Okay I have a confession to make...I made the hero of the month on May 30th and suddenly realised it isn't here. I don't know if I forgot to post it, put it somewhere strange, it didn't work when I posted it or I dreampt it all! Loz can't see it either so I'll assume it isn't here and make a new one! Sadly the original is 100 miles away though.
Anyway I've changed it and I'm going to be a bit unusual I hope: My hero/villain of the month is Mendoza ![]() Background and history: In the series The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Mendoza was a navigator who had sailed round the world with (and been trained by) Magellan. During that voyage round the world he saved a baby from a sinking wreck. Years later Mendoza meets the child again. That child is Esteban, child of the sun. Mendoza takes Esteban on a ship bound for the New World. The ship becomes wrecked but together they, with Zia and 2 other sailors, manage to survive to the Galapagos islands and then to the mainland where they venture through Inca and Mayan lands and whilst they sometimes part company they find themselves bound to the same path! Ultimately Mendoza learns of, and must keep secret, the one thing Esteban searches for...Esteban's father. What makes him a hero or villain? Mendoza is a brave and very intelligent man who is handy with both sword and words. Esteban's friend Zia is mistrusting of Mendoza whilst Esteban remains trusting in him. Whislt Mendoza's prime motivation appears to be to find Eldorado and the gold of the Incas he also comes through to save the children frequently. What reason is really in his heart we never really know but he is a rather unique and interesting character and whether he is really hero of the month or villain of the month will be down to your own opinions! Personally I believe he is a hero looking for his fortune! As with all MCoG characters he also has a fantastic theme song! |

I'm berry sorry about getting confused on the topic you posted and posting a little too late. I think Mendoza is a hero since he has some good points like being a brave and intelligent man. Also saving the children makes him a good hero. |
