Let's face it - CBC is going absolutely nowhere at the moment, and that's probably because Pokemon is being ruined.

Most of the regulars are giving up competitive battling, and CBC is dying because of it.

So, I'm giving you guys a few choices.

1. Keep going with Pokemon, and try to tough it out until Competitor's released, which isn't going to be happening any time soon.

2. Have a balance between Pokemon and Smash Bros, which will require some major renovations of the forum.

3. Completely start over with a new forum dedicated to Smash Bros. That way, we might be able to get a ZetaBoards (or other software) forum, considering we're not being converted any time soon.

Choose.

NOTE: This is a serious topic, and shall be treated as such. No postwhoring/spam, and try to explain your option.

hi sb
not 3

FINE. i will explain since YUOU EDITED It.

3 will still lose us members. some people still like pokemon and want to hold out until competitor is released and smogon will definitely even out tiers. just a smash bros forum isn't going to get us too many new members either, until we all get good and maybe start posting on smashboards. plus, some people aren't that interested in pokemon but still stay to wait until everything evens out anyway, and because of the community. starting again has a likely chance of splitting the forum and fucking screwing everything up.

but whatever you can disregard my opinion if you like, i just think that staying with an emphasis on pokemon is going to do shit all for a while while going all out smash bros will fuck with half the forum anyway.

True. Pokemon's not as big as it used to be. Well, the competitive sid, anyways. Casual (show, fanfiction, comics, ect.) scenes still doing well, though.

If you're going to change the forums around, go for option 2. At least we have two groups, and we have new innovation as well as keeping other things intact.

A more casual CBC could draw in more people. Since our name isn't Smogon, the strict competitive scene isn't probably going to appeal to majority of the mass. Maybe make a section for everyone (fanfiction, and whatever else people like.)

[size=1] Here are my opinions:

1- Having just a pokemon forum gets boring time to time since you are talking about the same thing. It's still ok but as i said it gets boring.

2- To have both a pokemon and super smash bros forum in one sounds weird at first but it can work. People can switch from pokemon to smash bros from time to time which i think is really good. But it will take a while to re-edit the forums and fix it up. So number 2 takes my vote.

3- Just having a smash bros forum is great but it will die quickly once brawl starts to get old. So that is why it's a good idea to have both so we can switch our minds and thoughts from time to time.

So #2 takes my vote. But it is also on what you want john since it's going to be your forum. Also if number 2 wins then the name can still stay cbc since it makes sence even with smash bros mixed in with it.

I vote 2, if 3 we just become outclassed by SmashBoards and I still like Pokemon. In fact I thought we should do 2 about a month ago

CBC will never be anywhere near smogon or sppf status. I never had such high hopes for us anyway. To me CBC is a place where I could joke around with people from all across the globe, who have similar interests as I. If I had to choose one of your 3 options, I'd go with #2. Adding forums dedicated to SSBB will allow us to share even more commonalities and bring a little more life back to the forum. As for banners, it woudn't hurt to change ours every once in a while, a'la Serebii Joe. Any and all of Tochu's banners will kick ass and make the forum look bad ass.

I can splice pretty well if that's any use for banners, but I don't have Photoshop so I'll leave making them to Tochu

1. Keep going with Pokemon, and try to tough it out until Competitor's released, which isn't going to be happening any time soon.

I don't think it's very fair to say that people are "giving up" on Pokemon. Yes, they may say they are, but what are the reasons?
Many people just become bored with it from time to time, due to either more exciting / time consuming events irl, ior even something such as another game being released that diverts people's interest for a few weeks. And then they bounce back.
Pokemon can be an incredibly on-off interest as I'm sure the general majority will agree.
This happens all the time at say, SPPf and Smogon (as the two most obvious examples), but because of the sheer numbers there you won't notice. Due to the fact the average amount of people CBC gets that visit it more than once a week is probably less than 30, we're noticing this with more woe.
For all we know in a couple of weeks / months everyone here will be playing Pokemon again. It has been a systematic collapse: tournaments and analysis, then general, then rmt. While mag has recently been contributing a lot to analysis (which was incredibly needed; thank you) those other sections could still use a bit of a makeover.

tl;dr - people don't like lazy sites. Let's not be one.

2. Have a balance between Pokemon and Smash Bros, which will require some major renovations of the forum.

I myself don't play the game, but personally I see nothing horribly wrong with this. However I don't see why it couldn't even be at most just a sub-forum in one of the games sections on the already existing forum.
Is that what we're going to do everytime one of our interests becomes boring? Refurbish the forum with entirely new sections while in time removing the older ones? It's not consistent, and again everyone who voted yes to the above option could become bored of the game in another year, and then we're back to square one, but with just a few more visitors and a few more members who're going to leave because of the change.

3. Completely start over with a new forum dedicated to Smash Bros. That way, we might be able to get a ZetaBoards (or other software) forum, considering we're not being converted any time soon.

No, out and out I think this is a bloody horrible idea.

I have to agree with miz; I didn't expect this to become anything major. You can't have the world's best competitive site, it's been done, and you can't have the world's best all-round Pokemon site, because it's been done (according to statistics at least). That doesn't mean some people don't want a small forum to be their favourite: diglett's have proven time and time again that the best general analysis of Pokemon aren't always on Smogons Holy Writ - I like the fact this is just a relatively small forum. All the regulars know each other, and the small numbers creates a barrier against idiots (unless they are already regs .__.). Far be it from me to decide the "ultimate fate of CBC LOL" but just a little more effort would return things to their former glory.

i'm either going with one or two.

why?

this forum is built on pokemon. summer 07', which was this forum's prime, was not only a time when we can sit around and chat, but also a time when every single one of us played pokemon near religiously. we all were good battlers, made new innovative sets, and just had fun battling.

now people are losing/did lose interest do to many reasons.

- a wave of new, amazing games are coming in.
- new activities have come up, or new jobs (me being in marching band severely limited my pokemon time)
- certain sites have been killing it (a lot of us feel this way)
- there's only one simulator, and it's subpar at times.

if we stay with pokemon, the list of reasons might grow, and the list of people who like pokemon will shrink, but we can still wait it out for competitor, and maybe people on cbc will start liking to pogermin again.

number two is probably our best idea.

it doesn't force us to wait, like number one, and it doesn't cut the number of users, like number 3. it will increase our numbers, because tons of people like pokemon, and ssbb is one of the most popular games atm

but I pose a new idea.

focus on pokemon and smash, but put an emphasis on nintendo. this is pretty much only making the nintendo subforum prevalent, and merging sony/microsoft discussion into one sub forum.

this adds diehard nintendo fans and smash fans to our growing member count.

just my two cents

Good idea Raito.

I vote Lucario, Pokemon Trainer and (of course) Azelf for mascots.

I reckon that once Competitor comes out we can go back to the main emphasis on Pokemon, but still Smash should be pretty big on the forum as nearly everyone plays it.

Yes, it's that big.

Number Two.

Its Competitive Battling Colosseum, why limit ourselves to either just Pokemon or Smash Bros? I always thought it would end up this way in the end.

Also like Raito's idea because of Mario Cart, but then I'm worried of an NSider scenerio (though they have their own new forum now since it shut down), so my fear should be unfounded.
