I believe this is a decent first RMT. So hey to everyone. [Team Overview:] [Basis of Team:] The overall premise of the team is rather simple, wage a war of attrition until the majority of the opposing team is weakened, and then, when the time is right, attempt a Tyranitar sweep. --- Gliscor (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Sand Veil EVs: 252 HP/92 Atk/94 Def/72 Spd Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Ice Fang - Roost - Taunt [Role:] This is a great anti-lead. The speed EVs allow it to outrun max speed Jolly Tyranitar and in the process max speed Adamant Breloom. I can then proceed to Taunt. Taunt shuts down common leads such as Breloom, Hippowdon, and Bronzong easily. The Attack EVs guarantee a 2HKO on Max HP / 0 Def Tyranitar. I can still stand up to any Heracross except those with Swords Dance, which can be revenge killed by Salamence. Therefore I have forgone the use of Aerial Ace for superior type coverage and the ability to kill off Garchomp and physical Salamence. [Short Version:] Offers a defensive backbone for the team and creates an opening for one of the other team members to switch in. --- Suicune @ Leftovers Ability: Pressure EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/6 Spd Bold nature (+Def, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Surf - Sleep Talk - Rest [Role:] If the opponents response to Gliscor is Milotic, Vaporeon, or another bulky water, Suicune has the perfect opportunity to switch in and begin statting up. Suicune is one of the two Pokemon (along with Celebi) on the team that takes status. I don't particularly like using Suicune without Calm Mind because it poses no offensive threat whatsoever. For that reason I chose a 3rd gen classic, Crocune. Suicune also gives the team more bulk and fills the role of a bulky water. If the chance presents itself, Suicune has the ability to sweep the opposing team. Suicune can also out-stall other bulky waters that might prove to be troublesome for Tyranitar. [Short Version:] Suicune offers another level of defensive protection while providing an essential resistance to Ice. It also has the ability to sweep if possible. --- Celebi @ Leftovers Ability: Natural Cure EVs: 252 HP/222 Def/36 Spd Bold nature (+Def, -Atk) - Recover - Hidden Power [Fire] - Grass Knot - Leech Seed [Role:] Celebi forms the third ring of the defensive quartet on the team by providing necessary resistances to Water, Ground, Electric, and Fighting. Hidden Power [Fire] comes in especially handy when encountering Steel types and allows it to take down Foretress. With Grass Knot, Celebi becomes a reliable counter to Dragon Dance Gyarados, especially those lacking Ice Fang. Leech Seed provides even more recovery for the team and may negate Tyranitar's Life Orb damage. [Short Version:] Through handy resistances and a large support movepool, Celebi proves to be a huge asset to the team by allowing Tyranitar to more easily set up and by eliminating Foretress. --- Jirachi @ Leftovers Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 240 HP/136 Spd/134 SDef Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Wish - Zen Headbutt - Light Screen - Body Slam [Role:] Support, support, support. The quintessence of support. Wish allows Tyranitar a second attempt at a sweep if the first fails for one reason or another and also provides the team with easy recovery. Zen Headbutt helps against threats such as Lucario and Heracross. Jirachi is special defensively oriented because of the teams overall lack of defense on this end of the spectrum (disregarding CM Suicune), and for that reason to use Light Screen. Body Slam obviously provides paralysis support for Tyranitar and possibly Suicune. Jirachi can usually handle Gengar, even more so if a Light Screen is up. [Short Version:] Jirachi provides more support for the team and helps take down threats such as Gengar and Special Lucario. Body Slam provides paralysis support for the team as well. --- Salamence (M) @ Choice Specs Ability: Intimidate EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Draco Meteor - Dragon Pulse - Fire Blast - Hidden Power [Ground] [Role:] Specsmence helps to weaken Cresselia somewhat and take down any Swampert or Gyarados that might switch in. I have chosen Timid over Modest to outrun max speed Lucario and Porygon-Z as well as neutral base 100s and +speed base 90-95s. Hidden Power [Ground] helps against opposing Empoleon and Heatran. [Short Version:] Salamence merely weakens the opposing team and may be able to sweep on its own. --- Tyranitar (M) @ Life Orb Ability: Sand Stream EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/6 SAtk Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Crunch - Ice Beam - Dragon Dance [Role:] Tyranitar is the finale of the team. With max Speed, Tyranitar easily outspeeds Gliscor and Hippowdon before and kills them off with a quick Ice Beam. After a single Dragon Dance, Tyranitar is faster than Azelf, Raikou, Gengar, and Starmie allowing me to quickly dispose of them with the appropriate move. With Life Orb, I have enough Special Attack to 1HKO 0 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp 100% of the time. Crunch, Earthquake, and offer superior coverage. With all the support the team offers, sweeping is relatively easy. [Short Version:] Sweep. --- Now on to the threat list. [Threat List:] Possible threats will be denoted with *. Tyranitar: Suicune should be able to CB and those with a single Dragon Dance with relative ease. Gliscor also 2HKOs and is able to switch in without even breaking a sweat. Gyarados: Celebi can handle Gyarados well with STAB Grass Knot and can switch in on anything except Ice Fang. Jirachi can take a hit and possibly paralyze with Body Slam. Suicune can take a hit, but can't really retaliate in a feasible manner. Infernape: Suicune can take any version that isn't Nasty Plot with Grass Knot. Salamence can also easily handle any version lacking Stone Edge or Hidden Power [Ice]. Azelf: Tyranitar should be able to 1HKO with STAB Crunch and can switch in on Flamethrower and Psychic with its Sandstream boosted Special Defense. Salamence can handle Azelf somewhat with resistances so Flamethrower and Grass Knot. Azelf is slightly problematic however. *Electivire: Electivire can hit every single member of my team for super-effective damage, howerver Electivire use is on the decline and I should be able to predict around it. I will label it as a possible threat for thoroughness. Heracross: Gliscor can take any version except possibly Swords Dance. If Salamence is still alive it can easily revenge kill with any attack except Hidden Power [Ground]. Salamence: Gliscor can take any physical version. Jirachi can come in on Dragon type attacks (be they special of physical) and can paralyze Salamence or the incomer with Body Slam. My own Salamence may not be able to switch in on Dragon attacks but can find opportunities in Brick Break, Earthquake, Fire Attacks, and Hydro Pump to switch in and hopefully outspeed with Timid. Togekiss: Suicune should be able to tackle any version except Nasty Plot and Jirachi can come on any attack and set up a Light Screen. Gengar: Jirachi can come in on anything after Suicune takes a Hypnosis and 1HKO with Zen Headbutt. Garchomp: Gliscor can switch in and 1HKO with Ice Fang. Garchomp may prove problematic after Gliscor has been KOed. Lucario: Gliscor can take down any physical version with STAB Earthquake and Jirachi is able to handle special versions with Zen Headbutt. Starmie: Starmie can't do much to Jirachi who set up on it or Tyranitar with the Sandstream boost. Celebi is also a decent switch in on those Starmie that lack Ice Beam. *Weavile: Jirachi can switch in on Ice Punch and possibly paralyze it. Suicune can take any attack and set up and then KO Weavile. A Life Orb Weavile can trap and 1HKO Celebi with Pursuit, 1HKO Tyranitar with Brick Break, 1HKO Gliscor with Ice Punch, and 1HKO Salamence with either Ice Punch or Ice Shard, so it is a threat. Dugtrio: Gliscor can easily take it down. Porygon-Z: Jirachi can take practically any attack and then set up a Light Screen to halt a sweep. Salamence is able to revenge kill. Machamp: Celebi and Gliscor are able to beat it handily. Snorlax: Celebi can set up Leech Seed and stall it but needs to be wary of Crunch or Pursuit. Salamence can Intimidate and switch in on Earthquake but does not enjoy Paralysis from Body Slam nor taking CB Returns. Zapdos: Celebi and Jirachi should be able to take down the majority of Zapdos. I do not see it posing much of a problem at all. Suicune: Can be taken down with Celebi. Jirachi can set up Light Screen against those who are trying to CM. If Suicune manages to get 3 or more CMs for some insanely odd reason, it is definitely a threat. Breloom: Gliscor can Taunt any attempts to Spore, Leech Seed, or Sub and can beat it down with Ice Fang. Gliscor doesn't enjoy Seed Bombs though. Salamence can switch in on any attack barring Stone Edge and 1HKO. Celebi is also one of the best counters in the game and can beat it with Hidden Power [Fighting]. Celebi: Salamence can switch in on a Grass attack or Hidden Power [Fighting] and threaten a 1HKO. Tyranitar can scare it off. *Jirachi: I foresee CM Sub Jirachi posing a rather large problem to the team. Ordinary defensive sets can be worn down by Salamence and Suicune. Dragonite: Salamence can outspeed and 1HKO with a Dragon Attack. Gliscor can take on purely physical versions lacking Ice Beam. *Mamoswine: Erm. Erm. Erm. Threat? Threat. Mamoswine hits EVERYTHING on the team for super-effective damage. CB sets can be predicted around but Life Orb is definitely troublesome. Gallade: Celebi can switch in on its main STABs. Suicune doesn't like taking Close Combats but can switch in on about anything else and set up. *Yanmega: Jirachi can switch in on Air Slash and set up Light Screen and the threaten with paralysis. Other than that, I'm not entirely sure. Roserade: Celebi should be able to take anything except Sludge Bomb or Shadow Ball which are attacks usually forgotten for more useful support options. Jirachi can take any attack and is only slightly threatened by Hidden Power [Fire]. It can then kill Roserade with Zen Headbutt. Scizor: Salamence can switch in on Brick Break and X-Scissor and 1HKO with Fire Blast. Gliscor can take any attack and wear it down with STAB Earthquakes. [Possible Threats:] *Weavile *Electivire *Jirachi *Mamoswine *Yanmega Thanks for sifting through this mass of text and hopefully giving me a useful response! |

lol @ Mamoswine. Suicune can switch into it fairly decently. Last time I heard Mamoswine can't learn a physical Electric / Grass move unless for some insane reason someone sticks Natural Gift + Liechi Berry on Mamoswine. |
