Do any of you guys play this?

I opened a golden King Krush like ten minutes ago. The magic equivalent in rarity would be like, a foil kozilek or something.
Won't someone think of the children?

I had my first 12 win run this weekend, so that was exciting I guess. it was somewhere around my 195th total arena win

you complete a secret 100 gold quest if you use the hello emote on the first turn and the well played on the last turn for 100 games. i think there might be a minimum game length tho
look every post here is a poster slapping another poster on the ass

we all have different ass slapping techniques but no matter what you think is happening, you are getting slapped on the ass. if you think you're getting slapped on the face, you are mistaken

because it's the ass that you are getting slapped on

the problem with CCGs that aren't Magic is I always feel like I should just be playing Magic. Like, this is why the CCG boom in the 90s kinda fizzled.

I mean there's a market niche for retarded children who can't handle Magic's complexity, and that's where Pokemon and Yugioh come in, and I guess WoW players might be similarly feeble-minded, so Hearthstone might turn out to be big. But I can't imagine why we intellectual supergods should be interested.

I mean, if I have 15 minutes to kill or I'm watching a stream and want to do something while I watch, it's good for that. Or if I'm doing something and want to throw up a stream on my second monitor, it's a good game for watching, because it doesn't take a lot of attention and it's full of RNG which can make for some comical situations.

Competing with Magic is impossible. Hearthstone is competing with MTGO, which is a lot easier

Yeah man, I could log on to modo and make sure I have 3 hours to commit and play a draft only to have the client break on me and force me to file for compensation OR I could open hearthstone and play a game of arena (draft) and then have 2 hours and 45 minutes to do whatever else the hell I want to.

there are a million things you can do other than playing Magic Online, but none of them are playing Magic, online. I mean of course MODO sucks but that doesn't make cheap knock-off Magic feel like any less of a cheap knockoff.

They actually feel better than Magic, online. That's my point. I enjoy Magic. I play it! With friends, irl. But if I get home and want some good enjoyable card gaming experience, modo is basically the bottom of my list. It's the cheap knockoff.

MODO is a terrible client for the Best Game Ever. Hearthstone is a slick client for a game with the depth of World of Warcraft. That's my point when I say you can play Magic, online: Magic Online is terrible except for how it lets you play Magic online but man, that's enough, and it's something that nobody else can offer.

(I guess Hex got close enough to offering it that they got sued? lol)

I mean a lot of this seems to boil down to the eternal struggle of PC master race vs. contard; deep gameplay with complex UI vs. shallow gameplay that you can slide into without having to think.

A laughably shitty UI vs a very functional one is hardly "complex vs simple" unless you mean you need to dedicate more time to know what various ways the shitty one is broken in that given week.

I'm not trying to defend MODO's UI, of course. But this is a common dichotomy you see, of deep games with indefensible UIs vs. shallow games with slick ones, and I know which side I'm on in that fight, and I guess I know now which side you're on.

Magic online is like a vintage pinball machine with a broken flipper, and hearthstone is like a pinball app on an ipad, and of course the guy who collects pinball machines is going to say you should play on a real machine, and you probably would like to, but the flipper continues to be broken. You tell the guy who owns the arcade "your pinball machine is broken" and his response is "This is a known issue, thank you for your report."

And then you shrug and go back to playing pinball on your ipad app because it actually works.

Magic Online has problems, but not on the level of a broken flipper on a pinball machine. You can successfully play Magic, online, a substantial majority of the time you attempt to, unlike pinball with a broken flipper that ruins every game. It's more analogous to a pinball table with a flipper that's slightly sticky (UI problems causing accidental misplays) and with an oversensitive tilt sensor (crashes and disconnects for no reason in a small minority of cases but enough to be annoying). And yeah, it would be nice if the flipper wasn't sticky and the tilt sensor worked right, but I'm still gonna call you a contard for playing some stripped down pinball app with like, three bumpers.
