Colton Mace sighed. It was a long, drawn out sigh. The sound of a man defeated, exasperated and, most dangerously of all, contemplative. Alongside the sigh, the Squared Circle Superstar stared long and hard at the image of himself reflected from a very shiny CWF Tag Team Title Belt. The expression upon the face of the reflection said it all. He had not signed up for this! He felt as if there was still much more for him to achieve, as if he had not yet reached his full potential. He felt as if there were far greater things that awaited him. Colton Mace: Why the hell am I stuck here shining up the Title belts? I’m a first class athlete, everyone knows that, but week after week Jarvis claims I haven’t earned my place yet and has me perform the most menial tasks. How have I not earned my place? I’m like a modern day Shakespeare, except the females are actually female, and every time I step into the ring I create an undeniable masterpiece! I’ve had enough of this! Colton Mace threw the Title belt down to the floor, even Colton could only stare at himself for so long, and it was that that moment that Jarvis came into the hotel room, standing behind Colton and admired his hard work. Jarvis King: Now remember Colton, I said two coats of polish not just one. Colton Mace: I’m finishing up the second coat now. Jarvis clipped his subordinate behind the ear. Jarvis King: Do you think I’m an idiot? Colton Mace: Alright, Jesus! I’m starting on the second coat. Jarvis King: That’s better. Oh and don’t wait up, I’ll be out doing...World Champion based stuff. And just like that he was gone and left Colton to fume over his predicament. Colton Mace: I’m glad I’m nothing like him! He couldn’t bring himself to pick the Title back up so he retreated from his room to the The Red Lion Hotel's Restaurant on the ground floor and found a place right at the bar, quickly ordering himself a glass of expensive scotch. Jarvis had introduced the particular beverage to the group and Colton grew a liking to the stuff. Life in the Entourage had its perks after all. Colton Mace: Another one please. Unfortunately the drink was not proving strong enough, memories of the other morning were still rife in his mind, and Colton literally threw back glass after glass, much to the astonishment of the bartender. Colton Mace: What? I’m drinking to forget! This was true. Even the most strong of heart would falter if they woke up next to...just thinking about it sent shivers down the Hollywood Hot Shot’s spine and another glass of scotch disappeared down his throat. Bartender: Hey aren’t you? And there it was, the familiar stunned look of recognition that Colton enjoyed seeing every time he mingled with the common people. It helped to brighten his current mood but only slightly. Colton Mace: Yeah, I’m Colton Mace. Bartender: You’re a bit of a big deal. Colton Mace: You would think so, wouldn’t you? And for reasons unbeknownst to Colton he decided to partake in an age old tradition, seeking council from the friendly bar staff. Bartender: What brings you to Boise? Colton Mace: CWF Massacre of course, taking part in an elimination style tournament which will lead into a World Title shot at the next pay-per-view. Bartender: Wow! That sounds good! But doesn't that mean you’d have to face Jarvis? Colton Mace: Well Mark Carlton is also in the tournament and frankly I would not sacrifice a chance to step into the ring with either of my...”Stable Mates”. It would be the best chance I have to show them who the real Top Gun is in this business. Bartender: Who is your opponent for this week? Colton Mace: Um that cowboy...Kelsey Raimi Bartender: Don’t you mean Kemsey Ramsey? Colton Mace: Isn’t that what I said? It would seem some of Mark Carlton had begun to rub off onto Colton, and thankfully there was no one present who could possibly take THAT the wrong way. Colton Mace: Anyway I’m not concerned. He’s managed to achieve only one victory whilst I’m a tag team champion. That doesn’t mean I can’t handle myself in a one-on-one situation though. If you’ve been watching then you’d know just how tough this match stealing son of a gun really is. Bartender: Can’t argue with that, you’ve taken some of the strongest signature moves the CWF has to offer and still managed to fight back. Colton Mace: Exactly! And it’s not like Ramsey can completely wipe out someone’s existence from the space-time continuum with a simple roundhouse kick. Bartender: If you’re so confident why the brooding? Colton Mace: You haven’t lived my lifestyle. You’re too...average to understand. Bartender: Try me! Colton Mace: Alright then, but do try and keep up. Sure I may be one half of the tag team champions, and I’m an active member within the most prominent force of the CWF but despite all my best efforts, despite everything I put into my performances I’m playing second fiddle to an overtly horny and sexually confused Englishman. Instead of being treated as the star I am, Jarvis has me do the silliest tasks week in and out. Bartender: Maybe it’s to build character? Or some special training? You know, like Wax On, Wax Off, sort of thing? Colton Mace: Do you really think I need to “build” character? I have enough character for the entire CWF roster. Some may feel intimidate by that, but I know deep down everyone loves me. They have to! Otherwise everything I do will be worthless. Bartender: Sometimes, no matter how good you perform, the end result will always be a failure. You have to work through the flops before you get the Award Winning feature. Colton Mace: There is some truth in that, and that is where this tournament comes in. It shall be a reboot for Colton Mace, my breakout role and after the dust has settled I will have secured my place at the top of the food chain. I will be King of the World! At first I was insulted to be in a match against the likes of Ramsey, but then I realised that fate has practically given me the victory on a silver platter. Ramsey may be taller and heavier but I possess the versatility needed to beat him. He may have been here longer but I’ve ultimately achieved much more in such a short amount of time. But in the end, the harsh truth is Ramsey is just the beginning, the first step in this grand quadrilogy. Then the world will see the name Colton Mace in a completely different light. They will see a World Champion! And if you’re not down with that, well I got two words for you...Go Home! Bartender: I will definitely be watching, the best of luck to you. With that the bartender took his leave and catered to the needs of other patrons. Colton pried himself away from the bottom of his empty glass and spied a TV in the corner. He recognised the movie instantly, it was one of his earlier ventures and Colton watched a younger version of himself, starry eyed and so full of hopes and dreams. A young man who had a lot going for him. Whatever happened to him? Colton Mace: It is strange to be so universally known, yet feel so lonely sometimes. |
