Scene 1 Pain... So much pain. My head kept drumming with absolute pain. I opened my eyes and my vision is blurry. Where am I? I can smell smoke. I can feel it fill up my lungs and burn inside. I look across and see few more people buckled up in their seats. Most of them burned and covered in blood. I was nauseous with the smell of burning flesh. What is this hell? I look down and see a metal shard penetrating my leg. I slowly grab it and take quick breaths. Okay... Don't worry. Pain is good. Pain is good. Pain is good. AAAAARRRRGHHHHHH! I yanked out the shard and blood starts gushing out of my leg. I look around for something to tie my wound. I looked at the man beside me with a shard pierced through his heart. Unlucky fella. My eyes fell on his shirt. Clearly you won't be needing that. I tear his shirt off and tie up my wound. A shitty bandage but I am no nurse or doctor, this will have to do. I slowly get off my seat and limped across the passageway. I was in an airplane that crashed. I somehow manage to get to the door on the side. I tried pulling it open but it was jammed. My vision is still blurry and my headache was getting worse. I kept slamming against the door but the door won't budge. Am I gonna die? I slowly started to close my eyes as the pain kept increasing all over my body. Help me... Someone please help me... I passed out. Scene 2 Voices could be heard Man- "Are you crazy? Why would you bring a foreigner here?" Woman- "Look at him! He needed help! He could have died if I didn't help him!" Man- "It is none of our concern whether he lives or die. He is an outsider!" Woman- "And he can go back to being an outsider once he is healed." Man- "We were able live peacefully because the outside world doesn't know we exist but now... now you have exposed us to an outsider!" I tried opening my eyes to see the where the voices were coming from. Woman- "He is waking up." My visions still blurry and I felt her soft hands on my forehead. Woman- "He is running a high fever." Man- "Good maybe he might actually die from it. Will solve all of our problems wouldn't it?" Woman- "Hmphf!" I suddenly felt a cold wet towel on my forehead. As the breeze blew in I could feel nature itself breathing life into me... I passed out again. Scene 3 Birds chirping. I woke up with eyes wide open. It's morning. Covered in sweat I quickly checked myself. My leg wound had a well tied bandage. My other wounds looked more or less healed. I looked around and saw the surrounding walls were just tightly woven sticks and straws of hay. I looked down and found myself sitting on a bed of soft leaves. Well, I am alive. Gotta be thankful for that, I guess. But the better question would be... Who am I? Where was I going to in that airplane? A woman suddenly entered the hut. Woman- "So, you are awake." Me- "Thank you for saving my life." I looked at the woman in front of me. She was wearing a short brown khaki pants and a maroon shirt tied in a knot. Her skin tone ws dark brown and her short hair was tied in a ponytail. She looked strong but her face had a gentle expression. She goes over to some barrels and dips in a bowl and fills it up to the brim. Shen then hands me the bowl. I looked at the bowl curiously. It looked like thick milk. But it was too think to be cow's milk. I then looked at her again. Woman- "Well go on then. Drink it up. You need it to get your strength back." I slowly take the bowl from her hand and brought it closer to my mouth. It gave a strong stench. Not entirely sure what I was about to drink, I started to have second thoughts. I looked back at the woman. Woman- "We don't got all day. Drink up." I started to drink it and the strong stench was good indicator of this being horrible. The milk tasted awful and very very strong. The woman starts laughing. Woman- "It takes time to get used to the taste." I tried to smile so that I do not come off as an ass for not liking this awful milk. Woman- "My name is Sarasvati." Sarasvati. An Indian name. What am I doing in India? Me- "I... I am sorry... I can't tell you my name. I don't remember who I am." Sarasvati- "Hmm so you don't remember. Memory loss. Well you should count your blessings. You came out of that plane crash with just a memory loss and small wounds. You are a lucky man." Me- "Yeah. Guess I am lucky. By the way am I in India?" Sarasvati starts laughing. I looked at her confused. Sarasvati- "No, no, silly boy. Just because I am an Indian doesn't mean we are in India. This is Africa. I wish I could be more specific but I have my reasons for not telling you exactly where we are." I did not want to find out her reasons after all I did hear her conversation with that other man while I was half asleep. Me- "Well if you don't tell me it's okay. But I have to leave. I need to find out who I am. There might people who are worried about me." Sarasvati- "There isn't anyone like that out there." The air just stood still as she said that. I looked at her. What did she mean by that? Me- "Do you know me?" Sarasvati- "Yes. The whole world knows you. And the whole world thinks you are dead. I wouldn't be in a hurry to leave this place if I were you. You are not... well... loved out there." Me- "Tell me Sarasvati, who am I?" Sarasvati- "You are Ma..." A man suddenly barges in. Man- "So the sleepy head finally wakes up. How are you feeling now?" The man smiled at me. His smile seemed fake to me. Me- "I am doing better." Man- "That's good to hear. Then I guess you would like to leave as soon as possible. I am sure there are people out there who must worried about you." The man still smiling at me. I guess I have overstayed his hospitality. I must leave. Me- "Thank you Sarasvati and ummm..." I looked at the man. Man- "Call me Jake." Me- "Jake..." My head starts pounding again when I heard his name. I know this name but why I can't seem to remember it! Jake- "Well then I'll book you a bus to the city." Sarasvati- "Wait. He doesn't look so good. He needs to rest up to gain his strength back." Me- "No I am okay." Jake- "Look he says he is okay." Sarasvati ignores Jake's remark and looks at me. Still clutching onto my head in pain. I didn't look convincing to Sarasvati. Jake frowned as he realized Sarasvati is going to get her way. Jake- "Well then rest up." Jake leaves the hut. Sarasvati- "I am sorry about Jake. Jake doesn't like strangers. But still he really seem have it out for you for some reason." Me- "Well I can't blame him. I must not have been a good person to have no one waiting for me and everybody hating me. " Sarasvati looked at me with pity. Sarasvati- "You look worn out. Get some rest." I nod my head and slowly rest my head on the bed of leaves and closed my eyes. So many questions but they can all wait. I need to rest now. I dozed off to sleep. |
