Hey, Does anyone remember a cartoon that had forest animals that lost their home in the forest to development. I rememeber diggers and stuff taking over. Anyways, they move into this room where there's an inflatable forest. Kinda like a bouncy castle but it's a forest. Any ideas? This has bugged me for many years. I would estimate that the cartoon was shown in 1985/86. |

The first two sentences sounded like The Animals of Farthing Wood but they didn't go into a room, they fled to a Park. So I have no idea I'm afraid. |

I remember the Animals of Farthing Wood. This was maybe just a one-off cartoon, maybe it was even a cartoon movie? I distinctly remember the inflatable forest that someone provided for them to live in. I can't remember whether they burst the inflatables with their claws or whether I just thought that might happen. I would really like to find out what it was as it's been bugging me for 20 years!!! |

Does sound like Animals of Farthing Wood but could it have been a film like Fern Gully or something similar?

Nope, it definitely wasn't the Animals of Farthing Wood or Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest. It was before then. The animation was bright and rounded kinda unlike the more lifelike animation in Fartingwood and Fern Gully. It was also made before them in about 1985 or at least that is when I saw it on TV. The room they stayed in after the forest was taken over by humans and development was almost like what you'd see in a local leisure center for little kids. Like a room filled wiht inflatable stuff but in this case it was trees and forest-like stuff. |

Yes there was an inflatible forest in their hotel room. After the animals lost their home the mayor (at least some city offical) offered to give them a new place to stay in the hotel. The mole and friends painted the walls to look like a forest and requested the inflatible trees and maybe some grass-like shag carpeting to make it seem more like home, but they finally realized that the hotel simply wasn't the same as the forest. ---------- |

Well, thanks so much for solving that 20 year dilemma for me. I had seen it when I had to stay at a neighbors houde because my twin sister had to go to hosptial with a broken arm - that is how I know it was 20 years ago as she was 5 and it was shown on TV on July 23rd 1985. Do you know of any places where I could get it on DVD or even VHS? It would have to be NTSC/Region 1 format as I'm living in the U.S. |

I haven't found a US release for The Mole in Town(not yet anyway) I found a few on a Polish site, but I did stumble on this page with several of the shorts online. The longest of the shorts is nearly 30 minutes long. The mole becomes a movie star, but soon he tires of the hectic star lifestyle and he begins to miss his forest friends.
