Hi

My friends and I have been searching all morning for a cartoon shown in the 80s in the UK.

All I remember is it almost being a star wars rip off, with a main male character (and possible a small group of other teenagers/children) being based in a spaceship or space station/futuristic building and there was a couple of robots, one of which I thought hovered at head height....I don't think it's battle of the planets...they only seem to have one robot in the episodes I've seen and are always in the spaceships, ie don't know what the living quarters were like..although I could be wrong if someone can prove the other robots existed!

I think the one of the robots was a bit goofy....and one looked like a hoover

and that's all I remember! Please let me know that I'm not imagining it!

Thanks!

Pickle

Was delving into the depths of my mind again last night and I pictured it almost Hanna Barbara style with a robot on wheels (like R2D2 but white and had a flat head not a dome)...ring any more bells?

This animated series of thirteen 20-minute episodes was released in 1977 by Filmation Associates, perhaps better remembered for such classics of animation as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Star Trek - The Animated Series. A short while later it arrived in the UK, only to pale into woeful insignificance alongside the roughly coterminous Battle of the Planets.
The animation is of typical Filmation quality, including their usual extensive re-use of footage. Many shots are limited to a sliding cel layer, flashing lights, or a single voice-synced element. However what animation there is, is adequately executed, and if nothing else the cloud backgrounds are impressive.

Between presumably entertaining scenes of the heroes' everyday lives (which they curiously spend in costume, in their spaceship base), wherein they nurse injured birds, argue over dietary requirements, and that sort of thing, the stories pit the Sentinels against a wide variety of adversaries; intelligent robots gone AWOL, time-travelling ne'er-do-wells, ancient Egyptian deities, super-powered bad guys, wildly-reproducting alien vegetables, etcetera. A few stories explore the Sentinels' origins, such as that of Morpheus, a would-be Sentinel turned megalomaniac.

Nope not that either! My friend and I think that it was on during the summer hols one year, and never got shown again..??

I can vividly remember a group of people....with a guy with blonde hair..walking into a 70 space style (ie like Star Wars..big white panels) building from a green outside world (ie trees and grass) and there were a couple of other characters, and a group of robots, I'm sure one was a ball/disc shape that hovered in the air.......keep them coming!
