Hello fellow Manorites!

I'm Sabra and I'm a To The Manor Born-aholic. I've written several fanfictions for the show and have several more in the works. And I plan on branching out into Executive Stress one of these days (The Penelope Keith/Peter Bowles version of course.

While I hope to one day be a published author, fanfiction will always be a huge part of my writing life. To me, it's like an artist's sketchbook. A way to hone skills while still, hopefully, providing free entertainment to people.

And this forum is free. Absolutely no profit is made off of these beloved characters owned by the BBC, Peter Spence, Christopher Bonds, ITV and George Layton. This site is for pure entertainment purposes only. So sit back and enjoy.

Now that you know a little bit about me, why not post a little bit about yourself.

Enjoy the site!

I’ve been a fan of TTMB since I was in high school in the late ‘90s. No one I met had ever heard of the show, much less been a fan, but I was instantly addicted—I’m a sucker for any couple who start off as adversaries, especially flirty, bantery adversaries. I’ve made a few of my friends watch it over the years and everyone gets absolutely hooked. It was years and years, though, before I found any sort of online fandom for TTMB.

And now there’s this board!

I teach composition at a local university but I don’t get time to do a lot of writing of my own. When I do write for fun, it’s mostly fanfic of the fantasy and sci-fi sort for fandoms like Doctor Who and Carnivale. I haven’t written anything for TTMB yet, but I’ve certainly thought about it. Hopefully, I’ll get bitten by a plot bunny while I’m here.

Hia,

Ummm well I'm 18 and from Wales.
I first started watching TTMB when I was about 12 and I saw some repeats on Sky and was instantly hooked.

I'm a sucker for a good romance and I'm really into old 70's and 80's comedy, like the 'Good Life'

None of my friends are into these types of shows so I'm sooooo excited to find somewhere I can talk about them lol.

I love reading fanfiction but am not confident enough to post one yet, though I do have quite a few ideas whirling around my head. Though I don't have much time at the moment with uni applications and exams and stuff.

My laptops going in for repair so I won't be on for a while after tomorrow but I can't wait to get to know everyone!

xxxxxxx :D :D

My name is Margaret but my friends call me Marge, among other things. I don't remember exactly when I first saw TTMB. It was whenever Georgia Public Television first aired it, sometime in the early 80s. I was in college around that time. That makes Penelope Keith about 20 years older than I am but to me she is timeless.

I think the first British Comedy I ever saw was Butterflies, with Wendy Craig. After that I was hooked. Then came Good Neighbors. All of the cast was exceptional but there was something special about Penelope Keith, thank you very much.

Then I saw TTMB and the chemistry between Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles drew me in even further. I watched anything I could find with either of them. I was happy when the public television station started airing Executive Stress. Since it aired here after it aired in England, I was able to see the episodes in a shorter period of time than the original broadcasts. I was shocked and thrilled when Peter Bowles was suddenly portraying Donald with no warning here.

The finale of TTMB left me wanting more and I thought that Executive Stress was as close as I was going to get until I my brother told me that he had checked out one of Peter Spence's TTMB books from a library in another town using his computer. I didn't know the books existed. I have them both now. They weren't enough though. After that I began searching for more about TTMB on the Internet and discovered the wonderful fanfiction of PEAhopeless just a few months before the special aired. The YouTube videos by MissDeVere and LadyDeVere are incredible, especially the ones based on PEAhopeless's stories.

The Christmas special was a great present. I watched it as soon as I could over the Internet and bought the DVD as soon as it was available in the United States. Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles still have whatever it is that made their performances so magical. Seeing them portray Audrey and Richard again was just like going home. I agree with the people who posted that they would watch them sit on a stage and read a phone book. They are both amazing but together I don't think there is a word good enough to express what they are.

I am enjoying reading Sabra's fanfiction. We humans never get tired of reading about love and that is what TTMB is all about even though that wasn't what Peter Spence intended.

Thanks, Sabra, for giving us all a place to express what this show and these people mean to us.

Margaret

My name is Savino, but everyone calls me Sam. I enjoyed TTMB when it was on the local public stations. About a year ago I became semi-retired; with a lot of free time on my hands I decided to explore things that I would have now have time to indulge. The local library had the complete 5 disk set of TTMB. Watching it brought back the feeling of why I had enjoyed it so much before.

I’m a sucker for romantic comedies, and TTMB is the best television series of this genre. There are some movies, “You Got Mail” “The Quite Man” that have the same chemistry between the two main actors.

I’m not a writer, and have no desire to become one. My background is financial. I do some consultation, attend Mensa meetings, and volunteer for various committees in my town.

I truly enjoy this show, and am excited about reading some fan fiction. I read that comedy is the most difficult to write. Here’s hoping that one of you amateur authors succeed.

Hello, my name is Brandse and I am from Holland ;) I have been a TTMB-fan since the 1980's.
I think Richard is very, very handsome and sexy and I think the series is all about the attraction between Audrey and Richard and the question will they, wont they.... I have all the DVD's and the 2007 Christmas Special on videotape.
In 2008 I sent Peter Bowles a birthdaycard for his birthday and in 8 days I had a reply (photo with autograph, made out to me).
I am also a big Dads Army fan. :D
Does anyone know where Pea Hopeless is? I loved her stories... :$

Love
