I cannot for the life of me think of the characters that sang "meeop meow, meeop meow, la la la la la" (hey, it was catchy!), I think it may not have been a cartoon per se but characters made of clay? Any ideas?

Pretty sure the 80's, could perhaps have been very early 90's.

I believe it to be Mio & Mao.
It was a series of claymation shorts (like Tony Hart's Morph) and it was part of a show called Eureka's Castle.
I do remember it was on Channel 4 on early Sunday mornings.

Thank you! I can't believe they're showing it on Channel 5 now...
