Let darkness take you...
|
Pandora’s Temple, a magnificent monument to the gods and a treacherous vault worthy to hold Pandora’s box, drifted through the sands of the Desert of Lost Souls. The great architectural wonder was chained to the back of Kronos, the last living titan. Sentenced to carry this heavy burden through the dessert until it’s sands rip the very skin from his bones, the fallen titan gave little notice to what else was on his back as he wandered along his endless journey, for most things paled in significance to Pandora’s Temple. But atop his back was more than the temple, more than the hordes of traps and monsters. Atop his back was a mortal, born with the makings of a God. High above him, very near the top of Pandora’s Temple, were the Cliffs of Madness. These cliffs were intended to be a maze to keep even the bravest warriors from reaching the power held in the towering heights of the structure. The place was named thusly by the architect, who, in his grief of losing his two sons, feared that he very well could have mad this maze with no way out. People would be utter fools to traverse those God forsaken cliffs, but someone did. Kratos gazed down, over the edge of one of those cliffs, staring out at the desert far below. It was a magnificent view from so high up. The swirling sands far below were only a small section of the landscaped laid bare before him. Anyone else would have been struck speechless by the sight, something surely only possible by being one of the Gods’ many wonders, but not Kratos. The ex-Spartan Captain had a mission and nothing, no matter how great would ever deter him from his goal of obtaining Pandora’s Box. Off in the distance, the great city of Athens could be seen from that height, even now being terrorized by Ares, the God of War. Kratos’s expression turned to intense, animalistic rage at the mere thought of his immortal nemesis. How very thirsty was he to spill that monster’s blood. Turning away from the view, Kratos swiftly returned to the route he had been taking. He walked with a confident stride the belied his primitive, brutish appearance. He seemed nothing less than a Barbarian King as he pressed forward with iron determination. The small trail, barely large enough for a man of Kratos’s size to travel, was open on his left while the right was bordered by another tall cliff face. A lesser man would be scared out of his wits when facing such a precipitous drop that was only a misstep away, but Kratos showed no fear, felt no fear. He only felt anger towards the God who had so wronged him. So distracted was he by dark thoughts of slaying that wicked creature that was a God, Kratos didn’t immediately comprehend the black void that began opening a ways below, bridging a gap between the path that Kratos now walked and the distant one on the other side of the canyon that made up the Cliffs of Madness. It slowly but relentlessly grew, a dark tear in that which was reality. Soon it became so large that Kratos was forced to see it at the edge of his vision. He turned quickly at what he thought must be a new threat, his Blades of Chaos snapping up into his hands, their fiery red runes igniting along their lengths on contact, but he was quickly thrown off guard as he saw what seemed an impossibility. “What the hell is that thing?” He mouthed quietly as he watched it, careful, hesitant, not trusting the thing that was as dark as the bowels of Hades. He wanted nothing to do with it and quickly turned away, wanting to put as much distance as he could between himself and the rippling void. But he had managed no more than two steps when suddenly and intense wind picked up, pulling him towards the deathly portal into oblivion. “Damn!” Kratos cursed over the roar of the ever increasing howl of the wind. He tried to maintain his balance upon the small trail but was quickly swept off his feet. “No!” He mouthed unheard, for even his mighty bellow could not be heard over the roar of the wind. He let his Blades of Chaos speak for him, however. Letting them fly by the chains at the ends of their handles, Kratos sent them hurtling into the rock face of the cliff he had just been looking down from, imbedding the fiery blades on contact. Instantly, Kratos had to overcome a bone-jarring jerk, as the chains took up tension and he froze in mid-flight towards the ghastly void. The wind only continued to pick up and slowly at first, but always speeding up, the length of chain that anchored him in the air ever increased in length. Finally another sudden stop, as well as a blinding flash of pain, announced that the chain had reached it’s maximum length. It had reached to the point where the chain was irreversibly burned to his fore-arms. Kratos cried out, but not so much from the pain as from the fury of this unknown enemy. One of the blades began to wiggle free, coming loose from the cliff face. Kratos’s eyes opened in surprise as he watched it come loose, sending a rock shower of earth torn from it’s wall. As the blade and chain whipped around him, coming about to now pull him towards the hungry void, his other arm strained as it acted as the only remaining anchor. That too did not last long, for soon the void’s winds could no longer be denied and Kratos was pulled loose and flung into the ever black, lifeless place. All the way down, Kratos bellowed a blood-curdling battle cry, determined to die fighting. _____ Kratos awoke, laying across a soft bed of grass. The green carpet of vegetation swayed around him as a gentle breeze swept through. He moaned as he rose to his knees to have a look around. “By the Gods…” he said slowly as he took in the sight. He was utterly in a different place than he had been just before. A house stood erect behind him, seeming to be ordinary living quarters. From what he could tell, he was in the front yard of the looming structure. Below was a town, seeming fairly quaint and quiet from up upon the hill he stood on. This was not Pandora’s Temple, this was not Athens. This place didn’t even seem Greek. Kratos couldn’t fathom how he had gotten here. He last remembered being pulled into that black darkness that was a tear in the world and then awakening here. The Spartan couldn’t even comprehend what could have taken place. |

While he didn't know what had happened, Kratos quickly rose to his feet. He needed to face the immediate problem, that he was in a strange, new place against his will. As he stood in the front yard of the house, Kratos noticed that his weapons, having been stretched out so far to keep him anchored back at the towering heights of the Cliffs of Madness, were now littered over the carpet of flowing grass. The Spartan warrior quickly reeled them in, back to the firm grasp of his hands, as he considered his next move. The glyphs along the blades fizzled with a faint yet fiery illumination. |

Satouru stood in front of the mirror, holding the Taiga Crad Deck in front of him. An image of a belt formed around his hips from this motion as the college student brought his two hands up in a cross motion, instantly brigning them down again. Satouru brough his left hand up in a claw like manner, pivoting it so that the palm of his hand faced him. "Henshin!" Satouru roared as he slid the Card Deck into the slot in the belt. The Taiga armor formed around his body, as Satouru rushed into the mirror. "That Monster won't escape me...." However, as Satouru ran into it, something went wrong. Instead of the reflective walls, which were the link between the Real World and the Mirror World, Satouru found he was in a black void. Satouru's armor shattered as he felt a tugging force pulling him forward. Satouru tried to resist but it was no use as he felt his body fly forward. Satouru found himself on soft grass, the young man staring around in suprise. In front of him, he saw a sight to remember. A pale skinned, tatooed brute of a man, with two glowing blades in his hand. Satouru slowly got up, and stared strangely at this person. From his looks, Satouru could probably guess that this man wasn't Japanese, and probably couldn't understand Japanese either, but any try was worth knowing what was going on. "Who are you?" Satouru asked in cofusion. |

Kratos, so intently focused on inner thoughts, didn't notice the new arrival until he spoke. Spinning around, his blades igniting with intense flame, the likes of which could only be called from the depths of Hades, the brutish Spartan turned his piercing gaze on Satouru. "I could ask you the same question," he growled as he took in the character infront of him. With the lack of a threat to pair up with the strange occurances that had taken place that day, Kratos was a man with a fairly short fuse and ready to suspect threat coming from anywhere. ((ill have him calm down after a post or two, heh)) |

Satouru, although offended, did not allow it to show on his face. However, he was at a disadvantage. This man had weapons, while Satouru was a mere human in this world. He couldn't transform to Taiga and defend himself. In short, he was clearly out of luck... except for one little thing. He wasn't sure if it'd work, but if this man could somehow understand his words, than what he planned would probably most definitely work. The Japanese boy moved his eyes to a window by the giant house nearby, and in his head, nodded with satisfaction. It was still there... Destwilder. The Tiger Monster stared back at him, waiting for it's master's orders, though from its movements, it was clearly itching to get out and attack. Satouru simply did nothing, signifying for the beast to not attack. The Monster in the mirror made a grunt only heard by Satouru of disatisfaction before ceasing to be seen in the window. It was a good thing that this man, whoever he was probably couldn't see his little 'pet', as only Riders could see Mirror Monsters when they cross the breach between the Mirror World and Real World. "Well, then I ask for your forgiveness.... I don't suppose you were brought here by a black void, were you?" Satouru asked, not really caring if his question sounded strange. |

"Yes, I was..." Kratos said slowly, as he thought about the void high above the Cliffs of Madness. He lowered the blades he wielded carefully and sheathing them X style behind his lower back. It wasn't that he yet fully trusted the lad infront of him. After all, the blades could return to his hands in a moment's notice, considering how they were connected so. "The damn thing sucked me right off the side of the Cliffs of Madness," he growled in anger, this time not at Satouru, but at the cursed void that was now unseen in the clear sky above, "And when I was so close to completing my quest..." These last words were muttered under his breath as he stared down at the grass and clenched his ashen fists tightly at his sides in barely controlled rage at the mere thought of Ares. He quickly forced himself to calm, however, and turned his gaze to Satouru again. Suspicion was still obviously lingering in those eyes of his. "What about you? How did you end up here?" |

Cliffs of Madness? What was this man talking about? For all of Satouru's life, he wouldn't think there'd be such a area, much less a landscape called 'The Cliffs of Madness'. However, if a parallel world where Monsters lived existed in this world, why couldn't these' Cliffs of Madness' exist? However, he decided to put away that thought for now, and focus on the 'dilemma' in front of him. Should he tell this man the truth or twist the truth instead. Telling this man he was a Rider would be a costly and foolish mistake, as Toujou saw it. "I was.... having a nice.... read...." Satouru said, hoping this was an effective enough lie, "The same thing seemed to happen when a black hole sucked me up.... So, what do you propose we do aboutn this situation?" |

Kratos raised an eyebrow at the lad's explanation, but didn't press the issue. Whie he was a good enough judge of character to know the boy wasn't telling him everything, there were more important things to consider than how a boy had arrived with him in this place. "What do I propose...?" Kratos asked with agitation, "By the Gods! What can I propose we do?" He rubbed his temples as he thought of what was happening. "This," He waved his hands to indicate the world now around them, "This place, where ever we are, was not reached by any natural means. We were dragged here by something that shouldn't even exist!" Kratos had considered that this was one more foul trick played by Ares, the God of War, to prevent him from completing his mission. But if that was the case, and that black void that dragged him here was conjured by Ares, than why was the boy here. He didn't appear any threat to a god, from Kratos's point of view anyways. "We have to find out where we are, I suppose" Kratos finally decided with a grumble. As an accomplished officer in the Spartan army, he had learned the importance of fully understanding the land around you. |

Satouru only nodded, moving his eyes around to make his own observations of the land. It looked perfectly normal, this place. A great and green yard for some house. Satouru looked to his back, to look at the structure in front of him. It wuld appear to have some residents, as it did look well kept. Perhaps, they should go in and ask? That was the only option. "I'd say that it would be wise to enter this mansion..." Satouru spoke without looking at the man, "From the looks of it, I'd say that it'd have some residents in there, that would tell us where we are." The boy, however, was beggining to think of something else... Why was he brought here? Was this a ploy made by Shiro Kanzaki? The creator of the Mirror World, and in turn the cause of the many mysterious deaths in his time... It was a fact that he, Kagawa-sensei and Nakamura were trying to destroy the Mirror World, and that information could've reached the though-to-be-deceased man. However.... if this was Shiro Kanzaki's plan, why bring this other person, unless he was a Rider. And foolhardy as it may seem, Satouru couldn't help but think that this man was not of his time or even his world. His clothing and choice of weaponry for one, were primitive and his speech suggested he wasn't from modern times either. Satouru had read about Quantum Theory before, the theory that parallel worlds existed. What if this was a sort of connection between all worlds? Would be it that all dimensions were connected to this one dimension... However, Satouru was not going to reveal his suspicions to this man. He couldn't trust him yet, and Satouru could tell that this man didn't trust him completely. |

Grunting his agreement, the Spartan Captain took one last, calculating look of the lad before turning about and walking towards the house. He would get his answers and then he would return to his world to kill the monster that was a God that had ruined his life. He wasn't sure about the person behind him. He didn't seem a threat, other than his strange attire, he appeared to be like any other gutless citizen of any number of Greek City-States. Still he had learned not to judge by appearance. The largest, most brutish things that he had run across along his journeys were like kittens trying to play the tiger. Kratos didn't yet trust the lad, but he had had time to cool a tad and was beginning to relax. At least his fuse wasn't as short at the moment, though with Kratos, it always remained short. Pushing away the thoughts to make room for the here and now, Kratos strode into the mansion before him. ((Continued in Living Room)) |
