Character of the Month – Shipwreck (G.I. Joe)![]() Watchability ![]() Shipwreck is a character from the G.I. Joe series of toys, cartoons and comics. His real name is Hector X. Delgado and born in California. He is a sailor in the US Navy. He enlisted in the Navy at 16, (lying about his age). He helped with patrolling and engaged in action in the Middle East before joining the G.I. Joe Team Educational He frequently served as the wild man and the comic relief. There were episodes that showed a more serious side to the character. Moral Value
Saving the world G.I. style, I am sure there were some moral values there lol Visual Appeal The animation was clear and crisp. Fond Memories
I am sure all young buys (and girls?) enjoyed this! Bit of Navy saving action! Overall Did you know... Neil Ross, the voice actor who portrayed Shipwreck, made him sound like a cross between Jack Nicholson and Popeye. It worked beautifully and Wally Burr, the voice director loved it. A barely-modified version of Shipwreck's 1994 Navy SEAL figure was used on the Nickelodeon series Action League Now as the character Stinky Diver. In America's Elite, Shipwreck's appearance suffers a major discontinuity: Originally, he has unkempt red-brown hair and a slender build. Some time after issue 12, he appears stockier and with black hair and a neatly trimmed beard. |
