80`s Cheesey Horror

i think they were the best horror films made in the 80`s. I remember the first time i saw them, i nearly sh@t my pants. Watching them now though they seem a bit comical.

Friday 13th was good back in the day.

Nightmare on Elm Street movies were good for their time. My fave one was Dream Warriors - the third one. I never saw the last one tho.

I've never seen any of the nightmare or halloween films.

You're right about old films being comical. My local cinema does classic cinema every Wednesday and each month features a different director, actor or type of film. I went along to see Pet Semetary. I've always found it very scary and have only been able to watch it the once, until I saw it again at the cinema. I have to admit there was one particular bit that I wasn't looking forward to but it wasn't half as bad as I remembered.

I love the Nightmare on Elm St series so much I've got the first 3 on DVD. I think after that they lose the plot a bit. I like the original best I think because it was so different (plus the bit where she brings Freddie's hat back from her dream is classic) but Dream Warriors and the sleep disturbance is really tense. The TV room scene is great.

Somehow I managed to see one of the Nightmare films at a pretty young age, and remember being terrified of Freddie, especially the part where he drags someone around the ceiling (not sure which one it was). :o

That was a really scary part of the first Nightmare on Elm St where he drags Nancy's friend around the ceiling and kills her but her boyfriend gets the blame!

Can you remember the rhyme the kids are singing at the start...

One, two, Freddy's coming for you
Three, four, better lock your door
Five, six, grab your crucifix
Seven eight, gonna stay up late
Nine, ten, never sleep again

Spooky!

Nooooooo!! Dont do the rhyme!! That always freaks me out!!

The worst bit in Dream Warriors is when he makes like a puppet out of phillip and you see all his muscles or whatever comin out of his arms and legs. gross!!

Sorry, I think it's that whole minor key nursery rhyme thing that's so disturbing, the tune in Labyrinth was a bit unsettling I thought too.

The puppet bit is pretty gross but it's such a good film and v atmospheric.

I first saw it when i was about 12 and I was too scared to go upstairs to the toilet by myself after the whole bathroom scene in Dream Warrior where Patricia Arquette is dreamin and the taps grip her hands and stuff :laugh1:

Argh. May have to stop thinking about this soon because I'm in the house on my own all night tonight

You were v brave watching it when you were 12, I think I was about 16. As much as I love horror films I have to admit afterwards I check cupboards etc and sometimes have to get my other half to stay outside the bathroom if I need to go in there - just in case something happens! That is, something horrifying!

I was not very brave , I was very stoopid, lol!

I remember babysitting my cousin when I was about 13 or 14 and I put it on - she was only three so I didn't figure she would pay much attention to it. How wrong was I! She had nightmares for weeks and would wake up in the middle of the night crying that "freddie COOKER" (She couldn't say Krueger, bless!) was coming to get her. She was totally traumatised. It was a while before I was allowed to babysite her again . oops!

Just watched 'Freddy vs Jason' on DVD (as in Freddy Krueger + Jason Vorhies from Friday the 13th). I thought it was pretty scary and the ending was good. It was weird how they make you feel sorry for Jason even though he's a psycho by taking you back to the past. Freddy's still repulsive though! I'd recommend it if you're a fan and haven't seen it yet. :o

The Nightmare On Elm Street films are the best hack and slash horror films ever made, they are the only ones that had sequels worth watching if you ask me. Still haven't seen Freddy VS Jason, will have to get it soon, I meant to go and see it in the cinema but never did.

The first three Nightmare flicks I could handle but the next three scared the heck outof me. The movies after that weren't scary at all.
