Latios![]() Type: Dragon / Psychic Tier: Uber Trait: Levitate: Latios is immune to ground moves. Base Stats: 80 HP / 90 Atk / 80 Def / 110 Spd / 130 SAtk / 110 SDef Weaknesses: Bug, Dark, Dragon, Ice, Ghost Resistances: Electric, Fire, Grass, Psychic, Fighting,Water Immunities: Ground Movesets Special Sweeper Latios @ Soul Dew Trait: Levitate EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) / Timid Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Draco Meteor - Grass Knot - Hidden Power [Fire / Ground] - Recover / Dragon Pulse The one reason you'd want to use Latios is it's decent movepool and of course Soul Dew, the item that boosts its Special Attack and Special Defense one stage without limiting it to one move. This hit and run style set should be played to just hit whatever you can as hard as you can. Draco Meteor coming off 594 Special Attack (Modest) is extremely dangerous to everything not called Blissey or Steel Arceus. Grass Knot makes short work of the heavier Ubers like Kyogre and Groudon who also happen to be weak to the move. Hidden Power [Fire] beats Forretress but presents an open opportunity for Heatran to swap in on you, whilst Hidden Power [Ground] deals with Heatran, Metagross and other steel types, and is probably the better choice. Recover will give you some lasting power so you can continue to attack throughout the match, while Dragon Pulse can be used for when you're not in the mood for halving your Special Attack with a STAB move. Calm Mind Latios @ Soul Dew Trait: Levitate EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) / Timid Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Ice Beam / Dragon Pulse - Recover - Thunderbolt / Thunder / Grass Knot Yeah. Modest Latios after a Calm Mind has just under 900 Special Attack. Scary stuff. Ice Beam with Thunder[bolt] and Dragon Pulse and Grass Knot are the pairs of moves that go together on this set for different reasons. Boltbeam hits everything except Lanturn, Shedinja and Magnezone, and so allows you to do damage to everything other than those three Pokemon. Thunder if you suspect Kyogre is about (which it often is). Dragon Pulse and Grass Knot, however, has a STAB move in the mix, and whilst sacrificing coverage in terms of "hitting all pokemon", hits a lot of the Ubers for super-effective damage due to their types. The choice is up to you really. Recover to heal yourself and make sure those Calm Minds weren't in vain. Dragon Dance Latios @ Life Orb / Soul Dew Trait: Levitate EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Dragon Claw - Dragon Dance - Earthquake - Recover / Shadow Claw An inferior Rayquaza who's only advantages are a better recovery move, Soul Dew (which is meaningless to the set other than stopping Ice Beams) and surprising Blissey. Night Slash hits Lugia a bit harder than the other moves while Earthquake deals with Metagross and Steel Arseus. Life Orb gets a mention to boost your base 90 Atk. Even with Life Orb, it only gets about 600 Attack with a Dragon Dance, whereas Rayquaza has just under that BEFORE a Dragon Dance. Other Options Latios has Refresh, Light Screen, Reflect, Heal Block and Safeguard to support the team, but Latias almost always does that better. Pretty much every worthwhile move has been mentioned. Latios' movepool is big, but a lot of it isn't worth using. EVs All these sets are 4 HP / max offense / max Speed, but you can make Latios a bit more bulky to survive resisted attacks. You can drop the offense down to 216 with a beneficial offense nature and if you go for +Speed nature you can drop the speed down to beat certain things. Opinion Soul Dew Draco Meteor is reason enough to use this thing. It has an amazing typing with a lot of resistances, however, although they are lessened by Soul Dew, its weakness to Dark, Ghost and fellow Dragon types make it risky for it to switch in sometimes. And sadly, Palkia boasts much more Special Attack, benefits from the rain much more, and does all that for just a bit less speed. Counters CM / Psych Up Blissey cannot highly damage Calm Mind Latios barring a Critical Hit, but it will force you to switch or be outstalled. Toxic and Thunder Wave Blissey will annoy any sweeper Latios, which most are. Metagross resist Ice Beam, Dragon Pulse and Grass Knot and will target your 80 Def with Meteor Mashes and Pursuits on the switch. Steel Arseus can be a great switch into Draco Meteors, and physical Arseus can take on Calm Mind Latios sometimes, providing they aren't weak to any of its moves. Lugia can wall the Dragon Dance set well providing it can Whirlwind you, and if it has Refelect it's not dying anytime soon. Forretress can use the Dragon Dance set to get spikes up, but not much else. |

Another good analysis but I have some comments and a question: Up to what I know, Soul Dew boosts 1.25 or 1.2 Latio's special stats. I had never read it boost 1.5, where did you read that? I think an all-out-attacker set, similar to a CHoice Specs should have been mentioned. I propose this: Latios@Soul Dew Modest with HP, 252 atk, 252 speed Draco Meteor Dragon Pulse Grass Knot Hidden Power Ground/Hidden Power Fire It serves the purpose of those hit-and-run tactics with the ability to hit a lot of pokemon hard. Hidden Power Ground is for things like Metagross, Steel Arceus and Tyranitar. I like Hidden Power fire for things like Bug Arceus who can counter some of the sets as well. |

On Netbattle, it says 1.5x boost, and I'm certain it does on smogon d/p items analysis too. Adding sets when I get home from school. |

Yes, ubers is everything goes. Ok, I'll take your word for it, now I'll have to consider Latios for a team is that is so. |

c+p'ed from smogon item analysis in the Analysis forum there; [NAME] Soul Dew [SHORT DESC] Boosts the Special Attack and Special Defense of both Latias and Latios by 50%. [LONG DESC] Boosts the Special Attack and Special Defense of both Latias and Latios by 50%. |

@Soul Dew -Solar Beam -Thunder -Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse -Sub/Recover Is a fun set to try, sub is probably best, but with soul dew and the right evs you can take a scarf-ogres spout, thunder it, and recover it off. |

Solarbeam is inferior to Grass Knot itt, as most Ubers take 120 from it anyway and can be used straight off |
