Alexander Knight
|
Scene One Somewhere, above all the noise and confusion that is Earth, flies an angel. With wings of silver, reflecting the bright glow of the yellow sun. The angel flies free, but below the silver wings and beautiful sky lies a storm. And the storm is building. What started as a picturesque countryside, full of greens and yellows, has rearranged itself into blacks and grays. The opaqueness illuminated every five to ten seconds, only to revert back to its default black. Yet the angel flies free. Above it all. The only way one from below would know of its existence would be if the storm subsided and they were able to see the tail remaining in the sky, serving its function of following the angel, wherever it may go. The millions below have not known of its existence, moving about without a second glance from anyone. But that is all about to change. For the angel is about to land. The journey has been long, but its final destination is close. The snowcaps of the Rocky Mountains are illuminated by the yellow light of the sun above the blackness. A voice breaks through it all, interrupting the pristine serenity. "This is your captain, we'll be landing in Denver in approximately thirty minutes. Expect some turbulence during the descent, and please, when the seatbelt sign lights up, stay in your seat and buckle up." Alexander Knight picks his head off the window. He must have dozed off during the flight. The woman next to him has a smile on her face and he can only imagine she was watching him sleep. He adjusts himself in the seat and fixes the earbuds of his ipod. He pulls his hood back up and over his head, blocking out all but the orange stubble that engulfs his chin, neck and cheeks. He finds the small airline pillow that had fallen into the crevice between seat and window, and relocates it behind his head and neck. He gazes out the window and notices the darkness starting to subside as they continue westward. The mountains are more than just bright spots amongst a sky of utter darkness at this point. Knight imagines what Noah must have been thinking as he drifted in the ark, when the mountains revealed themselves, and he found a place to land. Just as he is getting lost in his thoughts and about to doze back off, the nose of the plane dips and the descent starts. The angel is about to fly through the remains of the storm. The freeness of being above it all is dissipating, and even though the light has broken through the darkness, the angel is heading into a storm like it's never seen before. End Scene ***************** Scene Two "War. Since the dawn of time there has been war on this planet. Most ages of history are defined by the wars that were fought during that age. World peace has never been further from us, and in the midst of this... there is hope. Hope that one day the heavens will open up and the lord and savior of this planet will descend with all the heavenly host, annihilating his enemies and restoring peace to the land. I am not that savior, but I am one of his warriors, I am the Annihilating Angel!" A light is illuminated in the darkness, and then slowly more and more start to illuminate. The first one appears larger than the rest and reveals the orange stubble of a man's face. The other lights are smaller, more distant. The man walks between these lights, growing ever closer to the original light. All that we see of the man is from his chin up to his nose. His eyes are cut off by the lower brim of a black hooded sweatshirt. The same sweatshirt is zipped up, concealing the body of this man. In fact, the only way we know it is a man is by the stubble on his chin and the timbre of his voice. "We are on the brink of a new age. An age where friend will be pitted against friend, enemy against enemy, and strangers fighting to leave their mark. The age of Modern Warfare, and the tournament for the CWF Championship. A tournament that could make a career just as quickly as it breaks someone else's. This is when I have chosen to make my entrance. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. Watching the proceedings of the CWF for the better part of two months, knowing that it was never quite the right time, that I wasn't needed. But that all changed, the tournament was announced and I knew chaos would ensue, and that is why I chose now to enter into the fire, and I am not the only one. Plenty have pledged their allegiances and signed on to participate in this war. Many hope to outlast the rest. Prove to everyone that they are the biggest and best in a business that is bristling with like minded fools, thinking they are somehow different, that something sets them apart. Yet, for every one that you put down two more rise up the next day." It's at this point that some of the lights have risen to the point where they can be distinguished as stars. The one in the center continues to grow, while other stars are flickering. Some disappear as more and more appear. From a distance it would appear to be fireworks. "I'm not like the others who come here blindly declaring their abilities, while smashing down anyone and everyone else. I've been watching the talent in the CWF and frankly there is a reason I chose this place to make my name known. I'm here to guide you and provide a warning, one star shines brighter than the rest. One star will stand the test of time and make it through this war." All the lights go out except the main one that is next to Knight. "For myself the tournament is still a week away. I've been provided with a warm-up match of sorts. In a tournament to crown a true champion I will compete with a former champion in a tag-team contest against the current champion and another debutant. I know little of these men, besides for rank. However, I feel we have the advantage and very little to fear. Jarvis King is a man of talent, that much is definitely true, but what do we know of his partner, Adam Price? Very little besides an unrevealing backstory. Grew up in Boston learning various martial arts, has grown into a striker, more of an MMA type fighter than a wrestler. My mat skills are second to very few in this business and I will use them to make a mockery of Adam Price. But back to King. The man uses a style very similar to my own, choosing to be technically sound in the ring and wear down his opponent. It will be a true test in the squared circle if we are ever to meet one on one, but for this match I have been given a partner. Along with myself, "The Annihilating Angel", a man who lives up to his name in ways you wouldn't possibly believe, we have Cain. A man who has had a part of him taken away, and this is the first step to getting it back. Cain has more to fight for and more fueling him than the other three combatants in this match. He no longer has anything to lose, and that makes him a very dangerous man. Meanwhile, King has everything to lose. Although his belt is not on the line, reputation and momentum are everything as champion, and losing in this match could have dire consequences on his ability to progress through the tournament. I will make my impact this Tuesday night. If CWF wants a war, then by God it is going to get one. And to King and Price, you're in for quite the fight this Tuesday night because the angel has landed, Prepare to be Annihilated!" The only light left starts to glow brighter and brighter until all the darkness is gone, replaced with a blinding white light. End Scene |
