Can anyone help me to remember a movie from the 70's. It was half cartoon and half 'real'. I have a distant memory of it but I've never known what it was called. It was about a young boy who entered this red and white stripey box from the real world and opened a door to the cartoon world, where he drove around in a little cartoon car. It was definitely American and could have been made in the late 60's, it was also a one off film, that I only ever saw once on british TV, but it stuck with me til now, and I'd love to show my kids it to see what they think. |

Since I was born in the late '70s I wouldn't know what it's called either. |

Late 60s? That's pretty early for a "mixed" film like that - was the boy actually real in his cartoon world, if you see what I mean? I'm thinking of Mary Poppins and that Tom and Jerry film where they mixed live actors... Oh, damn, I'm good. I have no idea why I thought of this, because I only remember reading the book when I was 7, but I think you'll find it was the film of the Phantom Tollbooth judging by the single comment on the IMDB about the kid being human and becoming animated when he goes into the tollbooth: The Phantom Tollbooth Who da man?!
