Well, it seemed that Iji's sudden appearance had gotten everyone's tensions running high. Weiss immediately stepped forward, putting herself between everyone and shooting glances at anyone who so much as twitched.

"This is not worth starting a fight over," the white-haired girl said, barely able to restrain a mix of irritation and exasperation from completely taking over her demeanor.

Naoto quickly cut in, seizing the opportunity.

"Okay, if Aliasse is right and there is a basement--which is looking pretty likely at this point--breaking into it would be the fastest way, but she has a point, we should do it carefully so we don't accidentally injure anyone who's down there," the investigator said.

"Exactly. Don't blow it up, this is a confined space and that's completely irresponsible! Just damage the floor enough to start moving bricks. If a few smaller pieces fall, that's different than caving in the entire hallway on someone," Weiss huffed, unsure whether she should be glad Naoto handled it well or angry she stole her moment. "And someone who can't actually help with that part should go tell the officers outside what we're doing so they don't try to arrest anyone for destruction of an important archeological site or something."

She gave Naoto a pointed stare.

"Hey! I could absolutely help with--yeah no, you're right, I can't help break up the floor." Naoto's reflex to protest against Weiss was quickly tempered by the realization that she was right.

The Faunus stared at Weiss for a moment, before he shrugged at the heiress.

"Whatever you said Ice Queen." Azure spoke before he turned toward Iji and Aliasse. "If you like, I can make you two a Grave Gun to start digging around. That's including you girls too." Referring to Weiss and Naoto, Azure use his semblance to create four more Grave Guns for the girls, he then turned toward his companion. "Would you like to join too?"

"No thanks, I'm gonna check around the place for a while." Cheripha spoke before she went to the hallway, while Venom only shrugged in response before the soldier went after the former assassin. "We be back in a jiffy!"

The Faunus sighed for a moment before facing toward them.

"So... Anyone want to dig with this?"

Aliasse grimaced, almost startled by Iji's sheer hostility to her suggestion. Even she wouldn't have immediately resorted to intimidation. Her mild shock, however, faded quickly faded to frustration. Aliasse straightened her posture and looked Iji right in the eye, to make the point that despite anomaly didn't scare her, "Well I won't then," Aliasse told her, her tone almost combative, despite giving Iji what she wanted, "Here's a tip though: just say 'No'. Because if I can put up with a New Valorian, you can put up with basic social skills, alright?"

Normally, Aliasse wouldn't have been that combative. Between being in a foul mood already, and not wanting to look weak in front of Weiss and Naoto, two people who she didn't entirely trust to say the least though, though, she wasn't in the mood to take guff from Iji. Not to mention that given her introduction, despite the niece thing, Iji seemed like the type who got what she wanted through intimidation and threats, something she wanted to nip in the bud. She already was frustrated enough having to cooperate with a New Valorian, dealing with New Valorian and a bully would probably result in someone nominally on her side getting shot.

Esther tried to creep around Iji, trying to move a fair distance behind Iji, so she'd be surrounded if she tried anything. She took a deep breath when Azure had her back on this, and Naoto had a point. She rolled her eyes when a New Valorian started criticizing her over the destructiveness of her suggestion, something she saw as more than a little hypocritical, but she could appreciate the merits of the arguement. Keep destruction down.

"Alright, subtle break through, yeah, sounds good to me. I can't help personally; never done fine tuned control of my fire like that before." Aliasse told them, not taking her eyes off Iji until she knew whether the other girl would back down. In retrospect, she was starting to realize this might have not been the best choice, but she wasn't backing down now.

"If you have any problems with it, then tell me now. And don't threaten me this time."

Iji turned her head toward azure as he issued his challenge, regarding the youngster with the wolf ears (a bit unusual but not the strangest thing in the multiverse by a long shot) with a look that mingled acknowledgement, sympathy, and an utter refusal to yield. It took a lot to be the one to immediately challenge an unknown opponent in defense of what was yours - she knew that better than most - but nothing in her demeanor gave any indication that she would hesitate to strike him down if necessary.

The others intervened before she felt the need to take any action, however, suggesting a much saner - and safer - course of action. That got the youngster to back down but the woman Iji had challenged refused to do the same. Rapidly approaching a boiling fury, Iji didn't notice the Pokemon moving past her as her attention snapped back to Aliasse. "If you can put up with...? How about I put a..."

"Mistress!" the fox's voice snapped from behind her, for once loud enough to be heard by the entire party. The fox had seated himself not three feet from the creeping minccino, eyes gleaming brightly in the gloom. "These are not they who have stolen your kin."

Iji froze as her mind worked its way through her companion's statement. She glanced back, then took a few deep, shuddering breaths as she brought herself back under control. She stepped back an lifted her hands in a placating gesture. "Sorry I... I'm really worried about my niece right now. I don't want to loose her again." She let the words hang, then added softly, "If we take things nice and steady, everything will be fine." This time she sounded as if she was trying to convince herself.

After a moment she shook herself and wandered over to Azure. "Sure, kid," she said, holding out a hand for the shovel, "If we're going to start prying this place apart, I don't want to be using my bare hands."

Her motion left aliases in clear view of the fox, who regarded her with a gaze that gleamed with more than reflected light. No sooner had he laid eyes on her than he projected his voice into her ear, low enough and soft enough that no one else could hear it. "My mistress is gentle, but there is naught she values more highly than the welfare of her kin. If you rile her thus again, I will not restrain her." Then he stood and - with a cursory sniff at Esther - returned to searching for signs that his merely mortal companion could not discern.

As Cheriphia and Venom started off to check around the place, Naoto shook her head. "No, you can work on the digging. I'll be back." She too set off back into the rest of the structure, headed for the exit.

Weiss eyed the shovel-shotgun a bit distastefully, but accepted one anyways. She experimentally wedged the tip between some of the bricks, and started trying to pry one loose. This was easier said than done, as the structure was very solidly built.

Finally, someone--perhaps Iji or Azure--would be able to remove a brick, and once they did, it was likely that only the fox would notice the subtle otherworldly power that started to seep into the room like water welling up from below. The same sensation had started to trickle back from the front of the building as well...

---

Even as the attempt at dismantling the floor started, Naoto quickly closed the distance back to the exit, glad to be away from the others for a moment, even if it was selfish to think so. She just hoped she wouldn't come back to see them fighting again...

...but as she neared the door, her pace slowed. Rather than the sunlight streaming in that she expected to see, there was an oddly muted purple light spilling across the floor. The investigator crept closer, and carefully leaned around the edge of the door just enough to get a look at the outside.

Rather than the beach and police officer, the outside had been replaced by a strange purple, twisted expanse of open space. Floating rocks made a stairway of sorts to a stretch of pitted moonscape, which branched off in one direction into a military-esque facility and in another into broken-up stone pillars, and as she stared, a few strange floating letters with large eyes that resembled the carvings inside the ruins drifted past, making odd noises that made Naoto's head spin a little. She ducked back inside and started back to the others, frowning. This, uh, explained things...

"Hmm, the structure on the ground is very solid. So we need to pry it harder." Azure analyze as he stared at the ground before placing his hand on what's look like a trigger mechanizing. "Everyone, better stand back for a moment." He told the group as the Faunus prepare to press it.

Once everyone stood back, Azure pull the trigger.

BANG!

The recoil has caused the shovel to kick upward suddenly, cause a large chunk of brick to be thrown away from the ground. Fortunately, Azure positioned himself to make sure that none of the group would suddenly get covered by dirt.

"Alright, that should work." Azure nodded to himself while letting out with a childlike grin at the work he had done. "Should I continue?"
With Venom and Cheripha...

"It is just me, or did something had change in here?"Cheripha wondered as the two went through the ruins, patrolling the ruins to find anything that could clue them in. Venom could only grunt in response as he keep his eyes around the place to make sure there wouldn't be any mistake. "Hm, guess it's just me then." Cheripha spoke once more before continuing on patrolling the ruins.

However, as they are nearer to the exit, the two had noticed something... Off.

Instead of the ray of sunlight shining from the exit, a muted purple light spill across the floor. After giving each other a worrying glances, the two went toward the exit to see what's happening outside, only to see Naoto going back inside.

"Um, miss Naoto." Cheripha called out to the investigator as the former assassin approach her. "Please tell me what's going on outside?"

A Valkyria, not a Valkyrie

For a moment, it looked like a fight was about to break out - not that interparty conflict wasn't the order of the day, what with everyone and their mother having something on the line, and a New Valorian was joining in on the 'fun'. Thankfully, a fox managed to help tone down the conflict. Despite her love of violence, she didn't actually want to start a fight with someone who was ostensibly on the same side as her. She sighed as well, "That's okay. I've... kinda had a rough time lately. It's..." Her head moved very slightly towards Weiss, who might not have been responsible for the death of her family, but was affiliated with their killers.

She took a deep breath, before refocusing on the conversation, "It's not something that would be good to talk about right now."

She was barely into this mission, and she already felt like she'd been on a long march. Her muscles didn't ache, she hadn't even broken a sweat, but she was already getting tired. She took a moment to lean against the wall, "I can't wait until this is over." Aliasse muttered. A part of her regretted even going there. She didn't have any personal stake in the matter, and she was already in shit shape emotionally, before having to deal with New Valorians and Iji.

Back to the previous conflict, she looked back at Azure. She'd honestly prefer to have a moment to collect herself, but duty called, "You came prepared didn't you?" Most people didn't bring supplies to whip up some specialized tool. She almost had to grin at the demonstration, "Sure, I'll take one though."

Before she could actually get one though, some otherworldly aura seemed to seep into the room. Aliasse drew her gun, and aimed it at the floor, "On second thought, someone needs to make sure of some weird thing comes out of the floor, it dies quickly."

Unlike Azure and Naoto, she chose to focus her eyes and aim on the spot of floor they'd been digging at, rather than check the outside. Aliasse was tempted to break her attention, but she was not turning around and getting stabbed in the back by a demon with knives for hands.

"Aaaand great. What's going on now?"

She was hoping it would be a simple matter of going below the temple and shooting the culprit. Now it seemed like it was going to get far more complicated.

And now Iji felt vaguely ashamed, as though in trying to guard her own metaphysical wounds she'd ended up tearing into someone else's... and that just wasn't okay. She wanted to say something... anything that could patch the breach she'd just made, but nothing came to mind. She glanced awkwardly at the other woman briefly, but in the end she simply took the shovel and drove it into the cracks between the stones.

Here, at least, was something she could do. She locked her feet into place and heaved, throwing the full force of her augmentations against the haft of the tool, only to be interrupted by a loud BANG! The anomaly threw herself backward, striking the nearest wall. Her weapon snapped up, rising up to track the source of the sound. And yet..] Wide eyes searched for the threat - any threat - but all she could see were... companions, of a sort. If the confrontation a moment ago had riled her cognitive mind, the unexpected blast roused her nanofield, energy thrumming through her in expectation of combat.

And then her brain caught up and she felt even sillier. He did say it was a shovel-gun, now didn't he?. Taking shallow breaths, she lowered the weapon. "S-sorry, I'm a bit sensitive to sudden noises."

Before she had time to let things get too awkward, however, the fox - who by all appearances hadn't turned a hair (though in truth he'd migrated several feet in the opposite direction with a rather amusing degree of haste) - spoke. "Gentles, hold." His head was tilted at a curious angle, and his nose worked furiously to track the new wave of energy. What's more, he was no longer making any attempt to conceal the otherworldy gleam of his eyes. "The game has altered. With respect, I advise we make a second examination before we alter the structure further."

Weiss flinched at the sound of the shotgun shovel going off. Not, like Iji, because it opened old wounds; no, it was because such a loud noise in an enclosed space.

Rather than an opening into another chamber below them, the gap in the brick opened up into... open air. Not the open air of a cavern or outside; there was a dizzying expanse of space below, tinged purple, with what looked like single-eyed creatures in the shape of letters floating around in long chains off in the distance. It didn't seem as if there was anywhere to land if someone fell through.

Naoto didn't slow her pace as she approached Venom and Cheripha. She spoke up while walking right past them.

"Follow me back. I don't want to explain this twice," she said, frowning slightly.

As she made her way back to the others, she was just in time to see Weiss creep a bit closer to the hole in the floor and peer through with narrowed eyes. The heiress immediately looked back up.

"What the hell is this?!" Weiss's tone was agitated, but a bit hushed. "There's... some sort of gigantic purple void down there!"

"Oh, you found it too. Lovely," Naoto said. "Right, I was coming back to say the door doesn't lead outside anymore, it leads into some sort of altered space with broken-up floating landmasses. But it looks like you beat me to it."

That was... Unexpected...

On the floor below, instead of another chamber, it's a purple void down there; it is unnerving to say the least, like really creeped out by what's down below.

Azure stared down at the void for a while till his ears perked up, hearing Naoto and his two teammates coming in. He heard Weiss yelling at Naoto, just as Azure looked up at the investigator before she responded with what she had found.

Needless to say, Azure isn't amused.

"So in a nutshell, we're in another dimension." The faunus summed up the situation everyone are in right now, while Cheripha look like she was about to panic at the prospect of being at a different dimension; Venom, on the hand, could only sighed in frustration while shaking his head at all this.

"So, this means we're going outside then." Azure then store the Shovel Gun on his back next to Howling Wolf before craning his neck. "Welp, I'll follow anyone who's goes first."

Iji edged forward to peer into the void, while the fox approached more casually from the opposite side.

The anomaly quickly found herself, not queasy - as her nanofield prevented that sort of biological overreaction - but unnerved by the endless abyss below. It wasn't the thought of falling that bothered her, but that there might not be any sort of stop at the end.

The fox simply sniffed at the opening and murmured "Marvelous."

The others returned, announcing the strange transfer the group had undergone. Iji's first though was "So if we put the rock back, will it take us home again?" Then her eyes went wide as she remembered exactly why she was here.

"Mia..." she breathed. She spun and bolted for the entrance, not bothering to slow for the turn and instead kicking off the wall to change directions. "Mia!" she shouted, stepping into the strange mystery dimension. "MIA!"

Aliasse's curiosity won out over her desire to make sure crazy eldritch abominations didn't pop out of the ground without her popping a cap into them. Aliasse lowered her rifle for the moment, and motioned her team to follow her, making their way over to the door, before finally gazing out herself at the purple void... only to see Iji immediately charge out, calling for the name of the lost family member. Aliasse didn't immediately follow suit, staying at the door for the moment - she wanted to figure it out first. Her vision was caught by the void for a moment, and the strange letters outside, "That's... uh..." she shook her head.

Aliasse pointed at Iji, and sighed, "Natalie, follow her and keep her from getting hurt." The Shinx nodded, and chased after Iji, moving slower, but trying to keep a sustainable pace, so she could eventually catch up with the anomaly.

Despite the fact Iji had run off, the Fox was still there. Aliasse looked at the fox, and asked, "Hey, can you translate? Shaymin is really old, so she might know something."

Shaymin chirped to the Fox, "Hey, uh. I don't know everything. Or where we are. I know those Pokemon are Unown, and that they're really powerful in big groups, even if they're really weak individually, and, uh... that's all I know! Sorry!"
