"The songs that their souls sing, they soothe me~"

OOC

Ah, the Crater Coliseum... it was unlikely that a greater venue for violence existed, outside of the Multiverse's warzones. Given it's placement on the Moon, Lynness wouldn't have dreamed of approaching it before. Far too many people called the Moon home, and she'd been doing her best not to give in to her impulses, so it was just too great a temptation to risk it. Her eyes swept out toward the various combat venues in the area, a smirk on her face - it was laughable, the way people flocked here to watch others attempt to prove their strength against their fellow combatants. It certainly wasn't something she found to be all that tasteful... but then again, she couldn't judge. After all, while she hated it, her murders still filled her with a sick sort of gratification...

"I think this place will do nicely," Lynness said to herself, on the path just outside of the coliseum's main venue. She watched as people came and went, while only having the slightest attention paid to her in return - her horns were an oddity, but nothing that'd be a concern to most. "But how to kick things off."

At this point, of course, the only thing that the goddess had on her mind was murder. She already knew, coming here, that she'd be killing for the sake of her goals... but now that she was actually here, surrounded by the songs of hundreds of mortal souls begging to be freed from their own mortal existence... A shudder ran through her as she looked over each individual, each group, a grin on her face as she considered the possibilities. It didn't really matter how they went, though, did it? After all, no matter how she killed them, they were being freed from a disgusting existence.

Saving mortal souls was only a secondary goal in this instance, though. Her primary objective - the reason she'd chosen the Crater Coliseum over anywhere else - was about attracting positive attention. After she'd brought Pheus back to life, the possibility of recreating prospective worshippers had been on her mind... she'd never been able to tolerate them in her world, since even the ones willing to follow the murder goddess had still been mortal, still deserving of death. But now that she could revive collected souls, there was the chance that she didn't have to be alone in her task anymore. Perhaps, in this place of violence and competition, she could find strong individuals who would sympathise with her goals. Individuals who might be willing to help with her divine mission.

"This is it," Lynness said to herself, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. "I'm ready... so ready~"

Lynness's eyes fluttered open, and almost immediate she picked out her prospective targets in the larger crowd - a trio leaving the arena, an older woman accompanied by two teenagers. Likely a family... well, at least they'd be together in their final moment. Waiting until they were just passing by her position, Lynness tapped into the power of her collected souls, creating a thick fog of blackness. The edge of fog nearest the family quickly focused into a sharp edge before flying out, spilling their blood as it cleaved through them. The first two were cleanly sliced through, but their bodies had slowed the attack enough that the third victim, a teenage girl, was only critically wounded as the attack flung her to the ground.

"Ah, I guess I overestimated my strength," Lynness called, slowly stepping through the pooling blood of her first two victims. The rest of the spectators coming and going chose to back off from the goddess. Some shouted angrily or threatened her, while others panicked, screamed, fled for their lives... but her focus was on the girl who was attempting to crawl away. "Oh, you're not trying to quit the game, are you~?"

"P-please," the teenager groaned as she feebly tried to drag herself away, so slow that Lynness easily reached her, planting a boot against her shoulder.

"Oh I know, you're so eager to join them, right?" Lynness asked, a cheeriness in her voice as she crouched down over the girl. "Don't worry, you'll be there soon!"

"End this senseless violence, demon!"

Lynness's green eyes flicked up toward the source of the command, her smile turning into a malicious grin as she studied her challenger. He was young, judging by his appearance - locks of auburn hair hung in a disheveled mess around his face, and a sparse beard covered his jaw. The look in his eyes, though... even without considering the scars he bore, the way he unflinchingly challenged her despite the blood she'd spilled was enough to tell her that he was battle-hardened. It was only once she saw the coat of arms on his iron armor that Lynness lost her composure, though. She wasn't afraid, though... she began giggling, her laughter quickly rising in volume until it echoed outward toward the various combat venues.

"You're from Andelia, aren't you?" she asked, malicious excitement in her voice. "I've seen that emblem before... I've killed men bearing similar armor, in Amrisen~"

Recognition flashed through the youth's eyes, and he took a step forward, leveling the tip of his spear at her. "...you're Lynness, aren't you?" I've only heard rumors, but... those horns, and that power..."

"Yes, that sounds about right," she replied, forcing a polite smile on her face. "You understand that you're challenging a goddess, don't you? Do you expect this to end well?"

"Let the girl go," he commanded. "If you must fight, the accept my challenge! I am Nicholas, son of Noah of House Blackwell!"

Lynness hummed thoughtfully for a moment before standing properly. A spear of black magic formed just behind Lynness before flinging into the fallen girl's back, ending her life. "I accept your challenge, Nicholas... though I hope you'll forgive me for not leaving unfinished business, hmm~?" A roiling cloud of blackness began forming around her as she made her way toward her challenger, bloody footprints marking her path from her first kills of the day. She idly flicked her wrist forward, sending a lance of dark material toward the spearman, but he was quick to step to the side, his spear carving through and dispelling her attack. "I do hope you'll entertain me, Andelian~"

"Your heart is mine!" Nicholas shouted, stepping forward with practiced speed and precision to thrust straight for her chest. Grinning, Lynness stepped back, the dark cloud around her forming a thin, deflective barrier, angled to force her opponent's strike to the side. Faster than she'd expected, though, he stepped around and swung his spear around from the side, the shaft striking her mid-thigh. The goddess cried out, limping back slightly, a wall of projecting lances keeping him from pursuing her further. "Rumor of your demise at the hands of Ser Roland travelled fast, goddess... and while I may not be a soldier of his caliber, I swear I will strike you down!"

"You should really spend less time talking," Lynness remarked, a low-sweeping blade of her power lashing out along the ground. The soldier swiftly pushed off of the ground, and she took the opportunity to fling another, more focused mass of darkness. The attack struck his armor plating, flinging him to the ground and winding him but not seeming to do much real damage as it sent him rolling away.

The goddess hummed thoughtfully as he pushed himself up, a rod of darkness coalescing within her grasp. "That armor, it's so troublesome... I suppose I'll have to take your head, right?" she asked, a dark smirk on her face as an axe head slowly extended from the handle she held. "Hold still for me, okay? I promise to make this painless if you just submit~"

"I'll... never submit to you, demon," Nicholas responded, slowly pushing onto one knee, his spear still tightly gripped in hand.

"Keep telling yourself that," Lynness called back, idly twirling the quickly-growing poleaxe in hand. "You will, though... one way, or another~"

Friendly Neighbourhood Berserker

"And another vicious punch thrown by our very own Burning Berserker! Will our challenger remain standing or will this be another clean knock-out?" the announcer boomed throughout the whole arena. The audience went wild and started shouting their heads off, each member of the crowd wanting to show their support to the Coliseum darling, Liliane. Her opponent had a tough fight if he wanted to gain the audience's favour, but also a much tougher one if he wanted to be victorious over the Sacrier. Despite this, he still managed to handle himself well enough and was even lasting longer than what most expected of him.

Both Liliane and the gladiator were trading blows and it looks as if they were about equal in strength. The fight could have lasted far longer if it wasn't for an emergency broadcast that drowned out all of the noise and drew everyone's attention away from the battle, including the fighters themselves.. "There has been an incident at the entrance of the Coliseum. What has transpired has not been confirmed yet, but for everyone's safety we urge you to stay inside until the problem has been assessed and taken care of. Thank you for your cooperation."

Liliane promptly turned around and walked away from her opponent without even as much of a word. The warrior was shocked to see her try to leave the arena, surprised that a fighter as seasoned and accomplished as Liliane would just walk away. "Hey, what's the big deal? Aren't we going to fight? Why are you running away like a coward?" He shouted, trying to get some answers out of her.

The Sacrier turned her head, "I'm going to see what's going on outside. I don't want what happened here last year to happen again," she calmly told him. He wasn't quite pleased with the answer and he immediately started charging at her, trying to force her to continue the fight. She sighed when she saw him. "I really don't have time for this..." She turned around, looked at her opponent and tensed up her muscles.

"Hah! Now you're making sense! It won't be long until I beat you and I-" The gladiator's boasting was cut short when Liliane suddenly vanished and reappeared directly in front of him, slamming a fist right against his gut. "I told you I don't have time for this," she said and a moment later the warrior was sent flying at almost supersonic speeds, crashing against the opposite wall. With a huff, Liliane headed back to the exit.

Liliane waded through the crowd of people, who were worried about what was happening but fortunately have not yet started a panic. A few tried to get her autograph and photo, but she quickly walked away from them as she told them she had some business she had to care of first, which was hardly a lie. Soon enough she reached the main entrance and what she saw when she walked outside filled her with disgust: three corpses and a fight between two people she had never seen before. "What the hell happened here?" she asked them, knowing that one of them had committed the murders. "Which... which one of you is responsible for this?"

The Sacrier's expression changed from disgust to anger and her body suddenly caught fire. "Well? Who do I have to punch first?" she shouted while she slowly but noticeably started to grow bigger for a few moments, turning the berserker into almost something monstrous.

Sweat poured down Axel's face as he strained, struggling to break free of the hold Atalanta currently had him pinned with. Despite the fact that she was a ranged fighter, she was still stronger than him physically. The two of them had initially started sparring with their weapons before they abandoned them in favor of hand to hand combat, which quickly devolved into the two of them grappling with each other on the ground. The Archer had easily slammed the pilot into the ground and was currently straddling his back, holding one arm behind his back and pushing his face into the ground with her other hand.

The Servant looked up from her Master as Alfimi flew up before Wendy slammed into the ground, carving a sizable chunk out of it as the wind dissipated from around her fist. The Einst was quick to summon a pair of red demonic masks that fired twin beams of light down at the Dragonslayer, who quickly rolled out of the way as the ground was tore up further. Tearing her eyes away from the spectacle, Atalanta leaned down and whispered into Axel's ear.

"Yield Master."

Axel growled and started to channel his spiritual energy from within him into the arm that wasn't restrained. As it started to glow bluish green, Atalanta increased the pressure on his other arm. Ignoring the pain, Axel roared and twisted underneath Atalanta, slamming his elbow into her side and unleashing the coalesced energy as a pinpoint blast, throwing her off of him. Uninjured but surprised by the attack, the heroic spirit sailed through the air before flipping over and landing nimbly on her feet. Axel picked himself up off the ground as he took up a more defensive posture. A short distance away, both Alfimi and Wendy had stopped firing spells at each other, taking a break to catch their breath. Before anyone could make a move, the emergency broadcast siren sounded before a brief announcement was made.

Axel straightened up from his defensive pose, worry etched into his face. By some unspoken agreement between him and Archer, their spar was finished for the day. He strode over to his stuff, throwing on his discarded jacket before he picked up his sword. Atalanta herself summoned her bow again as she jumped onto the spectator stands before she rushed up the stairs, seeking a better position from which she could see the front entrance from. At the top of the stairs, she jumped and grabbed the edge of the roof with ease before pulling herself up and running across it.

Alfimi floated over to Axel, Wendy following closely behind her. As the two of them approached him, the red haired man spoke up.

"Can you make a rift for us?"

The Einst solemnly nodded and lifted her hand, tearing open a small rift in reality. The three of them stepped through it, the rift closing quickly behind them. Near the main entrance, another rift opened up behind Nicholas, spitting out the three of them just in time to hear Liliane demanding answers before her body burst into flames. The woman was a familiar sight to both Axel and Wendy, who had fought alongside her before. Unsure of what was going on, Axel walked over to Liliane, his sword held loosely in his hand as he waited to see who would answer her questions. Alfimi and Wendy both hung back, waiting to see what would unfold. Above them, Atalanta had reached a good vantage point to oversee everything. She nocked an arrow as she continued to wait and observe. If needed, she would be ready to take action.

“’Scuse me, comin’ trough, watch the coat.” Kondraki made his way through the gathering crowd while taking small puffs of his smoke, the butterflies forever bound to him following from overhead. Really, couldn’t he go two seconds without having to deal with murderous, power-drunk entities trying to ruin his day? He just wanted to watch some legal bloodshed today. Keyword here being legal.

When he finally made it out of the crowd and into the little circle that had gathered, apparently a couple of other people had stepped up to deal with this bullshit. Nice, nice; help is always a good thing. “Hey, lady.” Kondraki called out to the horned woman as he took the smoke out of his mouth. “What’s your deal? You a monster, a demon, or just some dickhead in cosplay?” At this point in his life, it was really hard for Kondraki to give much of a fuck.

One of his many butterflies landed on his unused hand and tapped its legs in Morse code to communicate with Kondraki.

“…I doubt it’s all of the above. Just stay behind me until I give the command, aight?”

She hadn't been here for any grandiose purpose. Watching other people fight was almost never worth her time unless they were doing it for a particularly amusing reason, and it didn't take long for sparring to grow tiresome as well. She had other places where she could find better training, these days. In fact, the real reason Mima was here right now was just to try out the latest snacks. It was refreshing, seeing what bizarre concoctions these people managed to come up with.

So, when the prospect of something even mildly interesting came to her attention, the archmage was quick to follow. With her myriad forms of perception, it took her only an instant to ascertain the situation... not terribly nuanced, but she could spin something out of this. Convenient that she'd come here alone, save for Epsilon. She didn't really count, though. Of those that had gathered in protest - stupid and pointless as that was from its very core - only one of them was halfway notable. This was looking like if she left it alone, it'd turn out to be no good at all...

Completely ignoring Axel's party as well as Kondraki - to Mima, they may as well have been cardboard cutouts - the akuryou teleported behind Liliane, placing her hands on the Sacrier's bare shoulders in a casual, friendly manner before leaning forward and pointing at Nicholas.

"Ignore what the homeless scientist's going on about, he's got no clue, probably too hyped up on meth to tell his foot from his elbow, possibly demon-prejudiced to boot. It's definitely the guy that's at fault here, spouting racist self-righteous comments and the like. You know how it is with those types of rifters, don't you? ...Though, I doubt either of them are worth our time. Maybe you'd learn a thing or two if you watched some folks fighting for once instead of jumping right in, pick up some new techniques, eh?"

"The songs that their souls sing, they soothe me~"

(Next tag will be this next Sunday~)

Only a moment passed before the first real noteworthy person showed up. The Sacrier's question drew the gazes of both Nicholas and Lynness, and was already blazing, growing, and trying to pick out her target before she had the entire story. While Nicholas wasn't aware of the woman's identity, Lynness was - she'd done her research, after all, and it was hard not to hear about Liliane in relation to the Crater Coliseum. She was damn good at pleasing a crowd, after all.

She was also incredibly dangerous. Lynness hadn't seen her in action yet, but one didn't earn a reputation such as Liliane's for no reason.

Before either of the original combatants could answer, though, they were joined by several others. First by a man who made his way to Liliane's side, as well as two female companions of his that'd appeared just behind Nicholas. Lynness tilted her head at first - curious if they were somehow already acquainted with him - but the way Axel obviously moved away from him and toward the Sacrier, it was pretty clear that a prior association wasn't the case. The growing crowd of potential adversaries quickly grew by one, though, as yet another man stepped forward, this one directly accusing Lynness rather than waiting to find out who the guilty party was.

Typical human idiot, the goddess thought to herself. She was just preparing a response when Mima appeared behind Liliane - Lynness hadn't heard as much about her, but her spirit's song immediately set the goddess at ease. Whether she intended to be an enemy or a friend, at least her presence was more soothing than the others. That was good. Of course, her words were wasted.

"Oh please, do you think this Andelian would have the stomach for such things? Or that a spear could do damage like this?" Lynness asked, the corners of her mouth twitching upward just slightly as she casually swung her poleaxe out in a broad, sweeping motion. "No, I won't let anyone else falsely claim these kills as their own. This is my handiwork. Mine..."

Her green eyes drifted briefly down to the corpses before sweeping up and fixing on Kondraki in particular. "My name is Lynness... goddess of Oluris. And I'm only doing my job, alright? Fixing their broken existence~"

"This bitch," Nicholas spat, finally getting back to his feet and firmly gripping his spear in hand, "is responsible for hundreds... thousands of dead on Ceriden. We were told that she'd been slain, but somehow she's here... alive." Aiming his spear at the goddess, he slowly began advancing upon her, a stern glare permanently plastered on his face at this point even as sweat poured into his eyes. "Help me put her down.. don't let her get away with this barbarism!"

"You Andelians try to sound so noble," Lynness said calmly, chuckling softly to herself before glancing at the gathered crowd. "My divine mission is to free broken, imperfect beings from their own flawed existence... and given that it was humanity that gave me this mission, wouldn't it make more sense to join me? Any of you~?"

Suddenly a bunch of people gathered around them, one of which Liliane faintly recognised. "What are you doing here? This is dangerous and I'm more than enough to handle this. Get out of here if you don't want to get caught in the crossfire!" The Sacrier warned, worried that a fight between her and the killer could endanger everyone that's here right now. She sighed, hoping that this was the last distraction before she would find out who the murderer was, but she was once again interrupted when Mima did a Mima thing. Liliane looked behind her when she felt a hand on her shoulder and saw a familiar ghost standing behind her, accusing Nicholas of the killings. "You just got here, how do you -- nevermind that, why are you even here? I figured you didn't care about stuff like this?" Liliane sighed. "Well, whatever, we worked together once and you seem certain of yourself. If it's really him, this shouldn't last that long anyway..."

Liliane began to slowly walk towards Nicholas, cracking her knuckles and letting her flames completely envelop her. "Got anything to say for yourself?" she threatened, waiting a moment before she would strike in case he or someone else would say something. To her surprise, the other woman spoke up and readily admitted that she killed the family. And she was damn proud of it too.

The Sacrier's eyes widened when Lynness continued to talk about what she does, and together with Nicholas' explanation, she could feel an even greater rage boil up inside her. "Hundreds... thousands, you say? Did you really kill that many people? Or what did you call it? Freeing people from their own existence? How many died by your hands? How many people suffered because of your actions? Answer me!" Her flames flared up once more, but a moment later they died down, only to be replaced by a more powerful draconic energy that came from deep down inside her. The amount of energy she released was tremendous and threatening, so much that it would inspire dread in anyone who wasn't used to something like that.

The ex-pilot smirked at Liliane as she warned them to leave and that she could handle it. True she was rather strong and he had witnessed her strength firsthand in the New Valorian universe. But he was already run and he wasn't going to turn and run.

"I'll be fine Liliane. I'll just make sure to stay out of your way."

Axel flinched as Mima suddenly teleported in behind them and spoke to Liliane, laying the blame on Nicholas for the slaughter. He had ran across the woman when he first arrived in the Multiverse and lost in a fight against her during a training session. Ever since then, he didn't cross paths with her as he was busy with getting his life back together. Before he could protest that they didn't know if Nicholas was responsible, the horned woman in front of them proclaimed that she was the one who did it and introduced herself. He frowned as Nicholas started to advance on the goddess, informing them about who she was.

Axel tightened his grip on his sword and rolled his neck as he contemplated Lynness' question.

"No. I don't think I'll join you." He waved his hand in the general direction of the three people the woman had killed. "Not if it means this."

Wendy followed after Nicholas, summoning the wind to flow around her fists as she called out to Lynness. "T-This is wrong! You shouldn't be doing this!"

Alfimi stayed silent, taking a couple steps back as she pulled her demonic masks into reality, light pooling in the depths of their crevices as she prepared to blast Lynness with beams of light.

Atalanta pulled her bowstring tight, aiming the arrow at Lynness as she admitted to killing the people, one of whom was a child. She hesitated as the goddess mentioned her purpose in doing so. She lowered her bow and addressed the horned woman, her voice ringing out from her vantage point.

"The people that you killed...did they include children?"

Kondraki listened as intently as he could muster to the horned lady’s explanation for her actions. Something about freedom from mortality or whatever, he wasn’t paying too much attention all things considered; it was definitely nothing he hadn’t heard before from equally god-complexed subjects. (Could a literal God have a God Complex? Eh, he guessed they could if they weren’t monotheistic and the god referred to in the complex name was).

She’d killed how many people? Now Kondraki was paying a slight bit more attention. The loss of life was always an utmost tragedy, of course, but seeing as none of the people she’d killed were any he immediately cared about, it was hard for him to get riled up over it. In his line of work, he saw various people die in experiments nearly every single shift, most of them members of families expecting their eventual return. Compared to the daily toll SCP’s claimed both in and out of captivity… what was a few thousand more, really?

“I like your plan, lady.” Kondraki began as the butterflies around him tightened into closer packs, ready to transform at a moment’s notice. “There’s just one tiny little problem with it; it’s a truckfull of bullshit. Immortality already sounded like the worst fucking thing ever, you didn’t need to add “Pretentious head-up-your-own-ass ideals” to the list of reasons why it sucks.”

Now that the big picture was plainly apparent, it was clear to Kondraki that this horned lady could not go uncontained. “So go on, give your little rant about how foolish mortals will never know bliss or whatever uppity assotry you planned on spouting so we can get on with it already. You just split innocent people open like faulty Lego, so whatever you say or do now’s not gonna save you.”
