Same. I am now a deist, and I agree with what AZ said. Atheists say, oh, the Big Bang created the universe, to which I ask, well then genius, what the fuck caused the Big Bang? Which then begs the question as to what created this greater being. |

I think that's what throws me off, as well. To create a Big Bang, there would have to have been a huge accumulation of energy over a very, very, VERY long period of time. One thing though: nobody knows how the universe even gained the energy needed. Energy can't spawn from nothing, which makes me believe that something must have "sparked" it, in a sense. Also, I have a hard time thinking about a being that has existed since forever. Religion is one of those things that you shouldn't think about too hard, I guess. |

That's what I like about CBC. They may be deists, agnostics, atheists, theists or even communists, but there's no religious conflict. I'm kind of glad Diglett's is dying now that I've remembered what I hate about around a third of the members: hatred towards Christianity. I've forgotten why I posted this now, possibly for the pc++. It's not quite on topic, but it is for the most part. |

well, religion is not meant to be taken seriously. the bible, for example, is not to be taken seriously. it is a series of stories that are based on historical events for people to have a model on how to live a just and moral life. taking it literally is stupid. all religion does is help keep people in line and offer solace to people about to die/the poor. people would go around raping and killing without the threat of hell. and what if religion really is correct? I'm in a Catholic school, and the religion teachers never deny the facts of science or the teachings of other religions. Infact, studying world religions is mandatory, and we have a religion teacher that actually snaps at you for not believing in evolution. |
