Not wishing to be picky (but the Irish may want to kick you in the head :P ) but Limerick is in the Republic of Ireland (Éire) not the UK...although at the current recruitment rate Ireland should be in the lead by the second anniversary

Don't worry! You'd be amazed (and saddened) at how many people in Britain don't know the difference between Great Britain and the UK, it gets really confusing when you throw Ireland in the conversation!

Meh... wouldn't be the first time someone wanted to do a (Rooney/Passaglia/Morten Andersen) on my melon. That's why I have a replica "brain bucket" in my room.

Thanks for posting the correction, Shasha, I was about to start hopping up and down in protest, and asking "So how do you like your kneecaps?" in a bad Irish accent!

Yeah! I never get how people don't realise that our full title is actually 'The United Kingdom Of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. And I really really hate it when people say 'we need to put the Great back into Britain'...idiots, the 'Great' relates to the geographical area of the country, not the fact that our country is great, super, smashing, lovely...etc.

So, if Scotland regains its independence, will Great Britain still be great?

Hmm, good one Erin....who knows? Because strictly speaking we won't be the United Kingdom any longer....as we will not be very United!

may be other English speaking people dont know about the Great Britain meaning but almost in every other map in local languages they have it correctly but since in some languages they share the same word for great and big so it will sound like "Big Britain" to them.

It would have to become the Kingdom of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

If they are changing the name, they should also call it a Queendom surely?

 I think Kingdom is used as the generic term - otherwise they'd have to change it every time the gender of the monarch changed, and that would get way too confusing internationally! And of course technically I think Wales might be Principality as it was historically 'ruled' by the Prince of Wales.

Okay, when I get home I am going to put the countries in alphabetical order.

Do the members from England and Scotland want me to put them under Great Britain? Or leave it as it is?

I would suggest leaving it as is (and adding in Wales if we get any members from there - yes technically a Principality but I'm not one to split hairs over such things  ). I think it's interesting to see the distribution in the UK. But really I'm not going to be upset if they get combined!

I like it as UK....but if you want to split it to England, Scotland, NI and Wales then that is ok too :)

I have no real opinion on the matter, but I would not be surprised if the Scots want to be listed separately, so I would leave it as it is.

Yes, I thought that way and I do think I'm going to leave it as it is.
