Amber’s 18th was yesterday, nothing special- she didn’t want big or fancy just those close to her, I’d seen less of her since the double funeral- she’d still occasionally turn up for appointments and even when she showed, there wasn’t much to say- which really didn’t help my research.
I don’t think she could have cared less about my research at this stage though.

She didn’t really care much for self these days- even when I first met her; she took some pride in appearance but now? She just didn’t care what people thought of her- it’s not like she was dressing trashy or anything- she just couldn’t be bothered looking decent so others would think normally of her.
There was something different even in the way she smiled- when she smiled that is, though in the month that had passed there had been glimpses of the Amber I knew so well- though, I’d heard these days that she went less by Amber and more by her nickname “Angel”.

I’d gotten plenty of material for my research- proving that given the chance, juvenile delinquents weren’t as much of a burden on society, that their intelligence and survival instincts far outdid those of us who’d had an easier upbringing.
It seemed selfish the more I thought about it- but maybe, in the end it’d be help for others in her situation.

This Angel was falling further by the day- something had to give.
