  • Scything - Pied Avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta): birds like this usually skim back and forth on the surface of the water while walking in shallow water (I've seen avocets do this, if only I had a pic of it doing this; it looks like how a flamingo feeds, except not upside down) they feed on invertebrates.

  • Probing - Ibisbill (Ibidorhyncha struthersii): birds like this usually probe into the sand, feeding on invertebrates.

  • Filter feeding - Carribean Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber): this shape of bill are only found in the flamingos, they skim for invertebrates such as krill; they can only feed upside down.

  • Aerial fishing - White-throated Kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis): birds like this dive into the water to catch fish, tadpoles, frogs and shrimp; they dive completely underwater, fly back up to their perch and beat the animal to death; kookaburras on the other hand eat lizards, snakes, insects and raw meat.

  • Pursuit fishing - Red-breasted Merganser female (Mergus serrator): birds like this usually swim underwater and chase their prey underwater, such as fish.

  • Scavenging - Lesser Yellow-headed Vulture (Cathartes burrovianus): birds like this usually feed on rotting and dead animals; the Palm-nut vulture feeds on coconuts.

  • Raptorial stylized based on Accipiter: birds such as this catch their own prey; such as rabbits, fish, other birds and other animals.
The small text in the corner says "not to scale". Yeah, it's a bit cheesy. Oh well.[redit][/redit]
