Okay, I've asked all my friends about this cartoon. All I remember that it was about a man and two children - a boy and girl. They went about in some flying ship. There was also a women who was fully dressed in white. She had some strange power, whenever she placed her right hand on her left shoulder, some light used to come out of her forehead. Please tell me, that this actually existed. Either that or I'm going crazy. |

Sounds a bit anime (Japanese animation) to me - when you say "flying ship" do you mean a sea-going ship that could fly in atmosphere, or a spaceship that looked like a ship? Any idea on the time (year etc) it was on? |

I think it was like a space-ship that could also go in the sea. The year was around '85 - '88. I was either aired on BBC One or on ITV. I think the bad guys were a like pirates, who were after the woman in white. The power I mentioned before, was like several blue rings, that came out of a jewel on her forehead. Also I remember an episode which had an object that reminds me of the gate in Stargate SG1. |

The oe mentioned was Starblazers (Thanks to Excelsior). But a few others were mentioned in the thread too. It actually sounds kinda familiar, but I think I'm thinking of X-men and jean grey, which would be too late to be this.

Admittedly I'm biased, and it doesn't quite fit, but I'm wondering if this might be Star Fleet. Not a cartoon, but the princess Lamia was in white and did later get powers which included firing a beam from a head dress:![]() The series also included a flying galleon, although the enemies weren't particularly piratey. I'm struggling to think of a cartoon series that involved this scenario. The odd live action series that might fit, but... It's the sort of time I would remember that sort of series so I'm a bit mystified, although ITV regions still differed around then I think so maybe that has something to do with it. I'll try and do some sort of net dredge and see what I can come up with... |

It was definately a cartoon. On the woman's head was like a weird white hat, but I don't think you ever saw her hair. When her power worked she would lean back slightly and close her eyes. I think she was supposed to be Indian or something. The kids got kidnapped alot. The more I've been chatting about it, the more I remember. I think the ending theme music was in a different language. |

At least I think it was in a different language. I was only about 6-7 at the time. If I remember right the theme was quite catchy. But then again most of them are. It one of the those things where you'd know if you saw a picture/clip. |

Let's try and eliminate a few. I don't think it was Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, although there was a woman psychic in that. Captain Harlock might have been closer, but the woman was a baddie; does have the flying pirate ship element though: http://www.80scartoons.net/toons/arcadia.html The "third eye" theme is classic anime but I still can't think of one that might have been dubbed and gotten on our screens in the mid eighties. Hrm. Looking back at your first post it could almost be Ulysses 31, Ulysses being the bloke and Telechamus and Yumi being the kids, but it doesn't have this woman you have very clear memories of. I've gone through several sources now and haven't come up with anything else. It's this woman in white that's got me puzzled... |

Wasn't Ulysses, cause I still watch that. I think that one of the baddies was female. I think that the woman in white might have been an alien. Also that funny jewel thing I mentioned was embedded in the white head dress. I just wish that I could remember what her power did. With the two kids the girl had ginger hair wore a blue suit, and was younger than the boy. Can't remember what the boy looked like. |

Ah. I understand from reading some of your other posts now that you're not from the UK - which is probably why myself and Rob were having such a hard time in tracking that one down. I have actually heard of it, vaguely, but although I scanned through all the shows on the site I quoted by name I wouldn't have thought to look at that one in greater detail. I was way off track of course because I was thinking sea/space ship not underground drilling machine, and not underground pirates either of course. Still, glad my link inadvertently allowed you to stumble on the answer! |

I'm actually in the UK. It's just that when this was aired on bbc one (I remember now), I was only 5 years old, which explains why my memory was rather vague. My posting times have been off, cause I suffer from insomnia. |
