It is nice to see the Giraffititan remade. I remember when Simba first revealed his Brachiosaurus all those years ago. Back then, everyone thought it was amazing, but look at how it would compare to today's downloads.

The Giraffatitan looks amazing, but I have one question.

So essentially, looking at the animal from the exterior, aside from size, Giraffatitan would just have a more pronounced nasal crest than Brachiosaurus? Am I interpreting this correctly?(I don't trust Wikipedia fully, so I'm making sure I have the differences straight. I've only seen a Brachiosaurus skeleton, but never a Giraffatitan skeleton, so I've never been able to make a comparison)

Well, Greg Paul made the differentiation in the 1980's. And then someone else in more recent years compared all the known fossils of Giraffititan to Brachiosaurus , and they were quite different. Brachiosaurus was more robust, while Giraffititan was more gracile. Also, it is possible that Brachiosaurus didn't have the head crest or had a smaller one, as the head crest was found on the Giraffitian, and since it was considered as a species of Brachiosaurus, the head crest was attributed to Brachiosaurus as well.

Brachio has the crest, I've seen the Skull at the Field Museum, which came from B. altithorax And I think only the highly trained eye could spot the differences in robustness. And I'm talking about if you were looking at the two animals while they were living, so skeletal differences would be indistinguishable as you're seeing the animal, muscle, skin and all

I asked because it was written as "A remake of my early projects brachiosaurus"

Well thanks anyway :)

Pika, you didn't read it well. Brachiosaurus altithorax had much smaller crests in comparison with Brachiosaurus brancai which had the high crest which we all know of from JP and other documentaries and stuff. So then they realized that every bone was different for Brachiosaurus brancai in comparison with altithorax that it can be its own genus, as Giraffatitan. So basically Giraffatitan is NOT a new discovery or anything, it is exactly and no different from Brachiosaurus brancai and they are one and the same, which is why it is Giraffatitan brancai now. So the iconic brachiosaurus with the crest and stuff we had in mind was a Giraffatitan, and on an average Brachiosaurus now should relate to B.altithorax which had relatively smaller crests, and overall is longer by the neck and tail and finally had the head more camarasaur like.

And also you said you've seen this skeleton right? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:FMNH_Brachiosaurus.JPG (the Field museum one) As you can see it has the crest, but not that high as the usual "brach" and overall is predicted to have this build http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...iosaurus_DB.jpg

Note the camarasaur like head and short crest. And this is Giraffatitan
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BrachiosaurusP1060062.jpg [file name's brachiosaurus coz, Giraffatitan was once known brach. brancai]

The Brach we knew of. And that is how my giraffatitan is. So basically from this classification, we only realize that Giraffatitan = Brachiosaurus brancai and THAT brachiosaurus were different than the usual one.
