How easy it was to slip into human habits.

Jeanne had lost track of the days, roaming the oddity of a world she had come to. Creatures that would have been slaughtered by the dozens for interfering with human life in her own time co-existed with them a happy balance. Though she’d never fully admit it, as was typical of her, the woman was lonely by nature, and did not particularly mind the attention of the creatures that dwelled there. This was the only reason she had not bothered roaming somewhere else. ...Or, at least, that’s what she would continue to believe.

However, her departure from Chaldea was… fresh. She was entirely unused to not having a place to exist, be it a castle or the snowy compound. Jeanne had effectively found herself homeless, which made wandering about in her new predicament that much more arduous.

Such is why, as the afternoon sun filtered down through the sparse cracks in the wooden roof of a barn, Jeanne napped peacefully in a pile of hay that definitely was not her own. She had very little care if the owners of the property she’d wander onto found her there-- after all, if they complained about her presence, she could just kill them. It’s not as if she particularly valued human life. People be damned, the pile was too enticing for even the dragon witch to ignore.

It was there, snoozing away with little regard for other people’s belongings, that two unsuspecting kids would come across her snuggled deep into the hay, her fur-lined jacket draped over her like a small blanket. It was rare that this woman, so full of rage and contempt, would ever come close to looking peaceful. Yet, here she laid, without a care.

Nah and Yarne have been away, buying seeds to add to their collection while they decide on layout of the field. Hay was the easiest thing to prepare since it's always in near-abundance on agrocultural markets, which was a good thing since they needed a head start before the season's end. Preparing soil for next season with some easy crops would help their harvests in the long term.

They did not expect a guest sleeping in a haystack right outside their house. A fairly endowed, even if pale, woman, was laying in a haystack right next to their house, covered by what seemed to be her own jacket. Even with these attempts to apparently keep herself warm, neither Nah or Yarne thought that she was truly safe from the elements outside, especially if a strong wind blows. Using all their surprisingly well-hidden strength, they carried woman into the home onto a currently free bed.

Whenever she woke up, the dragon witch would find herself in what seems to be a merged bedroom and living room, with two teenagers, girl with bright green hair, sharp ears and in pretty green dress, and boy mostly covered in fur from head to toes, with leather armor and wrapping covering the rest. They were playing chess, and the girl seemed to be winning the match, as they discussed what tactical mistakes each one allowed.

Sun spots faded from her dreams, yet she somehow felt warmer-- the only image that remained before she stirred in the waking world was dark footprints in the snow, and the familiar hand of a master whose face ebbed away. Perhaps she was being pulled back to Chaldea, or perhaps...

Jeanne's eyes snapped open, and the woman sat bolt upright in the unfamiliar bed. Disoriented, she grasped around for her belongings, frantically scrambling to right herself from such an embarrassing situation before her cold, gilded eyes fell upon the two others in the room. They seemed to pay her presence no mind, as they chatted away and played their game. Their appearance was already strange, nothing like the visages of others that inhabited this area-- no, they looked almost as uncanny as a servant. However, Jeanne knew better. Judging by the dimensions of the inside of this tiny place, she might have been carried inside from the stranger's barn she had dozed off in. Still, the situation was unsettling.

The woman launched herself from the bed irritably, not bothering to cover herself and put her jacket back on. Seething she simply stared at the two, preparing to reprimand them for their insolence in laying a finger on her, when her eyes fell the the female in particular. Something familiar radiated out from her, and Jeanne's mind flashed with several faces, the most prominent being that of a certain corrupted Saber. This aura, it couldn't be.... not from such an innocent looking face.

Jeanne had been ready to condemn these children to a fiery hellscape, but rethinking her actions for just a moment, she straightened up, pretending to have just gotten over a bout of disorientation.

"... I am correct in assuming that this establishment belongs to the two of you, yes? Then I must... thank..." she murmured, her face going tense at the word 'thank', "... you... for bringing me inside after carelessly dozing off."

She followed her words with an awkward, piercing stare. Evil rolled off of her in waves, but she did her best mock-up of a dignified civilian. The same thought as before still stood: if worse came to worse, she'd just kill them. Who cared, right?

"...so your king ended up in a position where it couldn't escape the eventual mate." Nah finished the analysis of one the more crucial mistakes that Yarne has made, before she noticed that their guest has got off the bed... and they were looking quite angry. But, of course, she kept her calm and waited until after the guest has addressed them. She has gestured the taguel to do the same, as to avoid further aggravating their apparently very cranky guest.

Though, at his point, boy took the initiative, "Yes, kinda. And we couldn't just leave you outside," taking a deep breath, he continued, "I hope that you understand that we've not wished to harm you."

Nah piped in from behind Yarne, where she apparently got while the taguel had the dragon witch's attention, "Do you want to stay for tea?"

Jeanne blinked. Had... had this furry-eared, dopey faced child just insinuated that they might have been capable of harming her? She was too dumbstruck to speak, simply staring back at them with a vacant expression before tossing her head back and giving them an exasperated bark of laughter. The sound was odd, coming from her.

"Harm me? Oh, please," she snarled quietly, grabbing her jacket and cramming her thin, pale arms back into the sleeves.

She had every intention of absconding to watch from a distance, lacking any desire to get caught up in the tomfoolery of two boring farmers in any direct sense, but paused once the girl posed the question. True, Jeanne could be flighty, but... she turned her head, squinting at the girl once more. ... or, she thought, she could still achieve her goals indirectly. Perhaps, she hoped, these kids were as dumb as they looked.

"...Why not?" came her stiff reply, crossing her arms deftly across her chest. "I don't... see why not."

The couple was not oblivious to palpable aura of malevolence around that woman and, even though it felt unpleasant, decided to willingly ignore it. If she becomes a trouble, they can handle it. If she doesn't, they can become friends. Besides, leaving behind no ill will is important in any interaction, and definitely leaves the safer after the fact. Nah nodded to the black Jeanne, before walking into the kitchen. Yarne set up the table in the middle of the room and pulled up an extra chair.

Yarne might have been trying to be courageous, but it was pretty obvious that he was slightly afraid... But save for occasional fidgeting and gulps, he really tried to not let it show. The taguel looked the dragon witch in the eyes, "Is there anything you want to talk about? People... People usually don't hate everything in their vicinity, do they?"

She knew very well that they would understand that she wasn't exactly the most pleasant person-- the way she sat stiffly, squinting at the both of them as if they were enemy Servants, ready to take her head. She knew her discomfort around basic people was exceedingly irrational, and she knew that it made no sense to even stick around in this cramped little house if she felt this way. Still, it wasn't as if she had anything particularly pressing to do, and even if she did, being by herself all the time was getting boring, regardless of what she'd admit out loud.

She eyed the taguel for a moment, lips twitching. His general timidness made her want tank on his years, but she would refrain. For now. Leabing back in the chair and crossing a single pallid leg over the other, she instead tugged her lips into a cocky smile, twisting her long, pale honey hair around her finger.

"Oh, I don't hate everything," she murmured nonchalantly, pretending to examine her nails. Her voice was frank, and clipped. "Just most things. Humanity, actually. But neither of you fit that category, do you?"

She smiled wickedly, tapping her foot to a rhythm only she heard.

"And what exactly are you? You don't look like the typical weak, squishy riff raff you usually find in these parts."

She was cocky, or so it seemed to be. The way she held herself, the way she treated what could appear be her own species. Yarne couldn't understand it. Not that he couldn't understand why, but the attitude itself, he couldn't just imagine hating "his own category", in her words. The taguel swallowed, wondering, how he should proceed next. But he felt safe right now. The woman wasn't about to start a fight in the middle of house just because, and that was already calming.

Yarne decided to humor her, "I'd not have such distaste to men-spawn, I had many admirable allies in my time as a soldier. I am myself a taguel. This name might not tell you a lot, but some could say that we're like beastly men... Which wouldn't be too inaccurate, except the order is reversed." As Yarne spoke, he put his hands on table, revealing dried off command seals on his right hand.

The taguel waited for the dragon witch to respond, though he didn't expect her to do more than acknowledge what was said.

If she had any strong feeling towards the sight of command seals, she did not show it. She simply gazed on, her expression unreadable as her menacing, gold eyes scanned the remnants of violence past. She wondered whether this boy understood what she was, or if it was coincidence. He seemed an unlikely master, but he was successful in capturing her attention in a much less antagonistic way.

"So... those... symbols," she began, measuring his mettle with a cool tone. "Where did such a thing occur? You do not strike me as the type to brand himself needlessly. Is there significance in these things you show me, then?"

She would make no commitment to acknowledging whether or not she knew what he showed her, only watching him with measured interest.

Yarne was caught off-guard by their guest's questions, before he noticed what was on his hands... and then he firmly gathered himself, now more certain in what he faces. While the taguel tried to recall the details, Nah has emerged from kitchen, having placed the pot full of water on burner. She has apparently overheard the conversation, as she sighed.

"A Heroic Spirit requested that we participate in a Holy Grail War at his behest. He has fallen. Even though his existence was ephemeral..." Nah spoke softly, but firmly, "His dream, his wish, was truly alive. That's why."

"We will carry on that wish of his," Yarne continued, "I assume you are a Heroic Spirit yourself?"
