So was chatting with some techies on G+ and someone mentioned this great feature of gmail addresses. That is that your email adrdess is expandable with a near infinite number of possibilities. Say for example my address was moose@gmail.com (it isnt btw), and i am signing up to various sites to do with JKA (like here and JKhub) i can sign up using the address moose+JK@gmail.com any emails from these sites will still go to my main inbox, despite the +JK part, however in the TO field of the email it will say moose+jk@gmail.com. With a quick filter setup to move anything addressed to that address into a folder, or star it as important, etc. this also means if people send me an email through the forums, they will also go to that address and also be filtered. This makes life easier rather than having to setup seperate email addresses, or filter them manually. so all you have to do is add the + symbol followed by whatever tag you want before typing @gmail.com and they will go there. There are apparently sites that do block the + from email addresses but have yet to come across one. While it may not seem to be a major feature when you get a lot of emails through from a wide range of sources it can be difficult to keep on top of them manually. |

Would you compare it to rules with outlook, but related to the email address it is sent TO rather than from? |

Yeah, exactly like that, which means you don't have to set up a rule for each address that the messages are sent from. |
