I solemnly swear that I am not trying to start any debates. ![]() All I'm sayin' is that since April is so-called "Autism Awareness Month", today is World Autism Awareness Day, and a former close, autistic friend of mine came within moments of committing suicide over the weekend because she was sick of being kicked around, and since I've thus come to recognise that that's still a serious problem.... ....just wanna say that we could do with a little less awareness (we've got plenty of that already) and a little more acceptance. Anyone who still believes in "Light It Up Blue", try red or gold instead. Blue is the colour adopted by Autism Speaks, which, according to some of the vast reliable information I've gathered over the past year or so, is interested in little more than eradicating autism whilst lining its own directors' pockets. The autistic community is trying to promote red and/or gold as the colours of acceptance, rather than awareness. And now you may all disagree vehemently with me. But don't forget about David Marciano's son. I wish I could reach out to David and convince him to support a different, pro-autism organisation, but I've annoyed him enough for one lifetime.

I saw a bunch of great videos about autism and interviews with autistic people in French recently. I wish I could share them with you... I think you would really like them. One French man had a similar back story as Temple Grandin, and because his parents refused to institutionalize him, he is perfectly functional today and even explains how the autistic have a special understanding of artificial intelligence and will be indispensable in the near future. His name is Hugo Horiot. |

-10C (14F) this morning. I'd left the sliding glass patio door open a little to let the fresh air in last night... As we say in French, "Il vente ŕ écorner les boeufs" (Wind's blowing the horns right off the bull's head). |

Hey, praying folks, thank you so much! I have had a few great developments lately on the job front. More details as they arise, but my horrible shifts are hopefully going to be sorted and I can stop working nights. |

Hopefully I will be getting eight hour dayshifts on a regular schedule, instead of twelve hour night shifts scattered willy nilly. My current employer has let me down badly over recent months and I have decided enough is enough. I have a trial at the new place next week, and if I like it I will be signing the contract and starting on the third of May. I will be tired next week, having to squeeze in daytime trials between night shifts, but it is worth it if I get out of a situation where I have been taken for granted. Wish me luck. I will know by Thursday next week. |

After a string of pleasant days with a little drizzle here and there, I had seriously been looking forward to getting Serivity out this weekend. Then I chanced to look at the weather forecast and we're in for more wintry precipitation tomorrow, clouds and rain for the rest of the week. ![]() Mother Nature, what are you DOING. It is APRIL, for God's sake. |

realized I had to go back to Sept to find any substantial posts from me... sorry guys *had new carpet installed right around the time of the hurricane (Sept)... it also coincided with my brother having the backyard regraded (aka turned into dirt) without even talking to me about it... I still have a dirt backyard... there was also just some BS he pulled while he was here, so I'm basically done with him, super fun to just write off family *had an awesome Thanksgiving, and by awesome I mean had to have my manager take me to Urgent Care because I felt super light headed and nauseous... Dr lady was a quack, insta-diagnosed me with vertigo and wrote a RX... after returning to work and not even feeling well enough to drive and having friends come get me... I got home to find my blood sugar was 100 (thanks for dad's tester), and that was AFTER drinking Mt Dew which is loaded with sugar... so basically my sugar crashed and the Drs didn't even bother to check *had a super fun time in Dec in Nashville with my BFF, got to see Garth Brooks live, which was on my bucketlist, flashed my company ID card at the rental car counter and got an upgrade from economy to a Mustang lol *starting Jan 1st, been doing a Marvel rewatch, 1 movie a week, and you'll catch up in time for Infinity War... at least, I would have, before they changed the release date *dad had some significant health scare(s), and once again my siblings were useless, his heart rate was getting out of whack and his BP kept dropping, they said he was in "end stage" heart failure and that they didn't want to put in a pacemaker because they didn't think he'd make it out of the anesthesia, super fun dealing with that alone, he had to wear a vest that was basically a defibrillator for the past 4 months, just yesterday we returned it and they're *planning* to put in a pacemaker in a couple months *been doing small improvements around the house, mostly decor... part of me is 'why should I care' since technically it's not MY house (my bro now owns it) but at the same time, ugh, I want my own stuff... built a little pseudo galaxy themed library in the extra bedroom, I ran out of space in my room for my books, so it was needed, but it's also fun to see it come together *sneaking suspicion that the hellchildren next door kept letting our dogs out, I was trying to repair sections of fence thinking they were escaping somehow, only to have our neighbor catch them one day running around the street and brought them back to discover the gate OPEN (which you have to lift up on to open), bought a bike chain lock and surprise surprise, they haven't 'escaped' since *work is both good and crazy, Orlando got voluntold to do a pilot program for our North Central region, I won't go into it because it's complicated, especially to non-auto people, but it's basically a second job on top of our everyday madhouse... and then this past week we had a couple guys from HQ come in because they're changing our accounting system and we're pretty sure they're gonna screw us over in the process, they came in to see how we do it in the field, but I still have the suspicion they're not going to make our lives easier... I've also been working ridiculous amounts of overtime, I can't keep my days straight and am constantly tired, and yet, my credit is still maxed out and I'm still juggling bills *sigh* but hey, I got a 70c raise *there is a con in Orlando in May that I'm really hoping to go to, but again, money *been dealing with hella car problems... Ren started acting up (sputtering right as you hit the gas) so I left him home one day and dad took him out... where he proceeded to DIE in the middle of an intersection and dad had to walk about a mile home (bad heart, remember?)... THREE WEEKS later and almost $300 and the mechanic (who I can't stand) replaced the fuel pump and called it good... I get back in it and can instantly tell it doesn't feel right... we play around with it and get it to feel proper again (I won't go into car explanations that won't mean anything to most of you) and the next 2 days, he refuses to start... so towed back to the mechanic, who gets in it and proceeds to start/drive it without a problem... another $100ish for no good reason... in the meantime I'm going thru a 1/4 tank of gas a DAY in dad's van ($$$), and dad is car-less because he wen't to take my van to the Drs office and was letting it warm up in the driveway, only to come back out to a giant puddle of gas underneath it, so yay, fuel leak that we have yet to even try to tackle... and right now (as I type) we're halfway thru installing a brand new (another $300) carburetor, mechanic said there was nothing wrong with mine, but it did have 100K miles on it and we're not sure what else could be causing the hesitation/flat spot he has when I hit the gas *sigh* so my bank acct is in shambles right now *and in an attempt to save Ren 60+ miles a day (poor boy's getting old), I saw the perfect HHR for sale, /exactly/ what I've been wanting, white, grey interior, under 100K, clean service history, under $5K... left work early, drove over to see it before someone else could, thinking, hey, it's gonna be a pain, but a buy-here-pay-here might actually finance me... but oh, wait, THAT car is cash only, pretty much everything else on the lot is BHPH... but not that one, the one I want *sigh* *but I did get to go to a friend's wedding last weekend, which was fun, she's Indian (as in India) so we had henna done and they had Bollywood dancers and I got to wear dresses and lots of jewelry and it was cool *and I also went to the eye Dr (I've been wearing the same glasses for like 10+ years) so I got new ones (and contacts)... but that ended up being over $300+, like UGH, why is everything so expensive!! It's that way here today too! 80 degrees yesterday and today blowing snow. No, the race wasn't to Whitehorse, but it probably was as cold as Whitehorse that Saturday! And this one for that matter. One of my best friends came to visit a few weeks ago, and it's safe to say I got him hooked on due South.... |

I've barely posted here recently either. Not intentional, I promise! I have been lurking around. It's good to hear from you, Monte! TYK for the update. Sounds like your life has been even more hectic than mine! My dad is recovering from a health scare too. He's making good progress, but in the meantime I've been running around helping out my mum (who doesn't drive) in between working, commitments with the band and my family of course!Work is very, very busy. It always gets busy over Christmas, but this year it just hasn't calmed down since and we're struggling to cope. We're desperately trying to recruit more staff, but it's a vicious circle at the moment because staff are leaving in droves due to the crazy workload and the manic atmosphere and we can't fill their chairs fast enough. BG - I really hope your new job opportunity works out for you. How is the studying going? I hope I'll be heading to your neck of the woods again soon, we need a good catch-up! |

BG, I hope the trial period at the new place is going well for you! Monte, good to see you again. I hope you can get all the stuff with your vehicle situation sorted quickly. It's a bummer when you go somewhere thinking you're about to get a car and then they throw a kink in it. I've been on a dS binge lately, but I put it on hold tonight to watch some Night Court in honor of Harry Anderson passing away. That was another show I remember watching with my parents on rerun. |

Hey all. Sorry I've been absent lately, but family stuff has kept me busy. Seems lots of us have been having a hectic year so far. I've been involved with my niece piecing her life back together, as well as sometimes moderating arguments between her & my Mum. Good times! But the good news is that it's now only 7 weeks until I head to the Northern Hemisphere for my long-awaiting holiday! Can't wait!! I'm still holding on to a tiny hope that I'll get an opportunity to meet Paul Gross somehow (in a totally non-stalky way, of course!). It would absolutely make my trip.
