Blake Church: Welcome to the week before the first big event of the year in the CWF! Charles State: Only a few days until we roll into Minneapolis for “Modern Warfare” and the big final of the biggest tournament the CWF has to offer and we will have a look at every match and every angle! Blake Church: This is “Church vs. State”! ![]() Charles State: I’m Charles State and this is my colleague Blake Church and we are going to give you the lowdown on the our first PPV of 2018 and what a line up we have! Blake Church: Yes, of course we have the big final for the CWF Championship title between the reigning championDuce Jones and his contender Jace Valentine, but even though it is the culmination of the tournament that gives “Modern Warfare” its name, we have nine more matches on the menu! Charles State: Kicking off is a match that promises to bring some big sparks from the get go, when the Moxley Brothers meet the Knight Riders, both teams that have not really shown the true team spirit of late, let’s have a look at what happened last week at Evolution: Suddenly an enraged Dean comes flying through the ring, completely running over Zara, who hits the turnbuckle and bounces straight back. Dean takes her, slams her to the mat and begins to hit her, banging her head against the mat. The referee immediately begins to count, but Dean doesn't let up with Seth as voice of reason still reeling from the kick into the groin. FOUR! FIVE! Ray Douglas: The Moxley Brothers have been eliminated due to a disqualification! Mike Rolash: Oh no, this is not going to end well! As he hears the bell, Dean lets go of Zara and stares at the referee, who is trying to make him understand that this decision is final, when a fuming Stalker, who had just recovered, comes into the ring, seeing Zara pretty much unconscious on the floor. The ref turns around to stop him, but Stalker just takes him and flings him aside through the ropes and on the ground. The ref immediately signals for the bell to be rung again! Ray Douglas: The Knights have also been eliminated due to a disqualification! Blake Church: One could almost call it a loose cannon match with support, with Dean Moxley clearly having gone off the deep end of late and we will have to see, if he is actually still considering himself to be on the same team with his brother Seth or be pretty much alone in this. Charles State: And with the Knights, Stalker has shown some severe anger issues, if things don’t quite go as he would like them to and his relationship with Zara is, err, a little delicate at times, so this might very well be something of a singles match between Dean and Stalker in the end. Blake Church: So what is your guess for this one? Charles State: This one literally could go either way, with both of them as unpredictable as can be, but I’ll go with Stalker, even if he’d have to take on the Moxleys like a handicap match. Blake Church: Yes, I agree, Dean more likely than not will cost his team the match with his hothead. Charles State: Then we see one of the biggest new developments in the CWF right now, the Paramount title is celebrating a big comeback and we are seeing five men compete for its first re-incarnation. Blake Church: Seeing as it is going to be the “entry level” title, if you want, we have some of the newest faces to set foot in CWF in the ring, but the most prominent contestant is one half of the Danger Boiz, Crazy Chris, looking to not only go for some success overall, but also an opportunity to step out of his brother’s shadow. Charles State: Then there is Jay “Marksman” Mora, who came into the CWF through the Modern Warfare tournament and has everything to prove after falling victim to Mariella Jade Flair in the second round of the tournament and a truly odd matchup with Silas Artoria and Autumn Raven. An additional touch is that Mora eliminated Crazy Chris’ brother Dangerous Dan from the tournament, so that in itself could add some spice to this matchup. Blake Church: And then there are the new faces, led by Dorian Hawkhurst, who actually managed to win his first match ever in the federation against Pandalike last week and he has shown good promise, something that Azrael had not quite managed as well, not having seen much light of day against our flash in the pan Kaden Vossk. Charles State: And then there is a complete newcomer, who will actually celebrate his CWF debut, bearing the promising name of Justice, but given that none of us have seen him wrestle so far, it is difficult to gauge, where and how he will fit in, but given his sheer size I would think that he definitely has the potential to leave quite an impression on this match. Blake Church: I will have to go with Marksman in this one, he showed a lot of focus and in-ring intelligence to be able to keep track of everything that is happening and that will be one of the major factors in this 5-man match. Charles State: While this is true, my pick is Crazy Chris, Sunset specifically gave him this chance and it would be too good of an opportunity to pass up to both avenge his brother and step out of his shadow in one fell swoop, but it will be an interesting matchup for sure. Blake Church: Next up we have the first of two tag team matches and this one is featuring one of the fans’ most beloved, the team of Stranger Danger, Harvey Danger and The Lost Soul and they are taking on the Australian upstarts The Lost Boys! Charles State: This match has some added heat by Harvey finally having figured out that The Lost Boys are the ones behind the attacks, no matter how well everybody was trying to hide the details from him… Blake Church: Oh yes, that was some detective masterpiece, but the big unknown in this match-up I think is The Lost Soul, who has not exactly been the most reliable and efficient in the ring and the Boys are a very well oiled machine. Charles State: Some even see them as future number one contenders to the tag team title, and I must agree, they have been one of the most on-demand people in CWF of late and they should be able to ride on that momentum. Blake Church: I agree, they look like they are really finding their stride right now, Oz for the win! Charles State: Then we have the second title match of the evening, for the Impact title and the differences between the competitors could hardly be any bigger. Blake Church: The Pansexual Playboy meets the Darkness Incarnate, The Shadow. As the latter said, Glam versus Gloom and the shining boy flying high goes head to head with the character stuck in the deepest depths of the nine rings of hell. And our Master of the Dark has been playing mind games with LaRusso for weeks now. Charles State: LaRusso has been on edge for a while and I think that this is going to give The Shadow, well, the edge here and present him with first title since his arrival in CWF, the only question will be, will LaRusso’s soul be on the line as well? Blake Church: No, I think his soul is safe, but I also think that The Shadow is going to take this one as well and it will be the darkest title the CWF has ever seen! Charles State: The next match has a lot of people holding their breath in anticipation, especially since they had a little tete-a-tete at last Evolution, Mariella Jade Flair vs. Freddie Styles. They are the two losers of the Modern Warfare semi finals, but even before that they had their differences, have a look here: Freddie Styles: You see, it's win-win for me. I beat Duce Jones tonight and go on to Modern Warfare... Jace Valentine beats you, I get to beat a CWF legend to retain the gold. You beat Jace Valentine I get to beat the bitch that beat the legend, as well as finally... FINALLY... shut your dumbass mouth. I've been waiting since the first round of this tournament to have the opportunity to personally silence your rambling stream'a bullshit, and it'd be doubly sweet to do so with the whole world watching. He drops the microphone to his side, and MJ raises hers. MJF: That's some big talk, Freddie... but you ain't won nothin' yet. What happens, then, when you don't win tonight? You miss out on your big chance t'make history, and y'look like an ass for guaranteeing victory. I say, why wait? Why cut out the middleman? Get'cher ass down here right now, and we'll settle things... Blake Church: Flair has taken the CWF by storm and has captured quite some hearts in the process… Charles State: Not Jace’s… Blake Church: Haha, no, definitely not Jace, but we’ll get to him a little later on, but yes, Flair definitely is one of the latest breakout sensations, having joined CWF via the Modern Warfare tourney, just like Marksman, just with a lot more success! On the other hand Freddie Styles has had a bit of a rougher time. Charles State: Yes, he has been the last Eternal standing and there has been quite a few unsavoury moments between Sunset and Styles, with him feeling like the odd one out, so this can play out in two ways, either he will prove that he is far more important than what Sunset thinks or he will be not so eternal after all… Blake Church: Despite Styles wanting to prove himself, I think that Flair is tough enough of a cookie to continue her roll and bounce back from her loss, she has this go-get attitude that she will just take the loss, against Jace out of everybody, and use it to fuel her inner fireball and come out victorious. Charles State: You know, this is a good point, but they are both in the same situation here and this match could decide their fate for the nearer future, two losses in a row can definitely wreak some havoc on a wrestler’s mood there, my money is on Styles and hey, you never know, they were both the semi finalists, maybe there could even be a #1 contendership in the line without them knowing! Blake Church: True, like you said, you never know and nothing is every impossible in CWF! Charles State: Speaking of impossible, our Tag Team Title match must have one of the odder setups of recent history, with the Bright Young Things going against the psychopathic menage-a-trois of Silas Artoria and The Bloodletter. Blake Church: Menage-a-... Ooh, I see what you did there! Yes, the Bright Young Things are like a well oiled machine, while Artoria and Autumn seem to have a far more volatile relationship, especially with Artoria’s “passenger” interfering more than once, to they will have to potentially battle each other on top of Eris and Caledonia, if they want a true shot at the titles. Charles State: That being said, though, this volatility you mentioned could also be an advantage, because it could take BYH on the wrong foot as well. Blake Church: Definitely. And that makes this match-up so unpredictable, so would you pick for this one? Charles State: I would say that the Bright Young Things retain, just because I feel that the internal issues of the challengers might just prove too much. Blake Church: For a change I’ll concur and also go with Eridonia, as has been making the rounds of late. Charles State: Hard to believe that we just crossed the halfway point! There are still four more matches and things are just heating up! Blake Church: Oh yes, especially the next one finally seeing Ataxia and freshly dethroned World Heavyweight Champion Harley Hodge facing off in the conclusion of what started as far back as Frozen Over in a lumberjack match, so you better throw on your flannel shirt and work pants, because there will be a lot of work to do! Charles State: As long as they keep the axes at home, we should be good, you never know what our Masked Maniac might come up with, he himself is a loose cannon all on his own, while Hodge is going to have to digest losing his belt after quite a long time now as well to begin with, so it will definitely be an intense match. Blake Church: Especially since nobody has a clue what goes on behind that mask either, so I think Ataxia’s unorthodox approach and mind games are going to pay off this time. Charles State: Nah, Hodge will come out with a vengeance, he will not have taken his loss against Duce Jones lightly and he definitely will want to attack Ataxia, before he could upend him, so Hodge for the win! Blake Church: As if the next match hadn’t already potential grudge classic written all over it, pitting Amber Ryan and Elisha against each other has just been taken to a new level! Charles State: We have seen matches happen in odd locations before, but these two are going to meet in the House of Will, so directly in the Lion’s Den, the living room of Elisha, so to say, which I do not think is a good idea for Amber. Blake Church: No, to face Elisha in your own living room is something not to look forward to, but to almost surrender yourself and be at the mercy of him and whichever minions are bouncing around the place, borders on complete disregard of her own well-being! Charles State: As much as I like the girl and her feistiness and strength, this one has Elisha written all over it. Blake Church: Yes, I concur, I really don’t see any way for her to get out of there, because even if she could somehow beat Elisha, there still is a whole building of those weirdos, so this might be the last time we see Amber Ryan… Charles State: Blake, that was a little morbid there. Blake Church: Admittedly yes, but you have to admit, well, you already have admitted that this one is not looking good for her, no matter which way you look at it. Charles State: Now from one grudge to another one, this next one is a match that has been years in the making. Literally. Alex Cain meeting Jarfish King. Hold on, that doesn’t read right… Blake Church: Jarvis that is. This is our first steel cage match in...ever, and one that is loaded with history, even if half the participants can’t remember anything about it anymore. Ancient Cain against Internet King, this is not even two worlds colliding, but two epochs! Charles State: The most interesting part in this match will be, is Cain going to remember where the cage is and will King be able to continue to fight when he realizes that there is no WiFi reception in the cage? Blake Church: Two good points, therefore I will flip a coin, heads Cain wins, tails King loses. He flips the coin and it falls off the announcer’s table and into a crack in the floor. Charles State: OK, let’s move on… There is one match left and it is the big one, the big kahuna of CWF - the World Heavy Weight Championship match, dubbed by the internet communities as the Ducebag against the Jacehole, the reigning champion Duce Jones vs. Jace Valentine. Blake Church: Is there anything that has not been said about this match yet? Charles State: No. Blake Church: Exactly, which is why we actually went out and contacted both of the competitors for some answers. Charles State: You have came this far in the tournament, gotten through four rounds of the fiercest competition...where do you go from here if you fall short of that one final hurdle? How do you recover if you lose the final? Duce Jones: Hmph, fall short.. Well to be real with ya, I didn't expect to make it this far. Ya know I'm still a rookie in this business. Wrestling a little over five years, but back to your question, I still see a bright future ahead of me. As folks say the sky is the limit. If I lose though, I gotta keep grinding, cause I've had a piece puff that spotlight and I kinda like it. Can't dwell on losses and I won't, I have to put it behind me and go harder so next timber it won't happen. Jace is a great competitor but I don't see myself falling to him. Jace Valentine: Well, I guess it all depends on how it all goes down. If Duce goes out there and fights his ass off and gets one over on me, then so be it. But you, I and everyone else knows that isn't going to happen. The only way I fall short is if Sunset stands in my way and screws me over....so if I fall short that means that my mission is to cut the head off that fucking snake. If I would lose, I dust myself off and keep kicking ass. You can stand here and ask me all day questions about "what if I lose?". What if you wake up tomorrow and pigs are flying? What do you do? What happens next? Whats on the menu -- ribs, bacon or barbequed wings? Does it really fucking matter what happens in the bizarro world where Jace Valentine falls short of his goals? Charles State: Had you not made it to the finals, who from your bracket do you think would have? Do you think they would win? Duce Jones: In my opinion, Harley was the obvious choice, but my pick to make it all the way to the finals and win was Ataxia. Gotta give credit where credit is due. That crazy muthafucka is talented, but the dominoes didn't fall his way. Jace Valentine: Probably one of the opponents I faced on my way through. One of the people that were good, maybe they were great, but they weren't great enough to make their way past the best. I am the glass ceiling, I am the buzz saw. If I weren't involved in this tournament? Anything could have happened. Charles State: In the case of you winning, who do you see as your fiercest rivals in the near future? Duce Jones: You mean when I do win? But there is plenty of competition out there, Harley has a rematch clause. Jace could easily keep his name in the hat. The Forsaken have two great athletes in The Shadow and Ataxia. Cain, King, MJ, Freddie, Cali, Elisha, Amber, where could I really start? CWF host the creme de la creme and I'm just happy to be here. Jace Valentine: Anyone and everyone. People are already lining up for their shot at me. They are already proclaiming rematches and title shots. Hell, Duce wants his rematch and I didn't even officially beat him yet! Its Jace versus All out there, but I am still going to be the one standing victorious in the end. Charles State: So, who do you think is going to go until the end, Church? Blake Church: Valentine all the way, State! Charles State: As much as I hate to agree with you, but Jace really has been on an uncanny roll and even though Duce is still riding on a high of wresting the belt from Harley Hodge, I think that he still has too much to learn! Blake Church: That is it for Church vs. State’s second episode, taking a look at everything “Modern Warfare”, make sure to tune in to the PPV tomorrow, live from the Target Center in Minneapolis! Charles State: And make sure to check back next week when we will take a look back at the big show and everything that happened, I am Charles State and this was CWF’s Church vs. State. Good evening.
