I just received an email from The Wagmaster. I mean John the Webmaster and the question of upgrading our web site look and feel has come up in conversation. We agree the John is doing a fantastic Job on the Front page News letter so we don't want to change it. We are thinking maybe the outside links and header (that's the picture at the top) could use some revamping. I am opening this to any suggestion about things we may be missing on the website .
Thanks
John, Jason, Joe C. , Britt (WEB TEAM)

My 2 cents. A couple years back we (the old web team of Costa, Wagman, and Brittain) talked about a total revamp of the website. New theme, layout, etc, basically updating it with more modern code, efficient linking and user interface. I'd really like to see this happen as our website is falling back to the pack sort of speak. I don't know much about coding or claim any knowledge of web design, but, I was impressed by a recent conversation with Cordone which he told me he thinks the web team could revamp using new code making the website experience much easier and cleaner looking vs using the page maker package being used now. I was pumped but know its going to take a commitment. Is it worth it? I can't say...

Well Spiro I guess we do need a Mothball Fleet Area, this covers you and your boat! :ermm:

Otherwise the site works for me.
If the Webmasters want to try something I all for them giving it a shot, but I would like for everyone to be able to view it and make comments before it goes live.

as stated at a previous meeting in it's present format i think our site sucks...Also as stated before not everyone in the club is a computer head .I welcome alterations that would make our site more user friendly .I,m sure i,m not the only one that feels this way.My witness is the fact that the users of our site are the same people all the time,Chin,Spiro,Jon,Britt,Wagman,me,CatfishHilger,Tony, and a couple low cash members that won't be mentioned. but you get my point. We have about 50 members and about 10 us the forum .There are a couple that log in for info but never add anything ,thats about it.OH! sorry Rob and Rene I forgot you.I have asked Wagman a couple of times about how to find something and even he didn't know how to get to where i wanted to go. maybe we can take this up Thursday .It would be nice if all involved with our site were there .

Mike what the @#$%^ is a zeta board ?your helping make my point, would it be possible to have a demonstration on how to properly use or post pictures or find what we need from our site.Is this a possibility? I thought when i said our site sucks the reaction would be that Tony would man up and offer his services ,to instruct those of us that are not computer literate on the use of our site.I don't really think our site sucks but i do think it's a little unorganized and hard to use at least for me.Am i the only one ? My opinion and i,m sticking to it!.Tony I,m still waiting!!!

There's a FAQ'S section on the forums which explains how to post pictures. Like any computer related stuff, there is a learning curve. Tony won't help, he's a polititian and a mechanic. His job is to stir stuff up and then charge you labor for the time he takes to key in his message (j/k).

I believe the web site is very easy to use. I am sticking to that and it is my opinion. I don't believe we could make it any better than it is. I do think the look and feel could be better. That wouldn't change any functionality, but would make it a little nicer to look at. I suggest that we get rid of the image at the top and use John W. newsletter as the whole front page. It is kind of redundant to have "Santa Clara Bass Busters " at the top and in the news letter. If we like the image at the top I say we add the info about when we were established to that image and take Santa Clara Bassbusters out of the title of the news letter.
For Rene and club any look changes we will either post on the forum to look at or bring to the next meeting. As for now it will stay as it is.

A revamp of the website is a multiple 100's of hour endeavor. It is not as simple as "Hey, let's change it". Please keep this in mind when you give your comments. This board was setup on free time that I don't really have anymore. I will do what I can to make changes per your requests though...

I think the web site could use some minor changes. It does take alot of time and energy to change the site. We should have a very clear direction as to where we want to take the site before we do anything. I also think it would be worth the money to pay to get rid of the banners. The club should be able to afford five bucks a month. As a possible solution to our BLBBLB member's, we should have a forum to ask questions about the web site and maybe all member's could help with answering the questions. This may also answer a question that someone else had but was afraid to ask or show a different way of doing something. M2C B)

Nelson your so smart! Actually i took the time today to visit quite a few other clubs sites and have changed my opinion. Our site is by far the best i looked at, compared to the others ours is the most professional looking of them all. Thanks to Joe for his hard work.I do agree with Nelson though it does need a tweak here and there but i,m sure Britt and company will take care of that.As far as the banners go lose them, looks like we need money.I think it was a good idea but just doesn't work for me,If we can,t afford the 7 bucks maybe Nelson will pay it . :D I still think a little web help is needed.Bob out!!!

Here's my opinion. :P Overall the Bassbusters Web site look great. I really like the newsletter format and content. Although we can all suggest improvements to the website and forum, may I suggest we come to some concensus of the improvements and let the web team implement the improvement. Also, maybe on one of our monthly meetings, one of the website team members can answers questions and demo the forum's capabilities.
