Blake Church: Good evening CWF Universe and welcome to a very special edition of Church vs. State!

Charles State: Paradise is upon us and you do not even have to die to get in!

Blake Church: OK, that was a new low point… Anyways, only mere days until the CWF team will descend upon the unsuspecting city of Atlantic City-

Charles State: I think they might have at least a faint idea that we’re coming, though...

Blake Church: OK, I’ll give you that. Anyways, until we will take over Atlantic City for an event like CWF and potentially the wrestling world has not seen before! And we are here to tell you everything you need to know!

Charles State: This is “Church vs. State”!

Blake Church: Welcome to the lucky thirteenth edition of Church vs. State and what better location to hold it than a city known for its gambling, right?

Charles State: Exactly. Now if you like games and whatnot, go to the CWF website and you can join in the big prediction contest for Paradise, just register or log on and you can put down your predictions for every match and in the end maybe win some cool prizes!

Blake Church: So what makes Paradise so special this month? Well, for one it will be open air, directly off the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and there will be an authentic pirate ship on top of it, so how much more special can it get?

Charles State: Many matches also are not just your ordinary every day stuff, but there are some quite interesting stipulations involved that have all the potential to make this a PPV for the ages! And yes, we have said so before, but how many people are still talking about Confliction and Unhinged, right?

Blake Church: So where do we start?

Charles State: At the beginning?

Blake Church: Excellent choice. And here we have three gentlemen in the ring, and I am using this term loosely, as you will see in a moment, that are in very different stages of their respective careers. Dorian Hawkhurst is back after an injury and is facing our resident bad mood bear, Xander Haze as well as a complete newcomer, the mysterious Revenant that apparently just was raised from a grave, so that’s going to be an interesting one.

Charles State: And why did Blake use the term “ring” losely? Because I don’t think we even have one for this one! No, the whole match is happening in an empty casino here in Atlantic City, so that should make for some unusual moves and situations.

Blake Church: Dorian should have an advantage, since he had already brawled through a bar with Ataxia, so unusual surroundings are not a novelty for him. My money is on Mr.Hawkhurst here.

Charles State: Yes, I’m with you on this one. Also fairly clear to me is the meeting of Crazy Chris and Christian Starr, a leftover grudge from last Evolution, where the former Paramount Champion sent in Payne to fight, and lose, in his stead and the spice in this match comes from a two out of three falls count anywhere match, which given the setting of the ring could result in some interesting scenarios as well.

Blake Church: Yes, there will be plenty of space to spill over to, they could end up virtually anywhere on and around the Boardwalk. And I agree with you, Starr in this one, even though you didn’t really say.

Charles State: Right. Next up we have a meeting that has been in the making for a few weeks now and has two opposites clash, the bubbliness of Mia Rayne and the apathy of Azrael, all neatly packaged up in a Hope on the Rope match.

Blake Church: And what would a Hope on the Rope match be?

Charles State: I have absolutely no idea, the notes I received ended there, so I would assume that there is a rope involved one way or the other… But Azrael has had a few choice words towards Mia and also showed up at one of her matches, just watching, so Mia called him right out at the last show and here we are now.

Blake Church: It is difficult to pick a clear winner here, since Azrael is basically his own worst enemy with his apathetic stance, because he does have both the size and the abilities to be far higher up the card than he actually is, while Mia is still a bit of a wild card, but since she joined The Forsaken, she has shown some remarkable advances in the ring and her liaison with Ataxia probably also has helped her find her spot within CWF.

Charles State: So who do you pick? I’m going to go with Azrael, he has shown plenty of promise and I think that in this environment he will come through.

Blake Church: Mia all the way from me, she has tremendous momentum right now and if she can build on that, Azrael is in some big trouble!

Charles State: Plenty of trouble ahead with the local hero Amber Ryan stepping into the ring with our Canadian aristocrat Silas Artoria. This one actually had caused quite a stir, when Silas picked Amber over MJ at Evolution, but I am not sure, if he really knows exactly how much of a potential problem he put on his plate here, because anybody underestimating Amber will get a rude awakening!

Blake Church: So I guess you pick Amber?

Charles State: All the way! You don’t?

Blake Church: Nope, Silas has a plan and when he has a plan, he has a tendency to see it through, so I have a feeling that the might have something up his sleeve.

Charles State: The next one is a big one, the maybe biggest grudge of CWF right now - Jarvis King against Shane Donovan, who has tenderized the whole King clan for quite a while now. They’ve had several run-ins and Donovan’s crusade against the whole King family has made this one of the most anticipated matches of recent history!

Blake Church: And thanks to his victory against Christian Starr three weeks ago, Mr. King now enters the ring even as Paramount champion, which gives this match even more spice than it already had and it will be one to remember, rarely has a Last Man Standing match felt so legitimate of a stipulation has here. And I’m going with King.

Charles State: That makes us two, my friend.

Blake Church: And while we are at controversial feuds, we even have one within a tag team now since Dean Coulter switched allegiances and has sided with Ouroboros as part of a deal to help his ailing mother with medical help, so while the reason is good, it has left a more than bitter aftertaste in Sam Braxton’s mouth.

Charles State: And combine these frictions with the newly found unified force of their opponents, Duce Jones and Freddie Styles, now known as Smokin' Aces and it could spell disaster for our reigning tag team champions. Jones and Styles seem to be swinging in sync, so I really do not see the Lost Boys being able to overcome their differences, which go far deeper than just regular disagreements, so Jones and Styles it is.

Blake Church: I really like the Lost Boys, but this is a huge bombshell that has dropped on these two, I also just don’t see it.

Charles State: And we continue with our third title match in a row and here our current Impact champion Ataxia has decreed that a simple match just won’t do and he called out Ouroboros prophetess Cassandra, Billy Anderson and Autumn Raven in a highly colourful and random act.

Blake Church: Well, we are used to utter unpredictability of Ataxia, so nothing is really surprising anymore, but while some opponents might seem easier than others, one should never underestimate them and to be frank, Cassandra’s debut against Caledonia last Evo was truly impressive, so our bagged friend might have bitten off more than he can chew under his mask this time around. So based on that, I see Cassandra walk out with the title.

Charles State: Ooh, a bold statement, my faith still lies in Rolash’s Bane.

Blake Church: What did you just call him?

Charles State: Rolash’s Bane, he is our biggest hope to finally get Rolash off that desk!

Blake Church: Gunning for his seat?

Charles State: Not really, I like it here, haha.

Blake Church: Fair enough. So we have two more and the next one sounds as out there as they come, which again is not surprising given who is in it.

Charles State: Two PPVs ago, at Confliction, Elisha and The Shadow have had an almost iconic match called Moon vs. Shadow and people are still talking about it and I am pretty sure that they will talk about this upcoming one just as much, if not more...

Blake Church: Yes, this is one for the history books, 26 men, two flags, one pirate ship.

Charles State: They have cranked things up to 11, with all the Chosen and the Druids officially a part of the match, where the winner will be the one that captures a flag that is on top of the main mast. Sounds easy enough, but knowing the depth of the rivalry between these two factions, especially with The Shadow’s very personal investment.

Blake Church: I can’t help but picture people flying off the ship, falling onto the deck, broken bones, gashing wounds and whatnot…

Charles State: That sounds pretty accurate… So who is your pick? I think that Elisha and his Chosen are ruthless enough not to have any qualms about throwing someone to their death.

Blake Church: I’m siding with The Shadow, the conviction and cohesion of his unit is what will make the difference.

Charles State: And last, but definitely not least, the big one - MJ Flair and Caledonia, two of the strongest women of CWF ever and for the big title!

Blake Church: MJ has been on an incredible tear through the roster, defeating her title as much as she could and having been one of the most dominant champions we have seen in a long time. So much that people have been wondering, if anybody could stop her, especially with Jace Valentine out of commission.

Charles State: But throughout the last few months Caledonia has grown into one of the toughest competitors in CWF and also one of the most successful ones. With everything that she has gone through in the past few weeks with the turmoil around the Academy and her husband disappearing, it seems to have made her absolutely stronger.

Blake Church: Caledonia right now has the drive and the momentum, I think that we will see a new champion!

Charles State: You know what, I do as well, even if it just to bring some new dynamics on the top floor!

Blake Church: So we sent Charles here into the Lionesses’ Den to get some answers, so here we go!

Charles State: So we’ve seen a great many things in CWF, but we’ve never, I don’t think, seen two people fighting for the world title who consider each other actual friends. How do you think that’s going to play into this match?

MJ Flair: We're both uber-competitive athletes, regardless of anything else, and we both want to win. You're gonna see a show out there. The main difference, if I can speak for both of us, is that you're not gonna see either of us pulling out any kinda cheating t'get the win. I respect Caledonia too much for that, and I think she feels the same.

Caledonia: Well, Charles, it plays into the match in the following sense: there’s not going to be any funny business in this fight. Neither of us is going to have a friend interfere, no sneaky chair shots… just a good old-fashioned wrestling match.

Charles State: The one big thing looming over the match is briefcase-shaped and even if you win it does not mean that you will walk out of Atlantic City with the belt over your shoulder (or any other body part for that matter), does this add any kind of level of insecurity to the whole situation?

MJ Flair: Of course it does. I called Amber Ryan the ultimate predator for a reason. Maybe she was offended by my calling her out the other week, but that was for a purpose: I wanted to know where we all stood. She wouldn't give me an answer, which is fine: but it means every move she makes from now until her cash-in is suspect. Honestly, I don't think she cares.

Caledonia: Nah. Amber’s smart and opportunistic, but she’s a friend and she knows how long I’ve wanted this. If I win, she’ll at least let me have my first night as Champion. (laughs) Obviously there’s a little facetiousness there. But I’ve said from the start that if I’m to be World Champion, I want as much legitimacy as possible. That means that if Amber cashes in, she cashes in. If I’m a true champion, I’ll beat her. If not… well, that’s what rematch clauses, are for - right, MJ?

MJ Flair: I didn't think we had rematch clauses here in the CWF. But, that being said, it'll be what it'll be. The only thing I have control over is my own efforts, so everything else will be what it'll be and I'm wasting my time t'stress about 'em.

Charles State: And finally the one story that has been keeping the world and CWF in an almost permanent state of limbo, Ouroboros and their surge to/into power. They have made it a habit of crashing the party and interfering left, right and centre, even though they all are busy with their respective matches against Ataxia/Billy Anderson/Autumn Raven and The Shadow and his Druids respectively. Do you think you will have to keep an eye outside of the ring at all times in case they still decide to show up?

MJ Flair: I have nothing but contempt for the Oreo Bros, and do not fear them in the slightest.

Caledonia: Well, if Elisha and his goons show up, MJ and I will just have to take a break and destroy them together, right?

Blake Church: Interesting answers and they prove that this is not your regular every day champion/contender relationship. But this just stokes the fire for Paradise even more!

Charles State: To stay in the know, tune in tomorrow, available for streaming on all devices with your membership of the CWF Network, subscribe today and get your first month free, including Paradise, this is an offer you can’t really refuse! We hope to see you in Atlantic City and this will be legendary!

Blake Church: We hope to be able to welcome you again next week, I am Blake Church and this was CWF’s Church vs. State. Good evening.
