Are sure it isn't a Fulmar, Herring Gull or a Common Tern?

Quote:

Fulmar
Status in Europe:Common

Where and When:Breeds from Franz Josef Land south to Brittany in the eastern Atlantic and in Greenland and the eastern Canadian Arctic - There are four small colonies in eastern Newfoundland and southeastern Labrador -Until recently the fulmar was virtually confined to the Arctic and was rare in temperate waters on either side of the Atlantic - However a massive expansion in range began in Iceland in the eighteenth century reaching northern Scotland by the 1880s and Brittany and Norway by the late 1950s

Habitat: Sea

Notes: The Northern Fulmar is similar to a medium-sized gull in appearance but its heavier head and neck straight wings and gliding flight readily distinguish it in the field - Usually white everywhere except on back rump and upper side of wings and tail which are grayish brown upper wings with pale patch at base of primaries - large dark eye - bill stout yellow and hooked

try this to find out what kind it is

BUMP. here's the 5 gulls that live in towns

Quote:

The herring gull is perhaps the most familiar, with the well-known seaside call. Adults are white, with a pale grey back and wings, black wingtips, and pale pink legs and feet. The lesser black-backed gull is larger than herring gull, with a dark grey back and wings, and yellow legs.

The great black-backed gull is the largest gull found in the UK, with a black back and wings and pink legs. All three species have a strong, heavy, yellow bill, with a red spot towards the lower tip, which is brightest in the breeding season. Young birds are mottled grey and brown and are difficult to distinguish from immatures of other large gulls until they acquire their adult plumage after four years.

Black-headed gulls are as common inland as on the coast. Their back and wings are pale grey and the bill and legs dark red. In summer, the chocolate-brown head is the most obvious feature, but outside the breeding season this is replaced by a dark smudge behind the eye.

Common gulls come into towns less frequently. Their back and wings are pale grey, the wingtips black and white, and the bill and legs green-yellow.
