Character Name(s): Link
Age: 14-ish
Appearance:
(Due to the various art styles this particular Link has gone through, I shall be sticking more to the Oracles design than the other two)
Link has a child-like face, with large, blue eyes and very smooth facial features. He has messy blond hair, though most of it is usually covered up with his hat, leaving unevenly parted hair moving off to the right side of his face visible, along with two bangs in front of his pointed ears.
While his attire might change slightly over time, it always has similar features. Throughout his travels, Link has kept the same green colored hat with a yellow stripe on it's rim. He often wears a green, short sleeve collared tunic with a long sleeved brown shirt under it, with white pants, and simple brown boots.
Powers, Training and Weapons: Link can become a literal walking arsenal given enough time to collect things. His most common form of combat is using the classic combo of a sword and shield, with his skills in using both of them rather impressive for a person of his age. One said skill, is the ability to charge energy within his blade and release it into a devastating spin attack. Another far more interesting skill, is his ability to fire a so called "Sword Beam" when he is in his top condition and happens to have a very powerful sword, usually the Master Sword.
In addition to his skill with a sword, Link is also proficient in archery, and is typically also seen using a bow in addition to his sword. In some cases, he was known to strap a bomb to an arrow to create a far more threatening variant of weaponry. Of course, when the bow is not useful, he has a variety of other weapons and equipment he can use. Two of the most useful are his boomerang, and a hookshot, essentially a grappling hook launcher that can double as a weapon if needed. Of course, his skills with these items can only come to fruition if he actually HAS said items.
While he does have some form of magic to use, it seems to be tied more to the use of special items and almost no use in casting magical spells.
Weakness: While Link might be a chosen hero, he is still Human-like, a Hylian to be more specific. Taking an arrow to the chest will still cause him massive pain, as getting shot by an arrow would! He also seems to have a habit of getting massively sidetracked at times, often times going on completely separate adventures than the true task at hand.
Personality: Link is a rather kind guy, being the type to cut your lawn without asking, or breaking those old and useless pots for you. Obvious jokes aside, he is a genuine nice guy, often doing small tasks for the townsfolk, knowing that the rewards might not be the best at times, but doing them despite it. Not to mention saving multiple lands without much convincing from others.
Despite all the heroics and such, Link is actually quite shy when it comes to actually talking to people. While he can easily talk, he often communicates with body language rather than speaking, rare cases aside. Of course, he obviously speaks when body language is not enough to get a point across.
During his travels, Link has actually become attached to his hat, and will react quite badly if it is taken from him without his permission.
History: A unknown amount a time before Link was even born, the Hero of Time fell in the climatic battle against Ganon. The Demon King soon had all the pieces of the Triforce, but before he could begin his complete conquest of the world, the Seven Sages made a desperate move and banished him into the Sacred Realm. The Realm had been corrupted into the Dark World by this point thanks to Ganon holding all three pieces of the Triforce and his dark heart darkening it, transforming it into the Dark World. The Dark World served to lure greedy Hylians into it, believing there to be a great power for them to take. This lead them to become horrible monsters, feeding Ganon's army and soon lead to the Imprisoning War.
The war almost caused the deaths of nearly all the Knights of Hyrule, and left the Kingdom of Hyrule a shadow of it's former glory. Still, the kingdom remained at peace for many, many years. That was, until the King's chief advisor Agahnim brainwashed the kingdom's soldiers, ended the life of the King, and banished the six Maiden descendants of the Seven Sages to the Dark World to try and break the seal that kept Ganon within the Dark World. The final descendant, Princess Zelda, sat within the castle dungeon, telepathically reaching out for someone to help her.
Her calls for help were heard by Link, waking him up during the middle of the night to see his Uncle leaving, telling him to stay home and not follow him. Being the best listener in all of Hyrule, Link followed his Uncle into the sewers of Hyrule Castle, where he found him laying against a wall, mortally wounded. With no options left, the Uncle gave Link his sword and shield, and told him it was up to him to save Zelda, and the entire Kingdom of Hyrule. Saving Zelda and leading her to a Sanctuary for safety, Link went out on a quest to obtain the Pendents of Virtue so that he may draw the Master Sword from it's pedestal.
Once he had managed to get the Master Sword, Link found out that the brainwashed soldiers had stormed the Sanctuary and taken Zelda. A battle through Hyrule Castle happened happened shortly afterwards, Link arriving just in time to see Agahnim send Zelda into the Dark World, prompting the two to lock in battle. With his final ounce of power, the wizard banished Link to the Dark World, prompting Link to begin rescuing the Six Maidens. Once that was completed, Link fought his way to the top of Ganon's Tower, where he had another encounter with Agahnim. This encounter ended with the wizard dying, only for Link to find out that he was truly Ganon's alter-ego.
After a chase through the Dark World, Ganon and Link had one final battle within the Pyramid of Power, with Link coming out victorious in the end. He then discovered the Triforce was hidden within the Pyramid, hidden ever since the fall of the Hero of Time so many generations before. Upon touching it, the Triforce granted Link's wish and Hyrule returned to peace, even giving life back to the King and his Uncle.
However, Link's adventures were far from over.
One day while he was visiting Hyrule Castle, Link felt the Triforce calling to him in it's chamber. Upon touching it, Link was transported to the distant land of Holodrum. There, he met a traveling group, who were gathered around watching a dancer named Din. Link was dragged into the dance, awkwardly dancing alongside the grace of the dancer, until the sky darkened and the ruthless General Onox attacked. Shortly after, Link found out that Din was the Oracle of Seasons, and her kidnapping had sent Holodrum's seasons into chaos.
So Link set out to save her, collected the Essences of Nature, discovered the lava-filled land of Subrosia under Holodrum, found the Temple of Seasons within in, and found the powerful Rod of Seasons to help his cause. Once he had all eight of the Essences of Nature, the hero entered Onox's fortress and defeated him, and his dragon alter ego. With Din saved, the seasons of Holodrum returned to normal, and all seemed well. At the time, Link was unaware he was being watched by two sisters, as the Flame of Destruction became lit.
Before he could rest, Link was then sent to Labrynna. Once he arrived there, he met a woman named Nayru, a singer who was truly the Oracle of Ages. Once again, it seemed evil was afoot, as an evil woman named Varen appeared, possessed Nayru, and traveled to the past. While in the past, she began to tamper with history, radically changing modern Labrynna. Once more, Link set out to collect eight items to help him defeat Varen, this time known as the Essences of Time. However, collecting these Essences required Link to jump from the present Labrynna to the past multiple times.
After collecting the Essences (and a very important stop to give a very grabby hand in a hole a piece of paper), Link confronted Varen, and, like Onox before her, defeated her. However, she laughed as she died, saying her tasked was already complete, the Flame of Sorrow had already been lit. It was at this point, that Kotake and Koume, the surrogate mothers of Ganondorf and collectively known as Twinrova, revealed themselves as trying to revive Ganon. The pair kidnapped a traveling Zelda and attempted to sacrifice her to light the Flame of Despair and fully revive Ganon.
Link's arrival put an end to this attempt, and the pair ended up sacrificing themselves to light the flame. However, the ritual had been ruined, and Ganon revived as a mindless beast, proving to be much less of a threat than when Link had first fought him. With the Demon King defeated once again, Link departed Labrynna by sea to go off an begin training in a far off land.
After many months, possibly years, Link was on his voyage home when a terrible storm struck his boat. The hero woke up soon after in the house of a young girl and her father, the girl having found Link on the beach of their island. The girl, named Marin, had an uncanny resemblance to Zelda, so much so that Link mistakenly called her by the named Zelda when he first awoke. She informed him that she had seen a sword on the beach, and figured it was his, and happily gave him his shield to help him.
After he re-acquired his sword, an owl came to Link, informing him that the giant egg resting on the mountain in the center of the island contained the sleeping Wind Fish, and in order for Link to leave the island, he must wake the creature. Link soon discovers that to wake the Wind Fish, he must find yet another set of eight items, the Eight Instruments of the Sirens. Finding it odd that this was the third time in a row he had to collect eight objects, Link set off to find them so he could leave the island.
However, it would not be that simple, as Link would soon find out that the entire island was merely the dream of the Wind Fish. If he were to wake the creature, the dream would obviously end, taking the island and all it's inhabitants with it. Reluctantly, Link pressed on with his adventure, collecting the instruments and vanquishing the nightmares that stood before him. After all the instruments had been collected and he had entered the egg, Link faced down with the terrors of his past in one last battle with a nightmare version of Agahnim and Ganon before the Nightmare took it's true form, a form that had a vague similarity to the wind mage of Vaati in the past.
Once the Nightmare was defeated, the Wind Fish awoke, and Link woke up clinging to a board of his boat out at sea, the Wind Fish gracefully flying over his head. Even if he was stuck at sea, he could not help but be happy at the sight of the awoken Wind Fish, a remarkable sight he would never forget. However, him could not know the ocean he was floating in was not the ocean he had been sailing before.
In fact, he was floating over a flooded Hyrule, and was none the wiser to it...
