That's lucky, will need to dump a bunch of scrap into weapons to afford seven power but that's good enough for literally anything

So the Mantis C is a boarding ship. We aim to get in hand to hand fights using our crew teleporter, and have very little ability to engage in ship to ship combat. This can be a problem when running into unmanned auto scouts, which have ship to ship weapons and no crew or oxygen.

That fellow inside the tiny enemy ship on the right hand side is Arti. Arti is a Lanius. Fittingly, the Lanius just want to be left alone, and don't get along with other alien races. This is because they drain the oxygen from rooms they're in, killing other lifeforms. Fortunately this makes Arti well suited for boarding the deoxygenated auto-scouts. You can see he's punched out their weapons system already and is pictured here killing their piloting system. He'll slowly make his way across the entire ship tearing it apart completely. The catch is that when he deals the last bar of damage to the ship it'll explode. Normally this would be a problem for out boarder, but we have a clone bay, so every time we board an auto-ship, Arti just goes down with his prey in a fiery explosion, only to be resurrected immediately afterwards!

And on topic, how does the in-game Arti not suck the oxygen out of the rooms in the ship, killing the rest of the crew?

Each room has an airlock separating it from the next room, so Arti only drains the oxygen from his own room. If I open the airlocks, he'll drain the entire ship's oxygen though. We've also had several near-death experiences from Arti loitering inside the boarding teleporter with other people and inadvertently almost mudering them all.

This thing stops 5 hits of damage before they can even connect with your ship. It's basically a [card]Time Walk[/card].

what's exciting is my first sector is rock, with a good layout to find the rest of the crystal quest. Would be an insane boarder on top of a four mantis team

zoltan shields are the trendy thing to do on boarding ships

it's got a small drawback in that you actively want to be boarded because it splits up their party and moves some of them out of range of the med bay. But still, best augment in the game

lost two mantises but I'm basically done boarding so shrugs. A drone breached the guy I was trying to keep alive so I'm on AI ship, but breach is exceptionally good against AI ships

I like how in some setting the humans are like the adaptable race that is special in its ability to have a wide range and learn to do whatever they need to to survive

then in ftl it's like 'yeah they're good at learning stuff and are fine at everything whatever who cares" explicitly in the lore
