Hang on, since people are doing dinosaurs as well, do Latin names count (since dinosaurs don't have common names, so Latin names have to be used for them). For instance, could Panthera be used instead of lion, or would it still strike lion out from appearing again?

For modern animals i eliminated them, unless there is no common name, so i guess the same rule would apply.
