Resident Hell Raiser

20th August 2004 Bastard. I’d always believed some people were never meant to raise children but this only reinforced my theory. In the wake of Amber’s missed appointment I’d gone digging about- my trail eventually leading my to the Ryan residence- I kind of wish I hadn’t now though. Upon reaching the front door- I was met by her father, apparently he’d been out of prison for 4 weeks- a fact Amber had neglected to tell me, and that he had indeed seen Amber in time 4 weeks prior. Apparently she’d come back to the house a few times- picking up belongings and what not, not the first time she’d taken her stuff only to come back a few weeks later... An argument had ensued between father and daughter regarding money- the father had found a small stash of cash in Amber’s room and had demanded an explanation, not satisfied with the explanation he proceeded to harshly berate his daughter and then laid a hand upon his only child. Remorseless bastard. He smiled while he told me that he beat his daughter- using the excuse that he was intoxicated and shouldn’t have done so... He’d beaten her the same week she missed the appointment. I’d checked in with social services- this wasn’t the first time it’d happened- they’d taken her numerous times to foster homes until the parents proved they could take care of a child- and somehow they managed to prove themselves time and time again. It was that or Amber would take off from the foster homes or endanger the foster family and while the parents were proving themselves, Amber would turn up and because of some stupid legal loophole they’d get her back prematurely. Another screw-up for the system. While they’d rake in the dollars- kids would suffer because they couldn’t be bothered keeping a standard. |
