Hey fish-heads, Right now the Assembly is voting on passage of Assembly Bill 1806. This bill calls for the agencies using the delta's water to be responsible for mitigation for the damage done to the delta's fisheries. Here is a link to the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance there is info and a form letter you can submit to weigh in on this issue. As stated in Bass Busters bylaws Article II – Purpose: "...To offer our state conservation department our organized moral and political support and encouragement. To promote full adherence to conservation coded and to demand adequate water standards and legal enforcement of existing regulatory standards. To detect and report a polluter and call public and/or political attention to this crime." Now is the time to step up. This is the letter I sent: Dear Assemblyman Laird, I’m writing in support of AB 1806, the bill to protect the California Delta’s fisheries. The rapidly declining fisheries in the delta are a sign that the Delta and the rivers that feed into it are in peril. Our California Delta serves over one hundred thousand anglers, hunters, pleasure boaters and wildlife enthusiasts which translates into a monetary value to the state that reaches into the billions of dollars annually. In addition the loss of California's commercial Chinook salmon fishery would also result in a net loss to the state of hundreds of millions of dollars annually. The waters themselves are used to grow the crops that feed nation and bring revenue to California from around the globe. While I recognize the need to supply water to the southern portion of the state, those using the water should be responsible for mitigating the losses to the fisheries and Delta ecosystems and provide funds for their support and recovery. Please vote yes on AB 1806, Sincerely, Jon Wagman 145 West Hill Rd Felton, CA 95018 jon@wagmania.com ![]() In my next letter I will push for ashtrays to be installed at each intersection in the delta! |
