Posted Image Hey guys, I'm Cael; I'm one of those really, really ancient people who pop in once every few months. You might've noticed a weird bar popping up at the top of the site, presuming you use http://aof-clan.com/main.html to view the site. I figured I'd explain what's going on. :) The bar It's the JKHub Bar. AoF is part of a network of websites supporting each other as well as the Jedi Knight Hub. It was installed here in cooperation with AoF's council. The purpose of the bar is to easily provide the latest Jedi Knight related news, and to support the rest of the community. We hope to encourage people to visit websites they may never have heard of, and to let them know if anything important happens. The Hub I may have mentioned JKH once or twice to some of you. JKHub is basically an attempt to create a central website for all things Jedi Academy and (to a lesser extent) Jedi Outcast related. Because of how many such projects failed over the years, we made thorough preparations: over 150 people have been working on JKHub for a full year, including people from AoF. We launched a month ago, and at the moment, we have over 1200 mods online (all with permission), several of which are exclusive to our site. JKHub offers a variety of services, like:
...And much more. Invitation We'd love to get AoF's members, as well as many others, involved in JKHub. We're constantly working to provide lots of cool stuff, including news, exclusive interviews, and even ingame events. In short: we'd really appreciate it if you'd take five minutes to come check us out. And if you like the place, why not register and say hello? Infographic We created the following infographic to further explain what JKHub is all about. Click it to view the full-sized version: Posted Image |

Is the JKHub bar not working for anyone else? Also when it did work up til a day or two ago, was AoF even on there? I didn't see if we were listed. Its covering up my preferences, and inbox links.

You will need to go to http://www.aof-clan.com/main.html to see the bar. If you cannot see AoF within the groups section, do a hard refresh on your browser or clear the cache and temp files. |

Leon! The words 'moo' and 'dog' come to mind. ;D
Pretty much everything Apollo said above. AoF is listed on the bar under groups -> social. :) |

This seems to be an issue with Internet Explorer. When using Google's Chrome, I have no problems viewing the bar whatsoever. However, when I navigate to the page in Internet Explorer, I experience the same situation as shown in your image. Often with web-based programming, certain browsers read code in different ways or not at all. I'm assuming it's this sort of cross-browser type of problem with the bar. Hopefully Caelum will see your post and be able to sort out any technicalities. If he doesn't, I'll send him an email on your behalf and other IE users. (This seems to happen only our our site/main.html. It could very well be an issue on our end.) Edited by Apollonios, Sep 23 2012, 01:58 PM.

Huh, that's weird. I managed to reproduce it with some effort by enabling IE's compatibility mode, which essentially makes IE act like an older version of itself. Considering it only seems to be happening to AoF's main.html, I blame it on that. A partial fix would be to disable compatibility mode, but I'll see if I can clean up main.html's code to stop it from happening entirely. It should be quite doable. Tl;dr I'll do what I can to fix it, but it's not the bar's fault, I promise. ;) |

Its across all pages in this site, even the wiki page. In or out of compatibility mode, it is the same. Up until a couple of days ago, the bar was displayed properly, and working well. Again, its more of a bother than a real problem, I would still like to get it back to normal. Thanks guys. |

Caelum has sent us a fix. We'll get things operating as soon as we can. Thanks for your patience, Hawk (and other IE users). (thumbUp) |

This is superb. It will definitely bring a much larger sense of community to the game, I didn't even realize there were that many active clans any more; and I really surprised to see that so many of them opted to take part in JKHub. It can only mean good things. Kudos to the modders. P.S. Hi Caelum. |

Have been keeping an eye on the hub since its release, and it seems to be growing nicely. Good Job on the whole getting it up and running and do like the addition of the bar on other site (its slick) if anyone is having IE troubles then you know what to do, go out and get yourself a web browser :) However if i am honest i am not a big fan on the general layout, i realize it's probably me just being a grumpy ol' web designer so i won't worry too much about it, as it would not stop me using the site, just might make me cringe a little bit everytime. Great Work so far, i wish i was still mapping/modding to help contribute to the files but i just don't have the time/patience at the moment. |

Nah don't think so. Not for this guy anyway. I will stick to IE as I always have, usually with no issues. I will just stop coming here until its fixed or gone. See you all on the server, or from my phone which uses something different than IE as the bar does not show up there. JKHub is an awesome thing, however there is still the coding problem. Least I guess that is where the issue lies. I don't know, I'm not a doctor. What I do know is that rather than suggesting we get new browsers(which I am certainly not going to do) how bout we get a fix. Through many sites IE is listed in the top 5, around 3rd or 4th depending on the site. Still its in the top 5. That tells me there are plenty of people who use it, and love it everyday. If this is the case, there is something that ought to be able to be done to fix the issue. In the end, if we can cross platform an entire browser(like firefox), we ought to be able to cross platform the coding for this JKHub bar. Lastly not that I care overmuch, because I can use my phone JKhub free, I would still love to see the AoF site back to looking normal. FIX THE BAR. Please for the love of Yoda, FIX THE BAR! Lol it's late, sorry for the rant, I am a bit under the weather. Ok more than a bit, I can't even keep water down right now. See my frustrations? I'm dehydrated, and can't see all of the clan site. It's a travesty, and we(IE users having issues) want our portal back. No disrespect intended toward anyone (or thing), Padawan Hawk |

Thanks for all the praise. Genuinely curious here: what irks you so much about the layout? I'm rather a grumpy webdesigner (...honest) myself, but if you have any specific changes in mind, I'd be happy to hear you out. :P
As said, the problem isn't with the bar itself, but rather that AoF's main.html page doesn't have a doctype declaration, which causes IE to have a nervous breakdown. The bar itself is fully cross-platform, and works on any browser (including IE) as long as the page it's on has a doctype declaration (which all HTML pages should have). It doesn't show up on your phone because your phone, presumably, has Javascript disabled. At this point, you'll have to wait for Apollo to implement the fix I sent, I guess. In the meantime, though, you should still be able to use http://s6.zetaboards.com/Angels_Of_Fire/ instead of http://aof-clan.com/main.html for bar-free browsing. |
