Shin Managi
The Demifiend

There was a flash of light in the sky that night; and a shooting star that seemed to race across it towards the nearby mountains of the Johto region; and then the sound of a great impact, the whump-boom of an explosion. And that morning, there was a man groggily awakening inside the crater his banishment had left; utterly lost and confused. His tatoo's glowing brightly, he arose from that impact sight to scan the area, rubbing the back of his head as he surveyed the blast zone of his landing spot. The pain is a familiar thing to this man, even as it races through every fiber of his being. It's the only familiar thing about his surroundings in fact; having spent most of his life either in urban Japan or the ceaseless chaos of the Vortex World he's never seen a place so.. verdant and alive.

As he pulls himself to sit upright he let's out a tired sigh, closing his eyes to try and gather his thoughts on how he came to be here; and it is in this state that he remains, almost meditative, for several minutes of utter silence amidst the clearing made by his impact with the planet's surface. And in those minutes, he remembers all too well how he came to be here; yet finds that information more worrying than useful. Images of a great light; Kagatsuchi come once more, his world enveloped in destruction- and then the sensation of a great hand plucking him from it's surface to cast him far away...

And then a sensation of immense loss, as he felt himself fall through chaos into some other place entirely; and then finally, the pain of the impact. He feels within himself, and notes the absence of some of his Magatama, and a great reduction of his own power. He feels within himself, and feels that many of his contracts and pacts with countless demons that had formed his legions have been severed. He feels within himself; and for the first time in almost a decade, he is totally alone in his own soul. With a weary and tired sigh, he finally pushes himself up to stand, and survey his surroundings with a sad frown.

"Just where have I been thrown, then... this is no Vortex World, that's for sure; but then what is it? Another time..? Some other part of the world..?"

The impact site stirred up a commotion in the local wildlife, several brown birds and purple rats scattering with various noisy cries. Certainly, the flashy almost-meteoric entrance hadn't gone unnoticed.

And, around the time the man finally started to get up, there was the sound of a girl's voice, cheerfully humming to herself, approaching from the trees that blanketed the mountains.

A short girl, dressed in black from head to toe with even jet-black hair that stretched to almost her feet, drifted into view, sitting on an equally black broomstick that floated in the air.

On seeing the man standing there, she blinked, and one of the oversized cat ears that poked out of a slit in her hat twitched. She almost looked disappointed.

"...Well, you're not a meteor. Awfully weird one if you are, anyhow."

Shin turns, blinking a few times as he spots the girl- the witch whose arrival stirs him from his inward contemplation. The runes and tattoos upon his body glow faintly as she draws near; lines of brilliant green etched into his chiseled form. The man is currently clad in naught but black Hakama trousers, and sneakers; a sharp contrast to the heavily clothed witch before him.

"....I've been called a lot of things, but .... Yeah. A meteorite sure ain't on the list." He grumbles in Japanese; waiting to see if she responds to the language; and if not, repeating himself in English a moment later.

He cracks his shoulders as he turns to fully face the girl, his expression dour and deeply unhappy, and his body visibly battered and bruised from the impact. He looks like he got thrown into a trash compactor when it was on... or alternatively, like a man who was just used as a projectile by a mass driver aimed at a planet.

"....I'm Shin. Who're you, and where the hells am I?"

Chlomaki giggled as she was spoken to, her tail flicking idly from side to side. Her cheery attitude quickly bounced back.

"Eheheh~ Well, even if you're not one, seems I found something interesting anyways. Name's Chlomaki. This is Johto, part of Pokeworld," the catgirl said, shifting position on her broomstick to lean back on thin air in a silly fashion.

"Nice to meet you, yo."

Hmm, so who was this guy she'd come across, anyways? Despite her relaxed demeanor, Chlomaki was watching Shin, quietly observing.

And whatever Shin is, he's clearly not human. The countless green lines marking his body could be tatoos; if not for the faint light pulsating from within them, a vibrant energy that seems to exude from him palpably. Then there's the back of his neck; from which a horn sprouts. An odd place for one, to be sure; but there it is. Resting, curled up on the horn and his shoulders, is what looks to be a tiny woman in tights, with insectile wings folded about herself; some kind of small faerie?

"...Johto? Pokeworld..? Neither of those words ring a bell... But nice to meet you too, Chlomaki." The young man says with a dour frown. He looks around; spotting a few of those strange purple rats scurrying by the clearing; looking over then bounding away.

"...So what the hell's a Pokeworld, and where the hell's a Johto? Not to be rude, but... I've got no idea where I am, and what you've said so far? That didn't help. Uh... you don't look human, so maybe I can ask- where's a Terminal? I need to get back to the Amala Labyrinth so I can hitch a ride back home along the data-streams to Earth and give YHVH the what-for, so if you can at least tell me how to get /there/ from here, that'd be great. I'm sure I can find a way to help pay you back if I gotta, or something."

"Ahhhh..." Chlomaki nodded as Shin spoke, as if his failure to recognize their surroundings was not only... not unexpected or strange, but explained a fair bit. "I mean, you're not wrong, I'm not a human, I'm a witch. That said, about this 'terminal' thing.. Well, okay, sooo I have bad news and worse news for you, Shin."

The catgirl drifted down, landing on the ground and standing upright. With a twirl, she stowed her broom away... somewhere. A faint flash of magic, and a bit of clever sleight of hand, made it hard to tell just where it had vanished to.

"So, bad news, this is the Multiverse. A dumb name for it, really, but what can you do. It's a weird plane of reality that's sort of like the Hotel California of dimension-hopping: you can get here stupidly easily without even trying, and you are going to have one heck of a time trying to get back to where you came from," she said, looking up at him and lightly crossing her arms in front of her chest. Her tail swished once more. "I'm not familiar with this 'terminal' concept you're looking for, unless you just need a regular computer? Anyways..."

"Worse news is?" One of her ears flicked. "I can almost guarantee you also got hit with what we call 'The Drain'. Whatever powers and stuff you have? Prooobably nerfed to heck, but at least if you actually put any effort into it you can get 'em back up to speed."

There is a moment of total silence as he stares at her. His eyes bulge slightly; the air grows heavy. The countless lines of energy on his body flare; and then go still as he slowly nods at her, blinking. He let's that soak in as his fury grows higher; the bad news being one of the most horrible sets of news he's received in a long time.

There is, for a moment, as those runic markings on his flesh glow, a sudden increase in pressure- but then nothing happens, and he seems to grow more visibly agitated, if that is actually possible. Another long moment passes, and he takes a deep breath to calm himself.

"...I see. I see! So I'm stuck in some alternate dimension, it'll take forever to get home- meaning that by the time I'm done that asshole of a God'll have finished what he was trying to do- and I'm weak again!? After all the shit I went through- all the battles I endured- I have to put up with starting back at the bottom!?" He roars out; his eyes agleam with fury... for a moment.

And then he takes a deep breath, and slowly shakes his head.

"...Fuckin' A. Let me just- give me a second." The demon turns, and points at a tree, focusing; as he does so, a tiny spark of light erupts from his finger, but no more. This repeats in variations or alternate forms a few times over the next minute, as he runs through his mental 'list' of spells a few times...

And then finally, something happens; as upon the final attempt, a wave of cool energy overcomes him.

"....And all I've got left is shitty low level healing magic, confirming what you said. Well... thanks for the data, I guess... fuckkk. So, you got demons in this multiverse place? Cathedrals of Shadows? That creepy Mido guy who likes fusing demons?"

Chlomaki stood by calmly, watching him go through the general newcomer's initial flipout. Yeah, she expected this, but it wasn't as if she actually felt threatened. And finally, he settled down after testing his basic spells.

She responded with a casual thumbs-up. "Hey, someone had to tell you, and at least this way you don't get surprised in a fight or something," she said. "Shame about the asshole god you're missing out on curbstomping, that would have been fun to watch, but eh. At least now you get to be in the same place as the best witch~"

She pondered his other question for a moment. While she didn't exactly recognize the specifics beyond 'demons', and that was so generic a term as to be borderline useless...

"Oh, probably somewhere. Or a serviceable equivalent. Like, I know I use familiars to get new and better magic," Chlomaki said, tailtip idly flicking once. "Critters on this planet are pretty good for that. I have a six foot tall sapient fire-breathing badger who's loyal to me and lets me use fire magic. So even if you can't find exaaactly what you're used to... You'll almost certainly find something that's close enough to make do."

Shin stares at her for a long, long moment. It's not exactly common to see a hulking demon-man sulk, but sulk he seems to be doing. His shoulders squared, his back slightly arched, and the pixie on his shoulders still entirely passed out and apparently comatose, he slowly nods at her, as he tucks his hands into his pockets and sighs faintly.

"...Right. I guess there's a lot of shit to take care of. Though... if I can't reclaim my full power, and get back quickly, my entire home world's probably gone by now. In fact... almost certainly, considering how I.." The man trails of, scowling as he realizes exactly what was going on back home.

He looks up to the sky, and raises a hand out of his pocket; signalling his middle finger to the heavens above.

"....So, best witch? Mighty grand title to be giving yourself there, Chlomaki. Does anyone else call you that?" He inquires, as he continues to give his middle finger to the skies above in a grand salute.

...Hm. So, his world was falling victim to that sort of thing, and he wasn't there to stop it, huh? Chlomaki almost felt sorry for the guy. Even if he'd manage to figure things out and make do here, like she had, it was... sometimes hard not to feel bad about some of the things you'd left behind.

That was something she didn't want to dwell on, and so when he gave her an opportunity to steer her thoughts away from that course, she jumped on it. Maybe it'd do them both some good, hm?

"Yeah, my girlfriend, in bed," Chlomaki said without missing a beat, keeping an entirely straight face as she did. "And one of my ex-patients, but she was probably just being nice."

And it's that simple statement that wipes the relaxed smirk off of his face, destroys the scowl that came before it, annihilates the thing he was about to say, and replaces it all with a brief spluttering and then a coughing fit. He then takes a long, deep breath to focus and calm himself, his eyes wide as they turn to look her up and down. He takes a moment to think; as if realizing that yes, he most definitely did hear that right.

"...Well. I. . Okay. Alright then- I uh. Sounds like credible, if biased, sources. And seeing as I can't summon Scathath or Lilith anymore to protest or argue the matter, I'll uh. . As someone who isn't a witch, concede the point.." He states, trailing off awkwardly.

"...So. Right. Ways to gather power back.."

Chlomaki, to her credit, managed to go a full twenty seconds before bursting into hysterical laughter, grinning widely.

"Ahahahaha, oh man, oh man you should see your face!" She trailed off into giggles, then straightened up, face still stretched into a gleeful smile. "Wahaha, so worth it... Ahh..."

She took a breath to try and regain her composure. Her stupid grin still hadn't gone anywhere.

"Well. Eheh. Really, your power will come back just through, like, training and practicing. You can also go looking for stuff, there tends to be useful stuff around the place," the catgirl said. "Aaand if you make some money, I sell magic items. Commission work, modifications, magical girl soul surgery, you name it. Want my card?"

Without waiting for him to have a chance to decline, she snapped her fingers, and a jet-black business card with crisp white writing materialized in her hand and she offered it to the Demi-Fiend.

The lithe demon stares at her for a moment, as he straightens himself out and accepts the business card. He takes a deep, calming breath as he closes his eyes and breathes in and out, and then opens those piercing yellow eyes once more. He looks the business card up and down, then tucks it into his pocket while slowly nodding.

"....I see. Magic items, huh..? I never really bothered with gear the first time around.. but I guess it couldn't hurt. After all, main reason for that was that no one sold any in the vortex world.." The man muses quietly, as he rubs the back of his head. "...Think you could help me find stuff, instead, though? I feel like some of my shit got scattered, and uh . . you don't really wanna see someone who shouldn't have a Magatama, with a Magatama..." The man trails of and sighs.

"....Anyway, uh. Thanks for the explanation. I appreciate it. There any major problems or grand schemes and slash or plots I should be aware of, in this neck of the woods?"

As he speaks the pixie curled up between his shoulders stretches out and droopily begins to flutter her wings, rising up to look around sleepily as she climbs from the back of his neck, onto the top of his head, amidst his wild hair, and looks around.

Well, it seemed her joking had lightened his mood as well. Unintended, yes, but still an overall plus.

"Yeah, I can totally keep an eye out. Helps if I can, you know, look at an example so I know what I'm looking for, of course..." Chlomaki watched Shin with a still-cheery smile, but her ears had tilted slightly with further interest. Her tail gave a slow flick.

"As far as current events? Hm... Well, not too much I can think of. Er, maybe if a little white rat thing offers you a wish, you probably should say no. Don't bother trying to kill it either, it's got a ridiculous amount of spare bodies. That said, Multiverse is a big place and I'm not up-and-up on everything, so," she said, giving an exaggerated shrug.

The pixie's sudden awakening caught Chlomaki's interest, but again, she showed little outward sign of this, beyond a subtle twitch of her tailtip and her gaze shifting to the tiny being.

Shin spent a moment thinking it over; his brow furrowing as he contemplated the situation at hand. An example of what she's looking for, she asked- well, he supposes he can answer. Meanwhile the Pixie was waking up all the way, and peering from amidst Shin's messy hair before fluttering into the air. She looked around, yawning sleepily as her insectile wings fluttered, before blanching and staring as Shin reaches into his own throat.

The man's body convulses several times; before he rips something free out of his mouth. It initially seems to be a wriggling thing of white metal, an insect of some kind that wriggles and writhes; tendrils of blackness extending from it's mouth into his before he severs that tie. It then curls up into a more stoic form; that white metal sealing around it's maw. It seems to curl up into a small curled up form.

And then he reaches into his trousers, and pulls out something similar; only, this one is dark purple in hue. He let's it unfurl one more, and then ingests it like a noodle- slurping it down for it to slide down into his maw. He cracks his shoulders and sighs faintly.

"Magatama. The essence of demonic power... I still remember those words. These things; living creatures and items of magic at the same time... they store demonic energy and power in many varieties. They are even capable of converting a human into a being like myself, if used properly; and can grant a wide variety of demonic powers to those who bear them. By my counting, I've got most of mine, but. . some of the stronger ones are missing, for some reason. If they got scattered about this place.."

"Hmhmm, I see..." Chlomaki peered closely at the little Magatama bug thing, her tail giving a thoughtful flick. It wasn't just its outside appearance she was observing, either, but the power it held as well.

She continued to watch as he switched it out for another, gaze alert every moment that they were visible. Finally, when he had finished his explanation, the witch gave a nod.

"Well, those are neat. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the ones you lost... Hey, if I do find one, can I borrow it for a bit?" No sign of disgust, or malice. Chlomaki just flashed him another amused smile.

That done, she lifted her hand and waved hello to the pixie, seeing as the tiny fairy was apparently awake now.

For a long moment, Shin was silent and observant of the being before him. The Pixie as well perked up at the request, even as her master's eyes narrowed in suspicion. After a few more moments though, Shin nodded, and then spoke.

"So be it. I'm in no position to bargain overmuch, unfortunately. Though I warn you- I don't know to what extent anyone else can use them. None of the people I met in my old world could; and my use started after a very powerful being infused me with the first." He warned; before letting out a tired and wistful sigh as the old memories flooded through him. He paused for a long moment...

And as he did, the Pixie yawned and kicked off his shoulders to flutter forwards. "Hehe. You're kinda cute looking, but I wonder... Anyway. Nice to meet you- I'm sure the big guy missed out on the polite greetings, soo- Hello! A pleasure to meet you! I'm Pixie, and this is Shin Managi. Formerly called 'The Demifiend', but I doubt anyone here recognizes that title. .Hehehe.." She giggled playfully, even as Shin steps forward and grabs her by the scruff of her neck and tugged her away.

". . And she's also a loudmouth. Anyway. With that. . agreed. Got any suggestions on where to go first? I want off this place. ."

Well, it seemed he wasn't exactly excited about the idea of Chlomaki borrowing a Magatama, but she didn't exactly care. Studying one of them sounded like a great time, and she wasn't going to let any silly things like 'common sense coming from a guy who knows about them' get in her way if she got the chance.

So she just gave a quiet affirmative noise, and then her attention was promptly grabbed by Shin's small companion.

"Nice to meet you, Pix. Name's Chlomaki, I already said so to him." Chlomaki giggled, completely unfazed by the tiny fairy's method of greeting. "Hee. Well, you can get information and get around to pretty much wherever you want from most of the big cities here. And the fastest way to civilization would be for me to give you a lift. I'm feeling charitable, if you're up for that."

With a flourish, the witch pulled her broomstick out of... exactly where had it been hidden? She proceeded to set it horizontally in the air, where it stayed as if she had set it on a table.

The pixie was about to open her mouth again, but Shin's hand snatched her out of the air, muffling whatever she was about to say until she beat on his hand and pouted. He rolled his eyes, then focused back on Chlomaki, and her bizarre method of transportation. A broomstick was far from the strangest way to get around he'd ever seen, but it's still outside his realm of experiences. He stared for a long moment, contemplating the sight before him, before shrugging and stepping forwards.

"Sure. Works for me- you're the one who knows their way around this place. And. . don't mind Pix. She's a bit. . odd." He declared calmly, as he stroked his chin and approached the broom.

"So do I just . . climb aboard and mimic your posture on this thing? How does it even fl- . . Magic, I'd assume, but. . what kind?"

Hm. The decision to shut Pixie up wasn't entirely unsurprising, but Chlomaki sort of wished he hadn't, mostly because she had a feeling whatever she would have said would've been pretty funny. Ah well.

"I don't mind her," Chlomaki said with a half-shrug. "Odd is relative anyhow."

While Shin eyed her trusty vehicle, Chlomaki hopped on, swinging one leg over the broom's handle and taking hold of it, making sure to leave enough room for a passenger behind her.

"Yeah, just hop on, get comfy, and make sure you're holding on. And..." Chlomaki considered the question a moment. "Mm... Well, it's a standard, but not actually that simple, enchantment. Gravity manipulation, little air magic... If you really want, I could break that down more, but I'd usually just kinda file it under 'general witchery'."
