Would this be appropriate for this forum?

Or is this more for sanctioned formats where people play real decks lol

With the move to the new site, I took the opportunity to clean out a lot of the stuff from the forum rules about how we don't want your lame crappy non-strategy posts in the War Room, because it turns out we want your lame crappy non-strategy posts in the War Room. It is my one regret, in all my time at ML!

OK, cool.

So a fun multiplayer deck I want to build is a deck that recurs the same instants over and over. I was thinking that this would involve Blink and, ridiculous enough, Scriviner

Are we talking recurring instants like Counterspell, or like Lightning Bolt, or like Healing Salve, or what? I mean, there are a number of ways to go with recurring the same instants over and over.

Are you wanting to go infinite, or just play Time Stop or whatever over and over again?

Cunning Wish/Mirari and a way to eat your graveyard (like Flash of Insight) is fun. And it's not like Cunning Wish is hard to justify anyway. (Flash of Insight -- little harder. But I always liked it. It's card advantage at instant speed!)

I don't mean a combo deck. I just mean a sort of control deck that can recur whatever instants it feels like whenever it wants. Especially blue instants.

Hey, probably should play Mirari

if you are recurring Healing Salve a nice trick is to recur Mending Hands instead. It is like you are recurring Healing Salve for free every third time you cast it!

Sounds like you want Merchant Scroll, then.

Don't be one of those guys who grabs their binder when they wish. Make a little stack of instants you think you might want.

Definitely

I'm actually already doing that with the red/blue deck that has Reins of Power and so on

So, yeah, Cunning Wish pretty much sounds like the thing to be using. And Blink? And Mirari, maybe.

I'm not really thinking of Healing Salve, though, haha

Blink will combo with how many of the other cards you're running? Just Scrivener? :ghost:

Mirari is always fun.

The fun creatures + blink deck might want to be a different deck than the fun instants + recur them deck.

I always liked Scrivener, though. Even though he is not very good. I played him in standard!

Monoblue lets you not worry about colorscrew. And you can justify running bad cards like Scrivener and Relearn.

If you run with green, then recursion is way easier. Holistic Wisdom can get silly. Nostalgic Dreams is nice & cheap, which means you can leave mana open for playing the instants you grabbed.

Absorb
Lightning Helix
Spinning Darkness
Reviving Dose
Vital Surge
Healing Leaves

Time Stop
Turnabout
Ray of Command
Last Word

Really, any way to repeatedly recur Turnabout is going to make for some really stupid situations. Add High Tide to make it worse. Or you can just dick around with fun instants like Ray of Command and Commandeer. They're fun to resolve and fun for people to know you're holding. (Fun for you.)
