playing around with maps on the server, i'm torn between a completely flat world, or a world of biospheres with different biomes in each sphere i may end up just leaving it on a natural world /shrug
I like the idea of biomes. but the flat one would also be good because then we could make like towns. WAIT! What if we had like biomes but each biome belonged to a certain clan member? that way we can build our own like house and we have our virtual community :D. idk just an idea. like the biomes surround a flat land which would be in the middle meaning the flat area would be group edit then the biomes would be where our individual forts/ creations are |

maps gonna be left on a flat world, it's not /completely/ flat though. past the giant wall boundary there's a normal world. projects with enough effort put into them can be connected to the rail network - the central station for it has already been made :9 |

if anyone really wants to head to a natural world to do mining (I know you have server set up so you don't need to, but it's still fun) then, they could just make a portal to the Netherlands, then walk for like a minute, and you'd be pretty far. just make sure you make markers in the netherlands so you can find your way back... |

it's kinda like makermod, only everything is made of blocks (including the entire world) that you can rearrange/change |

@asylum: i finally got around to configuring the permissions correctly - had to bring the server down while i was editing however also, now i'm the only admin! but don't worry: you'll be added to a builders group which will still give you full access to /gme and mostly full access to worldedit! this is so people who just joined the server have /no/ chance to jack anything up. default users have no permissions, and no build rights! and since i'm now the only admin: nobody else can mess with your stuff (maybe)! and in other news: scheduled maintenance downtime Wednesday! SoftLayer Scheduled Maintenance - WDC01 Aggregate Switches [06/15/2011] Date: Wednesday, June 15, 2011 (06/15/2011) Start Time: 12:01 AM EDT End Time: 05:01 AM EDT Services affected: Public and Private Network Connectivity Location: WDC01 Duration: 5 hours |

all account names in the forums have been added in correctly (probably)! if not, leon is temporarily a semiadmin to fix you up incase i'm not on Jeewizards: try /manuadd <player> Builder, then /mansave also, since the superpick is op only, a new plugin was installed to make breaking blocks a lil easier! typing /at on, will make it to where if you hit a wood block, you instantly switch to your axe, hit a stone block, pickaxe, etc! and you can turn it off with /at off the command /time <day/night> is also now enabled for builders, incase you get tired of building in the dark also, good news! i've found a work around for not being able to add mods to minecraft, but there's a downside: any mod I uploaded to the server, you'd have to install into your client. :L but, no such thing will be done until next month when i decide to upgrade the server (which again depends on how active it is), and even then i'd only have you install one mod just to add more things to build with or something. i might even try to advertise the server and get a larger player population, since the upgraded server would give me 32 slots. might dial back the focus on building; add in iconomy and have people running towns, bring back the survival-aspect as well who knows! |

since I still can't edit the first post i'll just make another one :L got around to adding a region protection plugin, use /region claim nameofregion to claim an area as yours! don't go wild with it though; use it only to cover just the area around your building. but do feel free to make as many claims as you /need/ to, because you can add members to your region to allow them to build in it as well! and DON'T go and claim someone else's area before they can; it'll cause me to remove/give the claim to the rightful owner, and say bad things about you. :( group permissions have been worked around again as well, now builders can use /time and // (superpickaxe) again! huzzah! also: elevators! and a crash course on using them: 1. Prepare a shaft – size can be between 1x1 up to 5x5. There has to be air in the whole shaft(means also no ladders and no torches directly on the wall) 2. Build a square of any block type in your shaft as the elevator’s ground. (Use a block type that is not placed anywhere in the shaft again with the same shape) 3. Stand on the ground while typing /elevator create 4. Stand 2 blocks above where you want your elevator to stop at, and use /elevator call <Floorname> and then right-click on an /already existing/ button to make a floor 5. You have to create Up and Down buttons to control the elevator on every floor OR just inside the elevator. Type /elevator up or /elevator down , then right-click on a button (again the buttons have to be created BEFORE doing a command) after you create the first floor, you should go back down and make the bottom /elevator floor before making any others, it'll make it easier in the long run. also, if you mess up, just use /elevator remove. you can redo whatever you jacked up then! there's also an an example elevator i made in a new tower next to the autofarms, if you'd like to see one in action. oh, and tired of picking up stuff laying on the ground while you're trying to build something? me to! that's why using /np or /nopickup disables item pickup. neat! |

i hate not being able to edit my own posts. :L while i was composing the above post i forgot to add that, to actually define the region you're claiming, use worldedit to select the area, THEN use /region claim <regionname> also, a protip: leftclicking with the compass equipped makes you /jump, and rightclicking with it makes you use /thru. nifty! |
