So my dad recently taught me how to play and I'm really liking the game. I've been playing both the card and the online game on steam. Anyone else play?

I used to have some magic: the gathering cards. I never learned to play though. I just thought the illustrations were cool.

Always looked to me like a more mature hybrid of yugioh and pokemon. xD

That's what I thought at first but the more I play the more I realize it's better lol. Do you guys have decks built for a purpose? If so what?

On MTGO I built a deck that revolved entirely around one creature type known as Slivers. This is known as a "Tribal" deck. All of the creatures were Slivers, or Shapeshifters (which can turn into any creature type for a cost), and any spells used would have things such as "+X/+X to all creatures of <type> until EoT"

In my more recent tournament plays, I've mainly built decks around the Prolifiration ability in the Scars of Mirrodin and Mirrodin Besieged series, where you can "multiply" things like poison counters, +X counters, etc.

That's my real life deck XD But I only use slivers, I don't have shapeshifters.

<3 Slivers.

Anyway, I play in real life, though I haven't played in a while, and I don't have those Planeswalkers thingies, they annoy me for not letting me make my own deck, but this MTGO thing you speak of I shall have to investigate <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Edit: What the fudge is wrong with the quoting thing? O.o

I've been playing the Duels of the Planewalker while I wait for MTGO to download. I like some of the decks in there and might build a few of them. My personal deck (i just started playing mind you) is built around flying creatures that can only be blocked by other flying. (Yes even walls cant block them. I researched.) My dad has a deck built around artifacts. Its scary good <.<

It's my understanding *that you actually have to own the card before you can use in MTGO hence why I don't play.

From what I've seen you are given a starter set of cards to build a deck as well as the ability to purchase more cards. I havnt seen a "import real cards" function but I barely looked. I hope they have that feature.

My bro plays a lot IRL, I play with him sometimes but I don't have a deck of my own. My bro has 4 or 5 so I always just use one of those, the game always confuses me, I know how to play, but there's so many nitty gritty details >_> How much does it cost on steam? Maybe I could get MTGO and see if I can learn anything more about the game before I go out and start trying to build a deck with no knowledge of what I should be doing for different purposes and such. Only thing I know is that my bro built a Vampire deck and he hasn't lost to anyone with it yet, I could always try to build a deck that can beat his...

I could almost guarantee he would lose against my dads artifact deck. Each card played helps another card somehow. And I do mean each card. Anywho if you want to learn the game fast get the Duals of the Planeswalker off steam for $10 ($25 to buy with everything unlocked).
