Blake Church: Confliction is upon us and it has all the makings of a potentially legendary event.

Charles State: Thirty wrestlers, eleven matches, four titles, one place to be!

Blake Church: This is “Church vs. State”!

Charles State: I’m Charles State and this is Blake Church, but before we take a look at what our next big pay per view has on offer, we have some breaking news that could have quite the repercussions for the PPV!

Blake Church: The Academy - home of Elijah, Omega, Eris, Caledonia and more - has recently been under siege from the forces of the Spirit Science Research Institute. Not only that, bit the battle expanded to what looks like a civil war within the Institute itself, with forces loyal to Elisha going head to head with those loyal to Ryan...Sunset? Pierre?

Charles State: Footage from England shows that several CWF wrestlers also have been involved in the assault, and defense, with some wide-reaching consequences on several of the matches.

Blake Church: Details are still hazy, but it looks like the Academy was assaulted both from the air and the ground, including an infiltration by none other than our current World Heavyweight champion Jace Valentine!

Charles State: We could not obtain any confirmation yet, since the situation is still unfolding and for obvious reasons the authorities are not very forthcoming when it comes to information, but from what we could gather so far two matches are now in jeopardy, with Amber Ryan just having been dumped at the Academy last week and her condition is unknown and both Caledonia and Eris have been directly involved in the battle scenes.

Blake Church: First rumours are of an arm injury of Caledonia and Eris sustained yet undisclosed injuries from a fall off the Academy’s roof, so this could potentially spell doom for the tag team champions and subsequently their match against the Lost Boys at Confliction.

Charles State: We will try to update as more information becomes available, but now let’s try to focus on why we are here to begin with, an outlook on the big pay per view in Chicago this very weekend!

Blake Church: As Charles had mentioned earlier, eleven matches mean that the card is absolutely stacked and there is a lot happening, so let’s start at the beginning, with a Fatal Fourway match to kick off the proceedings. Now how many federations do you know that a newcomer can celebrate their first match at an actual PPV?!

Charles State: Indeed, and we have one coming all the way from Europe this week, straight out of France, Metrosupp. He is facing Anthony Ortiz, long-term veteran Crazy Chris and one half of the Unstoppable Force Billy Anderson, so we have some new and some old, all we are missing not is something borrowed and something blue...

Blake Church: Haha, thankfully we do not specialize in weddings, but in hard-hitting action and it must be difficult for the veterans to prepare for a match, where they have an unknown factor to contend with. What do we know about our newcomer? As mentioned, Metrosupp is from France and is trying to bring the French Connection to the American Dream, other than that we are not quite sure, but he apparently has several years of experience out on the French circuit.

Charles State: Out of the other three participants, Anthony Ortiz only had his debut last week, he hails from the other end, Oakland, California, and looks like his background has been marked by a rough youth, so the American Dream to him probably looks a little different than for Metrosupp. For their opponents, Billy Anderson’s return to CWF probably has not quite worked out as planned yet, with his only entry into the win column so far being a walkover due to Jedediah Mathis not even showing up last week, while Crazy Chris has been on a real roller coaster, from winning a #1 contender match for the Paramount title to actually winning the belt and then going on a downslide again, so for both this could be a bit of a make or break match, given their recent trajectory.

Blake Church: A match with a lot of unknowns, so I’ll go out on a limb and say that Chris will go for the win and revive his career in CWF.

Charles State: I can see plenty of frustration for both Chris and Anderson, while the newbies don’t really have anything to lose, especially if going against veterans, so I have a feeling that Ortiz is someone to watch for, so my bet is on him.

Blake Church: Next up we have two fairly recent additions to our ranks, with one of the most enigmatic members of our roster right now, Azrael. Nobody really knows much about him, so far he has not had luck on his side either and I can’t shake the feeling that his self confidence might not quite be on the same level as Jace Valentine, which could prove to be a hindrance against his opponent Mia Rayne.

Charles State: Mia or Peyton or whatever name she goes under had seen her debut last week in New Orleans and she has had a pretty good first start in the Fourway between her, Azrael, Chris Starr and Ortiz last week, so this is like the logical continuation of that match, just one on one and given that both characters are not exactly your run-of-the-mill wrestlers, this could get interesting. But...a prediction is almost impossible, I’ll go out on a limb and pick Azrael.

Blake Church: I know it is fairly rare that we agree on things, but I also think that the more experienced wrestler will prevail here. Speaking of experience, we have this “thing” going on in CWF right now, where younger wrestlers are challenging the establishment, trying to bring in a NFO...

Charles State: ...a what?

Blake Church: NFO, New Fed Order...

Charles State: ...oh wow, you dug deep for this one...

Blake Church: I’ll take your Ha and raise you another Ha… Anyways, they call themselves The Coalition and while they’ve been off to some rocky beginnings, they seem to be finding their way now. Silas Artoria and Autumn Raven are facing Stranger Danger at Confliction. Again.

Charles State: Yes, last week’s match up got sabotaged by Sam Braxton, one half of the Lost Boys, who make up the other half of the Coalition, by locking Harvey Danger into a janitorial closet, so here is Take two. As you said, Artoria and Raven have been finding their groove far better of late and the Bloodletter has not broken free yet either, so they are definitely looking at carrying this momentum past Stranger Danger, who still are one of the oddest tag teams CWF has seen so far.

Blake Church: Harvey Danger is probably one of the federation’s most beloved stars, while The Lost Soul, well, many people are not exactly sure what to think of him, he has had his upset victories of late, against both Jace Valentine and Elisha, so his stock definitely has risen and with that also his perception in the public eye. Depending on the Lost Boys coming to interfere again, I would still think that the Coalition will continue its romp and beat Stranger Danger for a second time.

Charles State: While Silas and Autumn have been more in sync than before, Harvey and TLS have been wrestling together for a lot longer, so just like with Azrael I am going with the experience and say that Stranger Danger will come through!

Blake Church: Then we have the first title match of the evening, with Jay “Marksman” Mora seeing to defending his Paramount title for a third time against Californian upstart Christian Starr. Both men have been on a tear of late, with Marksman having made the belt his own since taking it off Crazy Chris, while Starr has left a swath of devastation in the CWF’s roster even without monstrous Payne by his side.

Charles State: Starr definitely will be Mora’s biggest challenge for the belt so far, after having picked himself off the floor just a few months ago he has since reunited with his old manager and it looks like this reconnection really revived his career, so one man’s meteoric rise will continue, while the other will savour the rare taste of defeat. This one is an extremely tight one to pick, let’s go with Mora retaining, even if just by the champion’s advantage.

Blake Church: I agree, either man is capable of winning this match and both have euphoria on their side, but despite his successes in the last few weeks, Starr has a LOT to bring to the table and I think that he will be able to use that momentum and power past Marksman, but I have a feeling that this will not be the last time these two will cross paths, that is for sure.

Charles State: Mystery has been shrouding the next match we have going, with Big Sexay coming out of retirement for one last hoorah against the Accelerator, Harley Hodge.

Blake Church: Hodge has been missing since his last appearance at Modern Warfare, where he had faced off against Ataxia and was carried off by the druids, there have been different reports that were mysterious on their own, but clearly indicating that The Shadow has had his fingers in this, but last week he disappeared and a cryptic Italian message about Nerezza, which is Italian for Blackness. Now there have been rumours about Hodge allegedly trying to commit suicide by throwing himself off a bridge in Chicago, but no body has been found, so it is difficult to confirm anything at this point.

Charles State: Definitely an odd situation, especially since Sexay had specifically requested Hodge as his opponent, leaving several questions open: Where is Hodge? Who or what is Nerezza? Will either of them show up for the match? I guess we will have to see what happens on Sunday, so no guess from me on this one.

Blake Church: No, it is hard enough to pick a potential winner regularly, but if you don’t even know, if half the people will show up or are even alive, there’s no use, so therefore let’s go to the next title match, the Bright Young Things and the Lost Boys meeting for a third time in the ring, but this time it is for the tag team title! Or at least these are the plans so far, but the events in England may have completely thrown these out the window.

Charles State: So far the record is even, with the Lost Boys winning the tag team match, but losing both singles matches against Caledonia and Eris, plus they have had some run-ins outside of the ring as well, so they know each other pretty well by now.

Blake Church: Going with the record, the Lost Boys have been touted as favourites going into this match, but there are several buts that might influence the outcome. Obviously the attacks on the Academy and the apparent injuries to both Bright Young Things could mean that there will not be any match to begin with, but even if the two champions would be deemed able to wrestle, there are several things that could affect the match. For one the Australians’ involvement with Silas Artoria and his Coalition, we have seen interference before, so who is to say how this one goes.

Charles State: Then there also is the team internal turmoil that has swept over the Australian duo recently, with health and personal troubles that could lead to some focus issues, but then on the other side there also is the dramatic war for the Academy that is being wielded between the SSRI and the Academy, which had Caledonia and Eris, among others, fear for their lives and if that does not play in the back of your mind, then I don’t know what would.

Blake Church: Especially since you don’t know, if there might not be one of the other people involved come down to interfere in your match as well… So who would you pick?

Charles State: I would also say the Lost Boys, because what the Bright Young Things are going through right now could shake the fiercest competitors.

Blake Church: Speaking of fierce competition, there are few feuds as intense right now as the one between Dorian Hawkhurst and our Masked Marauder, Ataxia. Ever since the Demon of Sobriety had appeared in CWF, Ataxia seems to have made it his personal mission to wreak as much havoc on the poor man’s health and psyche as he possibly could, starting with his repeated tries to throw him off the wagon with anything from liquor to beer and just his mind games that are second to none.

Charles State: So far Dorian’s willpower has prevailed, but there is only so much Ataxia one can digest before something happens, but this match, which is easy to forget, actually is for the Impact championship belt, so there is an added enticement for the Demon to defend his wagon with tooth and nail, on the other hand if there is anything that embodies unpredictability in CWF, and probably anywhere else in the universe, then Ataxia’s name and picture will come up. Amber Ryan has managed to take down his aura of invincibility, so it is out in the open now that he actually IS beatable, but still, I am convinced that Ataxia’s insanity will take the win

Blake Church: No, Dorian has gone through a lot and has withstood everything Ataxia has thrown at him so far, so that will continue! But you mentioned Amber Ryan, she is also the centre of controversy in the CWF. At first she foolishly accepted Elisha’s challenge to fight him at the House of Will, then being incarcerated there, tortured and whatnot, just to be dumped at the Academy last week and now she has to face another Eternal in the ring this coming Sunday with Ancient Alex Cain stepping in the ring with her.

Charles State: Given her condition we still have not heard anything about if she has received the final clearance by the doctors to actually wrestle, but CEO Sunset had made it pretty clear that Alex Cain is on probation, so to say, so he has everything to prove to the mighty man, which could spell doom for Amber either way. Given the many uncertainties surrounding Amber’s health even more so in conjunction with the events at the Academy, I have to go with Cain on this one, as old and slow as he is, at least he did not have to endure several weeks of Elisha’s special treatment.

Blake Church: As much as I would like to disagree with you, we have no idea how Amber is actually doing, even if she says she is ok, stepping into the ring with Cain is a completely different beast, so Cain it is from me as well. And things do not get any clearer with the next one, Ian King meeting up with Solstice or whoever is actually wearing that mask these days. Neither of them technically are even part of CWF, so this would be an unsanctioned match to begin with.

Charles State: The background story is as simple as, well, murky. Solstice being an unknown assailant on Jarvis King, wearing King’s old mask and only King knowing who is under the mask and now his brother is challenging the “new” Solstice, partially to avenge his brother or something along those lines, so I’d say for this one we sit back and just see how it all unfolds, because there is far too much that we have no idea about.

Blake Church: Agreed. Two matches are left and these are promising to be real scorchers. The first one a lot of people have been waiting for and it has been one of the hottest feuds CWF has seen so far, between the Moonchild Elisha and the ever mysterious Shadow.

Charles State: I don’t think we’ve seen a darker one so far and these men have clashed on multiple levels, down to the Chosen and the druids having been some major factors for weeks now. They had met once before in a tag team match, but the circumstances were vastly different, this one has been smouldering for a long time now, as said, druids facing off against Chosen, taking one of the Chosen hostage, rituals, allegories, psychological warfare, there have been voices that piped up that it is a disappointment that these two men will “only” meet up in a ring.

Blake Church: Haha, yes, you would have thought that there would be some sort of dungeon or castle wall or deep forest match.

Charles State: I heard that Blind Winter Storm matches are all the rage these days...

Blake Church: Hahaha, that would have been something different, but I’m sure that wherever Elisha and The Shadow would meet, it’d be far from your usual encounter, they will be dancing the Apocalypso at Conflicion, but who would emerge victorious?

Charles State: God (or whoever else might be involved) only knows. There are so many things that can play into this, Chosen, Eternals, Forsaken, druids, Sunset himself, maybe even some heavenly or hellish interference, this could go either way, especially with the rift that is becoming ever more apparent within the SSRI between Sunset and Elisha, we really can’t be sure, if that might not also play a role in the outcome of this match.
But we have something special for you, our viewers, we actually went out and got in touch with both competitors to ask them some questions about their upcoming match-up!

Blake Church: The animosities between you and your opponent have been going on for months now, and they are going deep, with you set to meet on Sunday, do you think that this match is enough to settle the score?

Elisha: Wars do not end, only perpetuate themselves through other means or reorient themselves toward new enemies. At Confliction, this chapter of our story shall be brought to a close. There are many pages to go before the epilogue, each of them written in blood.

The Shadow: Elisha is not a weed that you can kill by just one easy cut, his roots go deep and are far spread, so no, this will not be settled, no matter what the outcome is. There is far more to this than anybody could fathom...

Blake Church: What sets this feud apart from the battles that you have had in the past?

Elisha: Shadow is not a self appointed moral crusader like Highlander, nor an idiot bitch with a deathwish like Amber. He is a man with a past, a man born of light who now lives in darkness, a man who consorts with infernal powers in the name of salvation. He intrigues me. To devastate him would almost be a pity. Almost.

The Shadow: Well, I have stepped into the ring with all different kinds of wrestlers and characters, but nothing ever has even come close to the kind of depth that this has grown to. This goes beyond just a rivalry in the ring, far beyond...

Blake Church: You have the Chosen on your side, your opponent the druids, both factions being polar opposites. Where do you see the advantage of your followers over your opponents'?

Elisha: The Druids are bound to Shadow by nothing more than happenstance, a personal loyalty that can be dropped as easily as changing one's shirt. My Chosen are bound to me by the soul.
The Shadow offers his Druids nothing more than the opportunity to serve in his army and occupy a decaying shack in the wilderness. I offer my Chosen strength, power, dominance, freedom from all restraints seen and unseen.
That is the difference. The Shadow offers personal servitude and moral enslavement. Elisha offers freedom.

The Shadow: The Chosen will follow Elisha wherever they are told to follow and do what they are told. The druids will follow me wherever I go and wherever I need them as well, so in theory the two groups seem somewhat similar, but the druids follow me out of conviction and to fight the right fight. They are here, because *they* chose to and are loyal to me, because of things that have happened both in their and in my past not because they have been brainwashed into oblivion and conditioned to mindlessly follow someone into madness. So to me the advantage is that they can adapt to the situation and van deviate from the plan, if the premise has changed, they are still the masters of their own free will, not slaves of the mind.

Blake Church: And then of course we have the big one, what I am sure will go down into the history books as the “Battle of Chicago”, the Fatal Fourway for the CWF World Heavyweight title!

Charles State: It will be Jace Valentine’s first title defense and his opposition as as mighty as the CWF has on offer right now: Duce Jones, MJ Flair and his former ally Freddie Styles will face off in an epic showdown for the gold!

Blake Church: The four of them have slugged it out more than once over the past few weeks and there have been tremendous shifts in the CWF space time continuum since it all began to unfold, basically now ending up three against one, with Jones, Flair and Styles pretty much on the same page now, so the New Era of Arrogance is not going to find any allies among them, quite the contrary.

Charles State: On the other hand it might also bring the three contenders into a conundrum that they will have to come to terms with the fact that only one of them will be able to step out of the ring victorious, if they manage to overcome Jace, so it could be a short-lived alliance that is standing on fragile legs.

Blake Church: Obviously any of the four has the chops to go all the way, but there is one thing none of us should forget - Valentine has the champion’s advantage, in theory he could just pack up and leave and get counted out and still retain his title and let’s be honest, the boss is not going to come down to the ring and send him right back for it.

Charles State: That is very true, even though with what has happened at the Academy we can’t be sure anymore who is on who’s side either, but Sunset might also send the Eternals out, or whatever is left of them, and it also will be interesting to see, who the referee will be! There are a lot of matches at Confliction that have plenty of outside factors to consider, so Blake, who is your pick?

Blake Church: As much as I hate to say it, I think that Jace will retain, if anything because he’ll do anything to keep that belt, beg, steal or borrow.

Charles State: Makes sense, but I think we will see the youngest champion yet, with MJ Flair going all the way to the top!

Blake Church: There is a lot to look forward to for Confliction, taking place this coming Sunday at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. And rarely have we had pretty much every match extremely unpredictable, it all promises to be exciting and you can catch it all on the CWF Network, give us a call right now for your subscription, I heard that it comes with a free Elisha plush for a limited time only!

Charles State: We hope to be able to welcome you again next week, I am Blake Church and this was CWF’s Church vs. State. Good evening.
