Must have taken up to two weeks overall.
I spent a couple of hours every Saturday getting the parts the right size, and spent most of the carnival week, which I had off work, going to various shops and getting the paintwork sorted.

The armour parts for the Shredder costume were done by a friend of mine and I sorted out the clothing myself.

This is me (as Virgil in Thunderbird 2) and my mate Ali (as Scott in Thunderbird 1) at a convention a couple of years ago. We initially came in wearing the Thunderbirds uniforms, then went out, then came back in again in our "craft". TB1 was made out of a composter and TB2 was a big cardboard sculpture. The bottom was open so I could run around in it :horse:

(for anyone wondering about just how awful I might look when I get my American Maid costume finished, I have lost about 4 stone since this picture was taken - it won't be that bad!!!)

If you've lost all that weight you must be tiny as you are only about 2 inches tall in that photo.

We're Scott and Virgil Tracy, two of the Tracy brothers from the old puppet show Thunderbirds. If you've not seen it, it features the adventures of an organisation called International Rescue and they... well... rescue people in danger all over the world. They all had different ships and things. We just liked the idea of incorporating the ships into the costumes :D

It does pre-date the 80s somewhat, but it was showing all through my childhood so that's when I remember it from!!!

Here's another one of my costumes - admittedly a slightly off-the-wall idea, but it was a friend's 40th birthday party and the theme was childen's telly. It's me as Chloe Ashcroft from Playschool (old pre-school programme that was on when I was a nipper, for those not old enough to remember!)

You wouldn't believe the trouble I had finding a passable doll to use as Jemima! Funnily enough, the one I ended up with came from Next and has a label on her bum with her name on... and it actually is Jemima!

:o They presented Playschool and various other kids shows on the BBC, and Derek Griffiths also played the piccolo for Bod and loaned his voice to an animal programme I think, though I can't remember what.

Late 70's and early 80's kids would've grown up with them. :)
