I'm sure there must be a thread for this but its not coming up on search.

I was just reading about the series on Wiki after spotting that it became a Hanna Barbera show.

Some interesting little facts:

The original opening, and the voice of Kwame, were both by LeVar Burton (Geordi on Star Trek TNG)

Looten Plunder was voiced by Jeff Goldblum (the Jurassic Park blokey)

Dr Blight was sometimes voiced by Meg Ryan

Sly Sludge was sometimes voiced by Martin Sheen (and also by Jim Cummings)

Gaia was originally voiced by Whoopi Goldberg

Zarm was voiced by Sting, David Warner and Malcom McDowell

MAL was partly voiced by Tim Curry

That's just some of them...can't believe how many really well known people were involved! 4 of them have been in ST too.

Thinking about it I'm not that surprised that well known people were featured in this.

My understanding is that it was a pet project of Ted Turner and considering the amount of money he was willing to throw into wrestling he sure had enough to get a good cast for a cartoon he really wanted to do.
