Gibotos

Global: @Big Soto
Character Name: Ukupanipo (Ukanipo for short)
Archetype: Tanker
Origin: Magic
Powerset: Willpower/Super Strength

Short Story:
Gibotos was born in Atlantis, but raised in the water that surrounds Hawaii. Like his father he has be tasked to protect the water from those that would cause it harm and he is also in charge of controlling the amount of fish the islanders are allowed to catch. Recently the overcrowding of humans in the waters surrounding the islands is beginning to destroy his home. Gibotos’s father taught him how to make a serum that has been passed down from generation to generation. This serum will transform someone into a hybrid shark and he uses it to capture humans that invade his territory and create new guardians of the ocean. The transformation to hybrid shark is permanent in humans; however is only temporary in Atlanteans. Gibotos has been injecting himself with the serum and transforms into a form that looked like Ukupanipo the Hawaiian Shark God and using this ability to help him protect the ocean. Gibotos is addicted to the serum and power he gains while in hybrid form and will find any reason to transform into the Powerful Ukupanipo.

I already asked King Leviathas if the name Ukanipo was ok even though it was not roman or greek and he said it was ok because it fit the theme. :)

P.S. I have never RP before and this is my first try writing a bio to fit a SG theme. If I did something wrong please let me know so I can correct it.

She wasn't asking about the name...but of the ORIGIN of your character. If he is not from Atlantis, then what? He uses a magic potion to change into a shark-man/god thing? Does that mean he's a sea creature? Or a human-offshoot that needs magic to become a sorta sea creature? Or is he really from Atlantis but was born off the Hawaiian coast and no where near the so-called legendary Great City.

We ask these questions because it IS the canon of the sg and it's worked pretty damn good so far. All I'm saying is while I admire people for wanting to be creative, there are still rules many of the first sgers had to stick to. And therefore any new members should adhere to the same rules as well.

So it bad if he looks like a god?

Oh...His famaily is from Atlantis, but like some Military soldiers they are deployed to provide protection and he was basically raised in the waters from Hawaii. When I was in the Army stationed in Germany I know that when a child is born in another country on a Military post they are still considered American. Its the same concept I was hoping for.

Overall I thought this hero concept was cool I will admit that, and the "old man" costume looks pretty sharp as well [seen him in AP]. NOW having said that I don't think this charactor fits into EoA lore or setting [maybo some other comic book SG or sea based SG sure!]. I would suggest study up on OUR lore that is finely detailed for all to read, tone down all the 'transformation into sharkman  ' and think more magical [latin, greek deities and gods.] and less mutation / superscience. You're born an Atlantean and thus already kick ass without all the flair of serums and

. A true proud Atlantean would not do this to themselves, thy would be considered an abomination or outcast.

Not trying to discourage you or tell you how to make YOUR hero, just throwing out some friendly advice...

Good luck man, just my 2 cents [or maybe 3 or 4 cents]

Thank You for your honesty and opinion. I am gonna keep the old man costume and come up with a new story for him and leave out the serum. I just liked the name and the shark transformation was part of the Hawaiian myth. I will also change his name and put in a new application.

P.S. This is the site i got the name and myth from... http://www.pantheon.org/articles/u/ukupanipo.html

Why would it need to be a serum?

Perhaps a magical invocation of sorts.

I don't know if anyone else has seen it, but Posidius actually has a "juggernaut" where he changes from a small mer boy into a behemoth of a mer man when under extreme stress. It rarely happened, but it's there.

Personally, I LIKE the transformation thing. I just think it needs a little reworking as to WHY it happens.

I definitely agree with Leviathas on this one. The transformation is fine, it's just the why and the how that needs to be worked out.

Very much with Levi as well. The whole 'god' thing threw me for a loop, and things weren't quite explained clearly, so yeah... I apologize if my responses sounded rude at all

Short answer: Keep the name. Keep the transformation. Just go with a more mystic reason as to justify why he does such a thing.

Some Atlanteans do practice forms of magic very akin to that of druids and shamans. Just sayin'.
