the animal from the outside(skin and all). The B. altithorax skull I saw(I've seen all three of the FMNH's Brachios-The cast that's now at O'Hare, the Bronzed cast outside, and a cast of the skull in the Dinosaur hall. The third is the only one I've gotten a good look at) had a crest like structure, but wasn't as pronounced. I know that Giraafatitan isn't a new discovery, I've known about its existence for quite a few years. I was asking what the visible differences between a living Giraffatitan brancai and a living Brachiosaurus altithorax would be. (IE:the skeletal differences weren't visible and covered by the skin and muscle.) anyway, seeing the two skulls (as I'd never seen the Giraffatitan skull before) answers everything- Brachiosaurus has a small crest, Giraffatitan has the more noticeable one. Now I'd be able to tell the difference if both genus were standing in front of me.(before, I might have ended up calling Brachiosaurus altithorax a Giraffatitan and calling Giraffatitan a Brachiosaurus altithorax) I think we're confusing each other XD |

Okay good, I think both of us are clear, so ultimately what I'm saying is my Giraffatitan is accurate XD with the high crest and all. |

If you don't want an argument, please do not bring up the potential for one, showing TTR's Lio and then your edits is basically flame-baiting. And the only difference I can see is you added teeth and made the skin slightly more distinct. Both of you were wrong and just accept that, move on and keep to your seperate ways. |

Komori, Skin was made by me fully I was just saying that the changes were needed, I'm not flamming, his model was awesome already, and I told him a hundred times before, but these edits weren't unnecessary, whether little or more. And thanks I am going to keep my separate ways, this would be my last post relating to it. |

I see no major differences appart of a wider back of the head, wich may have made it look less like an actual lio. Then again, I am not quite good with sauropterygians... Also, for Brachiosaurus and Giraffatitan: -The skull of Brachiosaurus is the one that used to be given to Brontosaurus. Giraffatitan has the typical "Brachiosaur" skull. -B.altithorax and G.brancai are sister species. That means they are closer to each other that to anything else. Not to mention, genus are not set in stone, the most recent paper where both appeared classified both of them as species of Brachiosaurus, saying that the degree of differences are not that great. Taxonomical ranks are subjective, in any case, they are never set in stone. So, it is not "B.brancai was found out to be a different genus"; it is "B.brancai was reclasified as a different genus". Because a genus is an artificial grouping, we humans tend to put similar things in groups. http://www.miketaylor.org.uk/dino/pubs/tay...iraffatitan.pdf The paper that states why they were separated. Take a look at the B.altithorax rec, while anybody is at it. |
