"This is a waste of time. Competent officers should be enough to keep people out of a dangerous area," Weiss said, frowning.

"I don't usually agree with you, Schnee, but honestly? You're right. We could have already been investigating if we weren't waiting on the tape," Naoto said, glancing at the white-haired young woman standing beside her.

The Sevii Islands were not the most populated area of the Pokemon World, nor were they the most popular with outsiders. But today, several boats surrounded the cluster of small rocks that held the Tanoby Ruins, in the waters just south of Seven Island, and a handful of law enforcement officers were in the process of putting police tape around the individual ruin chambers.

The ruin chambers weren't exactly known for being very large. In fact, they were supposedly very small inside. But recently, everyone visiting the Tanoby Ruins had failed to return once they'd entered the structures. Naoto had somewhat reluctantly agreed to investigate, if only because Weiss's... friend? Underling? ...Surrogate brother? Whatever Mithos was to the New Valorian girl, he had gone with a tour group, and was one of the missing victims. She didn't really blame Weiss for wanting to figure out what was going on and get him back. The officers had agreed, after several minutes of arguing, to let the two investigate once they had the yellow police tape in place.

"Well, at least someone here sees some sense. Even if it's the coward," Weiss grumbled, looking only marginally pacified.

"Hey!"

"At least if anyone else happens to be attentive and competent and realize this is important, we might actually still be waiting here by the time they show up..."

Superman and Goku had been killed, at the cost of those she was closest to. Saber, Axel, and Wendy, all people who Aliasse had considered family, had died in what felt like a single fell swoop. At first, it was unbearable. Aliasse didn't know if she wanted to mope around her house for the next couple of weeks, only fulfilling her basic obligations to her classes and needs, or taking her anger out on New Valorian troops, blood for blood. She settled more on the earlier. She'd had time. She wasn't over it, but she was functional enough. She needed rest though. While no longer incapacitated by her own grief, she was still in recovery. She needed time to get away and relax.

"Tanoby Ruins." Aliasse muttered, as she gazed at the archipelego within an archipelego from her boat, scratching Esther behind the ears, as the boat she was on moved ever closer to the islands. The soldier sighed, as she looked down at the Mincinno in her lap, before looking back at the ruins, "Like we need a working vacation, huh Esther?" Aliasse wasn't a shining beacon of virtue and hope. Even she'd correct you on that one; at the same time, she had no inclination of letting whatever was causing people to flat out disappear to continue, vacation or not.

The girl shuffled through a note she was given to expedite access to the ruins, past whatever police lines the Sevii Island officers had set up.

She better get some reward for this though, seriously.

"So this is Tanoby Ruin." Azure muttered to himself as he stared curiously at the island. "I heard that people mysteriously disappeared whenever they went to that ruins for tourist sight." He spoke to himself, despite the fact that he's not alone.

"Yeah, could there be a ghost?" Azure turned to look at Cheripha, who's leaning by the rails as she stared at the island; Venom, as usual for him, didn't said anything to them while staring at the island, only listening to the two childrens.

"I doubt it, there's something more sinister about the disappearance." He answered to the female assassin just as the ship stopped at the dock. "Welp, let's go and see who's we're supposed to meet for this job." Azure spoke before the three moved out of the ship, with Venom leading them.

"I heard that this world is full of cute creatures, do you think we could meet one Wolfy?" Cheripha asked Azure, who only sighed in response to her questions before shaking his head, causing Cheripha to pouted on the wolf faunus. "You're no fun." She told him.

This is gonna be a long day for the three, that is what Azure is sure about.

For the moment, Iji was at peace. The sun overhead burned brightly in an azure sky, the wooden bench beneath her rocked gently with every passing wave, the smell of salt permeated every touch of breeze. She pulled at the oars, enjoying both the mild exertion and the utter disconnection the motion had from any painful memories. The Fox was behind her, she could sense him there, sitting back on his haunches and peering quietly across the waves. In front of her, little Mia leaned over the back end of the boat, splashing happily at the warm waters. Sure, keeping an eye on her adopted niece tended to be an adventure of an entirely different sort than she was used to, but it was always a pleasant sort of chaos – and at least here she was fully contained both by the boat’s sides and a large stretch of water, and Iji knew exactly where to find her.

At times like these it seemed like all was right with the world, and she wished that it could just stretch on into forever.

That particular whimsy died with a magnificent splash as an over-large reddish fish flopped its way out of the water and slapped down in the bottom of the boat. Mia squealed and pounced on the hapless intruder, but her motion shifted the boat enough that to make her stumble, and the errant piscine flopped blissfully out of the boat.

“Aww,” the little girl pouted, “I wanted to catch it.”

“Aren’t you supposed to fight them first?” Iji asked, glancing at the gold-furred rodent occupying the back bench. It too was oversized, on about the same scale as the fish had been, and the same scale as every other form of wildlife on this ridiculous, adorable planet.

“It’s a magikarp, silly. They’re too stupid to fight proper, so you can just tap ‘em with a pokeball and take ‘em home.”

“If they’re so stupid, why do you even want one?”

“Because,” her earnest blue eyes were wide with excitement, “if you train ‘em up proper they get big and turn into a garry-dose, and you can teach them to surf and ride around on them.”

The anomaly smiled, trying not to shake her head at the image of this plucky little girl riding around on a grouchy blue sea serpent ten times her size. Although it /would/ fit right in with the disposition of her current pet. “Well, we’ll see if we can’t catch the next one, then.”

“Okay.” Mia’s stomach rumbled. “But I’m hungry. Can we have lunch first?”

“Certainly,” Iji said, nudging the cooler with her toe. “Would you like to eat here or…”

“I wanna picnic on the beach!” Mia pointed excitedly over the side at a small, sandy islet

The anomaly frowned at the little island, particularly at the weathered stone building jutting up from the sand. “Um… I guess. But you’ll have to promise me to stay away from the ruins, okay?”

“Okay!” Her niece gazed eagerly at the island as Iji turned the boat toward the shore.

A few minutes later they’d hit the beach; the boat was pulled up past the waterline, towels were laid out, food was distributed, and Mia was chattering happily about all the cool things she could do at school once she had her “garry-dose.” Soon, a well-fed Mia was off splashing in the waves, and Iji leaned back on her towel. The sun was warm, the sand was soft, the waves were calling gently, and everything was just… so…

“Wake, Mistress.” The fox’s voice snapped her out of her doze, and she rolled off her towel, scrambling for her nanogun. Only sand met her fingers, and she realized she’d left her weapon in the boat.

“What…?”

“Others have taken interest in this place.”

Iji looked and, sure enough, a fair number of official-looking individuals were milling around. “Where’s Mia?”

“I believe she and her… rodent… decided to explore this edifice while you slumbered.”

She pushed herself upright. “The ruins? The ruins I told her not to go into?”

“Yes, mistress.”

“The ruins the man at the boat rental specifically warned us against visiting?”

“Indeed.”

“The ruins those police officers are blocking off with ‘CAUTION’ tape?”

The fox merely gazed at her, eyes glimmering.

“Dammit.”

Finally, the perimeter had been secured to the Sevii Island Police Department's satisfaction.

"It's about time," Weiss grumbled quietly as a man in uniform with a Houndoom at his side walked over to the two of them. The others would happen to draw close in time to hear him address the two girls.

"If you're really sure you'd like to assist this investigation--" he started.

"We're sure. Go on," Naoto interrupted before Weiss could say something sarcastic.

"--Right. Well, this really is an odd case. From what we know of these ruins, each island's structure is not particularly large, just a few long hallways with Unown motifs. There's really no way people shouldn't be coming back out, especially with nobody hearing anything out of the ordinary from outside, but we sent a squad into two different structures, neither one came back, and we still can't get ahold of them by radio. If you two, or the other four volunteers we've gotten, don't return by nightfall, we're going to assume that entering the ruins is too dangerous and close off access entirely," the officer said.

"Sensible. Hopefully it doesn't come to that." Naoto glanced around, hoping to spot these other volunteers. "Should probably stay in a group if there are others going in. Were they directed to this particular ruin?"

"They should have been, yes..."

"So this is where the investigation take place?" The person who spoke is Azure, approaching the officer and the two girls with Venom and Cheripha following him from behind. Faunus eyed on Weiss for a moment behind focusing on the officer and gave him the note, tipping the officer that he's - along with the three - the volunteer. "I take it those two girls are going to be my partners?" He asked before the Faunus start introducing himself.

"The name's Azure, Azure Taurus." The Faunus then salute them. "The man behind me is Venom Snake, he's the quiet type of person."

Venom only hummed in acknowledgement.

"And I'm Cheripha!" The assassin chirped as she extend her hand in a handshake gesture.

Not again not again not again not again... the words tumbled relentlessly through her brain, but Iji took the time to make sure that all of the stuff they'd brought was placed in the boat - haphazardly, perhaps, but in the boat nonetheless - and that the boat itself was pulled well above the waterline. With any luck - and when, exactly, was the last time you had any? - the officers would have caught Mia before anything happened to her, and it would be downright embarrassing to have to pay to replace their rental after it got eaten by a jellyfish or something just because she was too absentminded to take care of it.

She made a strange sight when she finally strode up the beach. A Tall woman in a green one-piece was hardly out of place on a beach, though most wouldn't have bothered with the tight black athletic shorts; and from the front the bulky firearm slung over her shoulder could have been any sort of travel- or beach- bag, even if it was odd that she also carried a bag made of pinkish netting in her opposite hand; but the sleek, midnight-furred vulpine stretching smugly across her shoulders was decidedly not a part of any standard form of swimwear.

Iji knew the fox was smug - she could feel the smugness oozing off him as he basked in her anxiety and it gave her a strong urge to smack him for it. But no... he hadn't done anything to cause the situation; he was only doing as he'd said he would when he had offered to bind himself to her.

"Peace, Mistress," The fox's voice sounded quietly in her ear. "I shall do all in my power to aid you in finding her."

She reached up and stroked his head, then approached the nearest officer.

"Excuse me, have any of you seen my niece? A little girl about this high," she held her hand flat just under her hips, "with brown hair, in a pink swimsuit?"

A Valkyria, not a Valkyrie

After the two newcomers made their introductions, the next words that Weiss would hear would be from a voice she would be very familiar with.

"People of Sinnoh, we are the New Valorians and we are here to protect you from the tyrants and terrorists of your multiverse,"

Her own.

As Aliasse and Esther stepped into plain sight from behind a ruin wall, the rest of the year old broadcast dating just after the raid on Floroma and Ali's subsequent for aid blared from the iChomp in Aliasse's shorts, proclaiming the little accepted premise that the New Valorians were there for their safety, and that Aliasse was the real criminal.

Painful memories floated back to the surface as Esther heard the message, and she let out a shrill, pained growl at Weiss. Aliasse glared at the soldier. "Yeeeeeah, I'm not buying it, New Valorian jerk." Aliasse mentioned, making no attempt to conceal her contempt for Weiss, as she released Lowie and Natalie from her Pokeballs, and tightly held her assault rifle.

"There's some mysterious power at play that's causing people to disappear here. Now, considering your army's utter disregard for civilian casualtiiiies... you're obviously full of crap." Aliasse told her, raising her rifle just a little bit high, though not enough to hit any more than Weiss's leg if she shot.

"So here's what I think is happening. Your superiors want whatever is doing it for your own forces, and you call in people to help your little expedition. Any more civilians disappearence averted, or even rescued on our side is, at best, a happy little bonus. Luckily for our Multiverse, I have a better idea." Aliasse told her, raising her rifle a bit more. She still wasn't aiming at anything vital, and she wasn't in a firing position.

"It's called 'I give you a 39mm makeover, and then I lead the decent people here expedition that DOESN'T involve handing over an unknown power to someone who's caused as much destruction than the powers they claim to stop'."

Aliasse didn't open fire just yet, wanting to see who was with and who was against her, other than Weiss, of course.

"Ah, there are the other volunteers! Er, three of them. There's still one on their way." The police officer looked relieved to see Azure and his two companions. "Yes, these two are also volunteering."

Weiss raised an eyebrow slightly, scrutinizing Azure with hesitation after he gae his name. Taurus? That... had to be a coincidence, right? There was no way this... this random do-gooder had any relation to that man. Right. This was fine.

"Naoto Shirogane. Pleasure," Naoto said, giving a nod of greeting.

"And my name is Weiss. Hopefully, our last volunteer shows up soon and we can stop wasting time on distractions." The huntress had finally relaxed, just the tiniest bit.

It wasn't to last, as the first interruption came in the form of Iji questioning a nearby officer.

"Er, no, ma'am. Nobody saw any little girls while we were setting up the perimeter," the officer said. Weiss planted her palm against her forehead for a moment, overhearing the conversation.

When she spoke up a moment later, it was with a frustrated, "Oh come on! If you officers had any information that suggested this place was dangerous, which if you sent a team in, you definitely did, you should have had people stationed here specifically to keep, oh, I don't know, children from wandering in?! Shirogane could have managed this better than whoever's in charge around here!"

"Thanks, Schnee," Naoto said dryly. "You clearly have such confidence in my abilities."

And that was when the second distraction arrived, in the form of a suddenly aggressive Aliasse, flanked by three Pokemon and brandishing a rifle. Weiss blinked a few times, a sudden mix of emotions rising up in her. The police officers, too, looked over, confusion evident as they glanced between Aliasse and Weiss.

But indignant anger was quick to rise to the top, and her shocked expression quickly turned into a sharp glare. "How dare you--"

Naoto did the only thing she could think of to defuse the situation: the Persona-user reached out in a smooth, quick motion, grabbed Weiss's side ponytail, and yanked hard just as Weiss started to take a step forward and reach for Myrtenaster. With a high-pitched yelp, Weiss suddenly found herself on her back on the ground.

While she was still processing just what had happened, Naoto held up both hands in a calm 'surrender' sort of gesture.

"You must be Aliasse. I didn't think I'd ever be meeting you in person. Thank you for doing so much to keep the influence of the New Valorians out of the Pokemon World. I really appreciate it," the investigator said, maintaining a calm tone. "Don't worry, they don't have anything to do with this. If Schnee was still in contact with them, I wouldn't be cooperating with her."

"Shirogane what the hell do you think you're--" Weiss started, starting to push herself up from the ground. Naoto aimed a kick at the heiress's leg, not hard enough to actually worsen the injuries she knew Weiss was still recovering from, but enough that Weiss stopped short with a gasp, all but paralyzed for a moment.

"She's stranded in this Multiverse," Naoto went on, as if nothing had happened. "And... She's not that bad. When she found out I'd put a bullet through my own head if the New Valorians brought me back, she let me get away because she knew it was the right thing to do. So I'd appreciate it if you'd put the gun down, please. She's just here to find her... friend. She has those, apparently."

"Go jump off a pier, Shirogane."

"Well met Naoto." Azure responded to Naoto's greeting with his own, before raising his eyebrows in interest when Weiss introduced herself to the wolf faunus. When had he heard of that name before? It's must've been from somewhere he had been... But wher--

His thought are interrupted by a woman asking a question to the officer, causing his wolf ears twitching in curiosity as Weiss spoke up in a frustrating tone. He - more or less - agreed to most of what the girl spoke, except for the last part as he doesn't know Naoto.

And then Naoto call her Shnee.

"Oh right, now I remember." Azure snap his finger in recognition. "Weiss Shnee from Beacon, the heiress of the Shnee Dust Company right?; should've remember tha--"

Then he's interrupted by two things: Weiss voice coming from a blue hair girl being accompanied by a cute furry little fella, then she make no attempt at hiding her contempt for the Shnee heiress while brandishing her rifle. Sensing a possible hostile, Azure rest his hand at the hilt of his upgraded Howling Wolf while Venom hold his weapon for when a fight happened.

And then, just as Weiss is reaching for her weapon, Naoto defuse the situation by... Pulling the Shnee's hair and send her onto the ground?

Okay, that's just weird.

"Oh by Odin's beard!" Cheripha suddenly exclaimed as she rushed to Aliasse's Esther, staring at the Pokemon in awe. "It's look so cute! Is it a boy? A girl? Can I pet the it? Can I? Can I!?"

Venom sighed as he shake his head while Azure just hold Cheripha by the shoulder.

"Cheripha, don't. You're gonna frighten the fellow... Err... Squirrel? I'm sorry, this is the first time I see this fellow and my first time in this world." Azure scratched the back of his head. "Originally went here for a little bit of adventuring, I got myself involve to see if I can help." Sheepishly spoke the Faunus as he stared at the girl.

"But seriously, what did she do to make you this mad?"

"Could you, I dunno, radio the other officers and ask if they've seen her?" Iji's tone was polite, but there was a hint of pleading in her words. "If - if she's in there I'm going to have to go in after her, but it wouldn't be very helpful to do that if she's out here, right?"

The anomaly paid little attention to the spat brewing off to the side, but the fox turned its head to look at them. Its eyes glimmered redly with the depthless coruscations of a living ember, and then it stretched and poured itself lithely from its human perch. Humans were such fun, it mused, padding toward the standoff - it hadn't even thought about instigating, well, anything, and here they were already emanating such a delightful array of emotion: Hatred; confusion; wounded pride; fear, poorly masked by anger. Simply delightful.

As it drew near, its eyes flickered and its image shimmered and gradually began to separate from the fox itself until it padded about a foot away. The fox paused invisibly a few feet away from the group, one paw raised, nose twitching curiously, while its image dutifully mimicked its posture off to the side.

A Valkyria, not a Valkyrie

As Aliasse saw Weiss move to assault her, Aliasse began to level her rifle with the former huntress's head, until she saw Naoto begin yank back Weiss. Had she not been so infuriated, she might have let out a giggle at the sight, but thankfully, she wasn't so infuriated to ignore Naoto's explanation of Weiss's situation. The situation momentarily became confusing as Naoto thanked for for keeping New Valorian influence out of the Pokemon World. At the same time, Naoto revealed she was from the New Valorian Multiverse like Weiss was, and from the explanation, the most likely situation was that Naoto had been in the New Valorian forces, but did something that warranted fleeing them. Perhaps fleeing itself was the offense; the New Valorians had done things grievous enough that from Aliasse's point of view, deserting would have been the rational and moral choice.

Aliasse lowered her rifle, and both she and, if you were paying close attention, Esther let out a huff of frustration, before she looked towards Naoto, "Honestly, I know you could be lying to me, but... as far as I can tell, you seem like your being honest."

She crossed her arms, "Alright, I'll work with you. But my trust will have to be earned, okay? Cause I think you can all understand why I'm a bit slow to trust you here." She glared a bit at Weiss when she told her friend, the one that basically just saved her life in her eyes, to jump off a pier.

With the larger crisis being addressed, the Valkyria turned to address Cheripa, cracking a vague smile for a brief moments. If it wasn't for the situation, the soldier would have picked Esther up, and thrust her into Cheripa's arms. She took another deep breath, "No, go ahead, I guess. Esther won't get upset if you're gentle, and, it'd probably help her feel a bit better. She's got even more baggage than me on this whole thing." Aliasse only had her, after all, because she'd adopted her after her prior trainer had been killed during the New Valorian raid, after all.

Looking to Azure, she explained, "To keep things civil," Aliasse explained, the venom in her last word indicating she'd positively love to tell Weiss off, "The New Valorians have caused a lot of grief for my adopted home of Floroma Town in the Sinnoh region. While there's no record of Schnee actually being part of Marley's strike force, she was the one who hijacked a television station and sent a broadcast out after my own rallying broadcast, denouncing me and calling for my capture. That thing you heard when I first showed up? That was an internet video of her whole PSA." Truth be told, that made her accessory to an attack on her adopted home town, and made it uniquely personal.

Her eyes turned towards Weiss, less as a way of scorning her for her actions, more to make sure she wasn't going to charge her again, before saying, "But I guess we better get moving. Miss Shirogane, I'll take orders from you to a limited extent, but I'll be watching."

She paused, before adding in, "No offense." Aliasse didn't completely trust Naoto, after all, but at the same time, she had no scorn for her like she had for Weiss.

"Of course," the officer Iji was talking to said, quickly going for his radio. There was a brief exchange, and after a couple minutes, it seemed Iji's description of Mia had made its rounds. "...It... doesn't seem like anyone's seen her, ma'am."

Her fox went unnoticed amidst the other chaos.

Naoto quietly sighed in relief when Aliasse finally relaxed, evidently accepting her explanation of things. This time, when Weiss pushed herself to her feet slowly and just a bit unsteadily, she didn't interfere.

"There's really no point in arguing with you, especially since Shirogane will probably agree with your misconceptions. Let's just get this over with so that we never have to talk to each other again," Weiss said, making eye contact with Aliasse for a brief moment before turning away. "Every second we waste out here is a second we could be finding the missing people."

However, just a moment later she stiffened up as if electrocuted, shock flickering over her face as she was recognized for the second time, and not by someone who was familiar with the New Valorians. No, it was someone who recognized her from Beacon. That was... That had been so long ago. And it was the young man with the last name Taurus...

Before anyone else could throw out some kind of shocking revelations about somehow knowing her, the heiress turned and walked into the ruins without another word.

"...Well, I appreciate your willingness to give us a chance, Aliasse. I'll certainly do my best to earn your trust," Naoto said, awkwardly scratching the back of her head. "Hey, Schnee, wait a moment! You're the one who asked me to come with you!"

The investigator chuckled apologetically, and waved for everyone to follow before going in after Weiss. There was plenty of time for everyone to catch up, and just inside, the ruins were... rather unremarkable. There was a wall in front of them with ancient carvings of Unown lining the stone, and it looked as if they could go further back into the chamber from either side of the wall. Weiss had already arbitrarily chosen to walk to the left. So far, there was nothing out of place, and there was plenty of time for Iji to catch up and join the investigation.

"Yay!" Cheripha squee as she gently pet the Pokemon, earning a sigh from Venom while Azure listened to Aliasse's story. The wolf faunus scratched the back of his head as he thought about this; it's true that Azure never heard about much about the New Valorian, but the Faunus can tell they're not good if what he had heard isn't any indication.

"Must been that bad; but I can bet that there's something more about this New Valorian than what I know, but I'm not gonna ask more about this." Azure spoke to the girl before noticing Weiss leaving for the ruins, with Naoto following her while waving the rest to follow them.

"Well, guess we should get going then." Azure sighed before he started followed Naoto from behind. "Cheripha, let's go. You can finish playing with that cute little squirrel later." The Faunus told Cheripha, earning a groan from the assassin before she lightly pat the Pokemon and went to the boy.

But not before she looked at Aliasse and say, "Hey, you wanna hang when this is all over?" While Venom follow Azure behind. As they reached the entrance, the Faunus whistle while looking around the ruins with marking on the walls.

"Man, this place sure remind me back in my initiation to Haven Academy. Finding an artifact inside a ruined temple full of Grimms was challenging, till I met someone who would be my teammates." Azure muttered to himself, but just loud enough so the most of them could barely hear him speak. "Still can't believe I kill that Geist Grimm before it even attempted to fuse with something, that look is still worth after losing my left arm again."

Seriously, who would put those trap anyway?

Azure shook his head before focusing on Naoto, "So what do you think happened to the missing persons?"

Iji closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Releasing it slowly, she turned and called her companion back to her. The fox tilted its head, then decided that its presence would add little to the emotional dynamics of this group and padded back to its mistress. As it padded toward her, it let its projection draw closer until it once again overlapped the fox's actual body. Once the two were rejoined, the fox let the image vanish seamlessly into its fur.

Iji knelt and lifted the fox onto her shoulders. "Thank you, officer," she said, forcing her voice into a semblance of confidence. "If you'll excuse me, I need to go look for my niece." Before the officer could do or say anything to stop her, she brushed past, ducked under the caution tape, and strode into the building. The wall brought her up short. She paused, watching the woman in white vanish around the corner to the left.

"Go right," the fox murmured. "The scent you want goes that way."

Aliasse nodded in response to Naoto, before looking towards Weiss.

"That's the first thing you've said I can agree with." Aliasse retorted, at least as far as the bit of never having to talk to her again is concerned. She could understand her haste though. Aliasse had wanted to get back to her vacation before, but now she wanted to finish this so she could ditch Weiss. She let out a sigh of frustration, as she started to move along. She could have gone on vacation in Hoenn, or Alola, or even just book a trip to the Resort Area up in Northern Sinnoh, but she had to pick the one place where there was that weird crisis going on.

She looked towards Azure, "Yeah, probably," she quickly replied, her voice indicating she just wanted to get this over with.

Esther had been compliant, not making any resistance against Cheripha, but Esther had been rather stiff. Usually, Esther would have chirped and chittered from the affection, but she was too stressed from an old wound having been dug up.

She looked towards Azure, "Yeah, maybe. I was on vacation on Four Island."

Despite all her frustration, Aliasse, along with her Pokemon, followed Weiss and the others. She looked at the carvings, musing that they looked like letters to some extent, though she kept her attention on her surroundings and her 'allies'.

As everyone made their way into the ruins, they would be greeted by... absolutely nothing out of order. The hallway they'd entered into was normal. And around the wall, there was another hallway that, too, had nothing of note besides the carvings and the ability to explore a bit further back into the chamber. But walking around, they would quickly find that... though there were a few hallways, it was just as the officer had said. There was absolutely no way anyone could even get lost in such a small place, let alone vanish for hours on end. Even if Iji and the fox went to the right first, the path met back up after a minute.

Weiss, who had gone ahead first, emerged from one of the other hallways as Naoto rounded the corner, a deep frown on her face.

"What is this? There's... How could anyone go missing in here?" Weiss's arms were crossed, and she glanced suspiciously at the walls. "This is the smallest mysterious ruin ever. The floors are solid, I don't see any sorts of traps or switches..."

"That's... really strange, yeah." Naoto stared thoughtfully at one of the wall carvings. Just like everything else, it was inert, lifeless stone.

What was going on here?

The investigator glanced back at Azure and responded, "I don't really have enough information to start coming up with what I think happened. But I do have a sneaking suspicion we'll find out eventually."

And Aliasse was sorely disappointed. She'd gotten in a standoff with a New Valorian, and rather than shooting her, as was the proper state of affairs, she found herself in some unholy alliance with her. So, did she get some big, heroic rescue for her efforts? Nope, she felt like she got yanked around the ruins for nothing. If it wasn't for the fact that there were honest to goodness disappearance reports for this place, Aliasse would have looked for someone to yell at for interrupting her vacation for no reason.

Aliasse huffed in frustration, before sighing, "Maybe we should have tracked down an archeologist or something. There's probably someone out there that could make sense of whatever's on the walls."

Aliasse leaned against the walls as she thought, tapping her foot. Esther joined her after a moment, despite being unable to communicate, wanting to look like she was doing something or another. She looked down at the floor or something, "You know, I betcha there's some magic puzzle or hidden door or something out of a TV show way of getting past here. And we could probably spend all week beating our heads against the wall trying to figure out where it is and what to do."

She smiled, feeling just slightly proud, "But you know as well as I do this is a small island. If this place goes any further, its cause there's some kinda basement. So rather than playing nice, I say we just blast through the floor. The way back up's probably easier to find anyways."

Iji trailed her hand across the markings as she followed the fox into the ruins. She didn't bother to try and read them, or even examine them until her companion suddenly tensed and dropped form her shoulders.

"the scent is... hmm," The silken voice murmured in her ear. "I need to be closer."

She was watching the fox curiously when the others came around the corner from the other direction. Once again she found herself fighting off a surge of anxiety - if they were already here and Mia wasn't with them.... She bit her lip and stared around her at the walls and floor, barely paying attention to the others. 'Barely,' however, was not the same thing as 'not at all,' and the phrase just blast a hole in the floor hit her like a Komato shuttlecraft.

She went rigid, the net back slipping from her fingers. It struck the floor with a sharp clatter and suddenly, as though the sound had flipped some sort of switch, the anomaly pivoted and stormed toward Aliasse.

"Don't. You. DARE," the anomaly snapped, looming over the other woman, her whole six-foot frame quivering with tension, green eyes flashing with the promise of violence. Her fingers twitched and she had to fight back the urge to grab the other woman by the collar and slam her into the wall.

"That is my - my niece you're talking about. She came in here - not five minutes ago - and I am not letting you drop a half-ton of rocks on her head!"

- - -

The fox sniffed at the air, trying to pin down the scent of his mistress's not-sister, but the scent eluded him. It was as if the trail simply vanished, and that was something a mortal should not be able to manage. He stretched out his senses, feeling for minds and emotions - quivering slightly as he touched the delicious, angry knot of resentment between the other members, but he could indulge in that later - in an attempt to discern what had become of the child they sought. He 'listened' intently, waiting for...

RAGE! FURY!

His mistress's emotions blazed, sharp and hot, and he spun toward her, mentally nipping himself for neglecting her being. What could have... ah. There had been a threat to the structure of this building and, by extension, the safety of his mistress's kin. He settled back and watched her begin... negotiating with one of the other females. He took a moment to bask in the outpouring of raw emotion. Experience told him that there was little risk - this was likely to settle before it came to blows.

Or at least so he hoped... this space was too confined for his particular talents to be of much use.

Azure Taurus
Azure Taurus

Azure doesn't looked amused in the slightest as they gone back up, then he placed the hand into his face for a moment before he let go. The Faunus guess that someone or something must have some way to navigate here, and - as Aliasse had said - there's should be some sort of basement out here.

Unless there's a hidden portal that nobody know.

"Well, I guess I can use this." Azure spoke before he clapped his hands before letting go, releasing a burst of blue flame before it's suddenly took a shape of a shovel. When the flame died out, the Faunus is now holding a strange looking shovel. "The Grave Gun, a Shovel that is also a shotgun. With this, I can dig anything ten time faster than normal." He spoke, showing off the shovel he made with his semblance.

"Now then, time to open th--"

He was interrupted by the sound of the sharp clatter; turning toward where the sound came, Azure spotted a woman who loom over Aliasse. He quickly aimed at the woman with the Grave Gun.

"If you try and assault us, let you be know that I have a Shotgun Shovel, and I'm not afraid to use it!" Boasted Azure as both Venom and Cheripha quickly aim their weapons on the woman as well.
