Currently working on a MA story arc where many of the underwater tribes unite under a single banner and intiate war on the surface world with Atlantis caught in the middle. In the early stages of developing the story but here is my question: Do you guys think it would be okay if made some mention of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico? Seems kinda of hard thing to ignore but at the same time the oil still pumping out and it might be thought of by some to be insensitive since its still happening. Any thoughts? |

I don't find it in bad taste. Its a fact of the world. People drill for oil, disasters happen and the sea is tainted. This oil spill, truthfully would probably be the equivalent of hurricane katrina for an underwater civilization. |

It's very relevant. Why should we (as RPers) ignore a RL situation in-game? Just because there's an fake underwater civilization -- doesn't mean it can't be affected. Would we ignore 9/11, heaven forbid it happen again? I say go for it

In situations such as this, don't people typically not use the exact event, but make one similar to it via symbolism? That way if any serious arguments/discussions/tomfoolery arises the creator can simply say "Hey, I just made a fictional event" while still getting his point across. But that's just my two cents. |

I'd be all for that, buddy. I live in florida, we're being affected very directly by it, and actually alot of tourists stopped coming down because the beaches are getting hit with oil, and now bam....people are losing jobs. I'm all for this. |

Good question. Actually hashing that out right now. One for sure is Amphibous's people the Titanians. The live at the bottom of the Artic Ocean. I'll be posting more info on them soon. As for the rest I'm taking suggestions. Nialane has contributed the Warra tribe. Been trying to make this an inclusive thing for the sg. So if want to contribute feel free. |

Check out the Merridian Merfolk (Bold is a link) here at the bestiary, they are the largest and one of the oldest merfolk nations... Though they would act against the Surface dwellers in their attempts to prevent disasters such as man inflicts upon the oceans... it would be pushing it for them to engage in war... Though if Prompted by their allies the Atlanteans, they would definately consider war... especially if it were mostly support, like priests and casters... (famous for their casters) |

After reading about them in the beastery, I would agree that it would be streech for them to take up arms, espcially against Atlantis. More likely they may take a more neutral position. But I can see them figuring in to things. Espcially in the final act. |

Think Sahuagin live a bit too deep to be affected. Plus, not very the alliance-y types. |

if the Rafaeran elves were still in force, like....still in the big city of Rafaera, they would DEFINITELY engage in war. All of them save Lukerion despise humans with a fiery passion. unless you did want to include them and just have it be a few of their tribes from around the globe. |
